I was lucky to have Tom as my guide and fellow photographer for this half day visit. Actually he was my teacher and from him I gained lots of useful tips. His expertise of the area was great so we could visit some beautiful locations by van. No skiing was required today so people with no skiing skills, like me, could still enjoy the snow access this fantastic day. I liked the casual and easy going way the guide had and nothing was a problem, borrowing a lens, stopping for snack, it was all up to me. You will need some good shoes and a coat and of course your camera, but otherwise if you need snow shoes, a lens or a tripod, it will there for you to use. It would have been nice to have a bit more time but the train journey and timetables for the trip back to Sapporo meant the time went too fast! Overall I highly recommend this experience if you like snow and photography.

If you’re on the fence about booking a cat skiing trip in Niseko, do it!! And book with Niseko Photography and Guiding. You won’t regret it. My group spent a day cat skiing with two NP&G guides and are still reliving how much fun we had. The guides picked us up from our hotel in Hirafu and drove us out to a private mountain, where we had a beacon and cat safety lesson and then hopped in. It was snowing ridiculously hard (yay!), and the cat driver just plowed through it and thoroughly entertained us. Once on the mountain, we did a warm up run and then hit some fun terrain. The runs featured various lines, so whether we wanted trees, pillows, or a bit of open space, we could find it. The guides did a fantastic job of listening to our feedback and tailoring each successive route appropriately. And we were especially happy to have two guides, as one guide was able to document our adventure, while the second stayed back to make sure we had someone to clean up yard sales (which definitely happened). A few days after the outing, we received a link with photos and got to relive the day all over again (the photos are worth the price alone) and make all our friends jealous. I highly recommend this company and can’t wait for my next Niseko visit so I can book them again.

I have had a number of guided back country, resort and cat ski tours with Niseko Photography in the last few years and always found them to be exceptional experiences. They know how to get you into the deep powder and provide professional photos to enhance your experience. This time, with my non skiing partner, we booked a day trip down through the mountains to the coast at Otaru, taking in sight seeing, the old town, delicious sushi lunch, and whisky tasting at the Yoichi distillery. Our guide Charlotte was entertaining, informative, and made the day real fun for us. Watching seals in the sea just off the coast was a joy. A great rest day in the middle of a ski trip, and very satisfying for both of us.

Everything so good except the weather. We were not lucky to see the all mt Yotei as our wish and main purpose for the tour but the tour guide and photographer Charlotte did so well. Always smile and patience with my kid, and play with her too (pic). Only crazy raining day made the imperfect trips but we can visit the lAke Toya indeed. You can go everywhere u want.

This is our second time using Niseko Photography and the second time we've had a wonderful guide and day of skiing. We had the most phenomenal day with Zach, our guide. My husband, son and I along with Zach went to Rusutsu for the day. Zach was incredibly knowledgeable about where to take us on mountain for the freshest untouched powder, he was also an incredible skier and helped us navigate through snowy, windy deep powder. He took lots of photos of our family and we are looking forward to seeing them -they were incredible the last time we used Niseko Photography. Thanks to Zach we had a wonderful day!!

I join there cat ski on 02 Feb. Their guides are professional, friendly and helpful. Not only they are good, but I can tell they like their job. They are not the cheapest, but definitely worth the money I pay. Highly recommend

The guides can seriously ski well and are genuinely good kind fun people. Why wouldn’t anyone want to spend a day with them. Professionally run business with exceptional service. I will always book this company for future trips and if anyone reads this post you should do the same.

Myself and my wife went on a day trip with Niseko Photography in early January.
I had been keen to do this since booking our holiday. I’m a little obsessed with both skiing and with photography myself so it seemed like pretty much the perfect combination and a chance to be on the other side of the camera.
Initially, from home, the correspondence from Elsie and the team was excellent. They ran us through the best fit for us based on the information I provided by email. We booked the Niseko United Sidecountry option, using lifts to access the backcountry/sidecountry gates.
When we arrived in Niseko the conditions were very good but the guides contacted us suggesting we go to Kiroro instead, where conditions were better (this was totally optional, and we were left with the option of just sticking with Niseko if we preferred).
We decided to go to Kiroro (it involved a small charge for the transfer - which was 1 hour each way) as much for the sake of seeing more of the island as for the skiing.
It was SO worth going to Kiroro. The difference in the conditions and type of runs was significant. Going out of bounds is more strictly controlled there so the overwhelming majority of our runs were untracked until around 1 or 2 pm. Our guide Juan was great, adjusting the runs to suit both myself and my wife’s levels of skiing, and good company on the drive and lifts.
The photos are excellent, and overall I would highly recommend this activity and Niseko Photography. I will be booking again if I am so lucky as to get back to Hokkaido to ski again.
Alex
P.S: from a practical point of view I would advise that if you are considering booking this activity at the time of booking your holiday in Niseko, I would recommend booking you Niseko United lift pass for one less day than you plan to ski. This means that if the guides recommend a different resort (like Kiroro or Rusutsu etc) you won’t lose a day of your ski pass in Niseko. If instead when you get there they recommend staying in Niseko on the day, you can just add the extra day on to your lift pass.
I would recommend taking the guide’s advice on where to ski /change of location- this will be based on snow conditions and will help you get the best experience on the day.

Hi Alex,
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a thorough review, we really appreciate it, and that's a great tip about booking the ski pass! We're so glad you got the experience to see more of the island and visit Kiroro, which is such a fun resort. Juan certainly is great company and it sounds like you had excellent conditions. Hope to see you back in Hokkaido again, we'll keep our fingers crossed that you'll be able to return soon!

Just want to give a shout-out to Zach and Elsie from Niseko Photography. We had an amazing back-country experience and felt totally safe the whole time which was important for me and my 11 year old boy, it was his first experience. Photos were epic as was the powder we found on the day.

I also come frome a tropical country so i need a tour guide in niseko. They can give u the list amd u can choose or u can give them your wishing list of must go see and correct it based on the time. Theyre professional so dont worry. They carry u in the private trunk car. This is large area covered by snow everywhere so u need a tour obviously, and u can choose one of many day tour in niseko. But if u want to have the best pic, they’ve the best. Don’t worry. I travelled many cities in japan but in this place i had to join hands with the tour because I dont know anything in snow area.
