Great information found in the centre and easy walk to sandunes. Our younger visitors enjoyed sliding down the dunes and building on the beach.

This is my happy place, been coming for many years and it never fails me.
Space, peaceful, great views, lovely sea and estuary and freedom for the the dogs to run and play.
Really interesting nature reserve.

My family has been coming to the area for many years, and Ynyslas is a core part of the pleasure that visits bring.
Taking time out from the world to wander along the boardwalk through the dunes, as the sun sets, is a wonderfully relaxing experience.
Keep your eye out for the rabbit tails as you peak each sand dune! 🙂

Stunning beach, one of my favourites in the UK. We parked on the estuary for £4 and then walked across the dunes to the beach. We paddled and made sandcastles. As it's such a big beach it never feels too busy. Lovely little visitor centre too, especially liked the display with all the different shells. Would be a shame if it closed.

Amazing beach with absolutely stunning views.
We watched the sunset from the dunes after spending all day playing games on the beach.
Bit tricky to get too from the disabled car park with the dunes as wooden walkway path way only goes so far along - With Some steps one side.
Toilets close early afternoon but there is a drinking fountain available.

Thank you for your review, really appreciate it! Glad you had such a nice visit, and we can only apologise for the trickiness of the dunes - a ramp would be too steep to get over them safely in a wheelchair or scooter, so they have to be steps for safety. The toilets close by 5pm, 4:30pm at the earliest. Hope you visit again!

Loads of parking (£4) on the beach and a good centre with clean loos. Lovely walks through the dunes and along the beach though not many are easy walking. Well worth visiting though

Wonderful spot for walking and enjoying coastal views - still lots of rabbits in the dunes (although warnings about outbreak of myxi still posted). Visitor centre currently under threat of closure, which would be a great shame - local campaign underway to protest.

Been coming here for the past few years in our campervan. We park on the motorhome carpark at the golf course and absolutely love it. Such a beautiful beach and when the sun sets, it is stunning! Lovely walk into town along the beach for breakfast and a cheeky pint. Always have a great time!!

Hi, thank you for taking the time to write a review! I do need to point out though, for the benefit of others reading, that parking on the Ynyslas estuary car park overnight is not permitted (I'm assuming you parked at the one half a mile up the road, which is not managed by NRW).
Best wishes and glad you enjoyed your visit :)

I love this place with a passion and have been visiting for over 30 years. It is a place I have come for family fun days out with small children jumping in puddly pools the sea left behind to long windy dog walks with those same children (now adults) by my side.
I have witnessed the regeneration of the dunes and the establishment of boarwalks. Not only do these make getting from the estuary carpark to the beach much easier but they protect the dunes (and the endangered wildlife they shelter) from careless humans treading too heavily.
This place has nutured me when I have felt overwhelmed by life and connected me to nature in a way I cannot explain.
The unexploded ordinance, the dangerous tides and the remoteness make it a place where commercial tourism cannot be established. And so it thrives, and soothes and offers comfort and refuge.
Ringed plovers now make their burrows here, raise their young on area fenced off from over enthusiastic dogs delighted to find a stretch of summer beach where they can run free.
What price for this marvellous place. £3 to park all day. Clean loos, good coffee, local produce, books galore and fascinating educational facilities. Who knew non-rotating bombs were test fired on these beaches in WW2 or that rare orchids have been found at the site?
The knowledgeable staff based at the visitors centre are a mine of information and friendly to boot. Recently, one of them single handedly saw off a little gang of poachers who were netting the dunes for a spot of hunting with ferrets.
Their reward, being told by NRW to close the doors and not open them again? What price can you put on a facility like this? Where the reason you come is because there is nothing here, but that very nothingness needs protecting.
Please help us keep the Centre Open. Sign the petitions, make a fuss. Write to your MP, your Senedd Member, your councillor, the Secretary of State for Wales, The Prince of Wales, the King and anyone else you can think of. Write to the Board of The NRW and the Executive too.
There are 250,000 visitors here a year. If we all wrote we could make a difference. We could pay £5 to park all day at a place that gives so much and asks so little of us

We visited Borth Beach as part of a University trip. It is a lovely stretch of coast with pebbles and a sandy nearshore and unbeatable views of the coastal Welsh landscape. The housing stretch is beautiful and the area has a clean and fresh feel, which makes it all the more lovely.

Hi Jenny - we don't allow overnight stays as Ynyslas is part of a nature reserve, plus the car park floods regularly during high tides! But campervans are ok to park up during the day :)

Can you camp on the beach or in the gravel area where the caravans go? Does anyone know if there's charge?
Skrevet 30. juni 2017
Camping on the beach at Ynyslas is not allowed because of the tides and it is a nature reserve. Also, shame on you AndyHough for suggesting people don't pay for the car parking there, without the funds raised the nature reserve and dunes would not survive. It has taken decades for the dunes to recover, but I guess you never saw them when they were almost gone. They protect the land and encourage wildlife and rare flora. Campers defecate and urinate in the dunes and often don't take their rubbish away with them. At Ynyslas turn car park, by the bus stop, only motor homes with their own sanitation are allowed to stay overnight and they have to pay a fee because the land belongs to the Golf Club.
Skrevet 1. juli 2017
Yes, definitely, perfect place for it, but keep it away from the dunes .... for obvious reasons 😉
Skrevet 19. april 2017
Is there a path through the nature reserve as an disabled and on a stick. Many thanks
Skrevet 9. april 2017
Hi
There is a path of sorts but easier to drive onto the beach and then walk around the dunes to the North it is not much further.

I am not sure but I did see lots of camper vans etc there during a evening/ dusk walk.
It actually doesn't mention over night parking on website!
01970 872901 is the visitor centre number and they may be able to advice you further. 👍🏽
Sorry I can't be more help.

My daughter rides down there. Park to the right as you go in (firmer sand). You cant ride through the dunes as it damages the paths and rare orchids. Stay on the beach but dont go when its busy, children and dogs everywhere! I saw one man shouting at a rider because they were galloping and scared his little children, aslong as you ride responsibly you should be ok.
Also watch out for the ground nesting bird enclosure, follow the blue rope over the dune, wouldnt want your horse to step on bird eggs in the sand!
