Schöne Gegend zum Wandern, Parkplätze waren eine Stunde bevor der Zug kommt bereits ziemlich voll und das im Oktober. Trotzdem genug Platz für jeden um sein Traumfoto zu schiessen.

We did this trek after visiting the Viaduct and we were not very prepared to be honest (no water etc). It is a pretty tough route at times but it was definitely worth the effort... the views were spectacular! Having the cafe at the station was a godsend!

POOR PARKING…….next to an extremely dangerous/fast road, there is likely to be a serious accident if this is not rectified.

Fabulous views of the viaduct and the monument. Also managed to catch the steam train going across. Time it right! Great day out! Definitely a must if you’re in the area.

The trail above the viaduct to Glenfinnan station is quite tough if you are not a seasoned walker its steep but the views are lovely;
an easier option from the main car park is a 10/15 min walk up the main road on the footpath to Glenfinnan station dining car and museum.

Great walking trail that leads to an area of grass areas where you can sit and overlook the Glenfinnan viaduct that was actually erected in 1901.

Great for all Harry Potter fans! However we went on a very wet and windy day (Storm Eunice) so didn't really get the chance to appreciate it or the surrounding area much. Car park is expensive.

We went at the perfect time of year (5th Dec) - very few tourists around so we could enjoy the stunning views serenely. We drove to Glenfinnan at midday and there was plenty of parking. A kind couple driving out gave us their parking ticket saving us £3.50 straight away.
We firstly walked to the Glenfinnan Monument and enjoyed the most amazing views out onto the Loch with absolutely no one else around. After soaking that up and taking lots of wonderful pictures we walked to the viewpoint which was a short climb from the visitor centre. Another way to see such beautiful scenery.
We then took the walk towards the Glenfinnan Viaduct where we got close up, walked through the Viaduct and took the climb up the mountain route towards the train station. It was the perfect sunny day to soak up the most beautiful views with lots of different angles to capture views of the mountains, the viaduct, monument and Loch. There was a slight chill in the air but it just added to the authenticity of the whole experience.
On the mountain trail we came across a kind man with his dog who was chainsawing trees. It turns out he lives in the little cottage on the grounds and had been the land keeper there for over 40 years.
We then made it to the station and before taking a walk into the local village where we could take on different views from the "Hogwarts" side of the Loch. We then made the walk back towards the monument where we could start to enjoy views of the sunsetting over the Loch.
Just absolutely amazing! I believe it's well worth taking the walk around the area rather than taking the train if you have a choice. We loved it and will cherish the memories forever!
There are two other hiking trails close to the Monument which we get to take but would probably be worth taking if you had an extra hour or two spare to take.

Only 1/2 hr from Fort William. Viaduct and train used in film (Hogwarts Express) Need to check train times as steam train only goes over at 4 set times. Need to get there in plenty of time as car park gets busy and you need to walk under viaduct from car park and up slope for place to take picture/video (not too far or difficult) Plenty of people there all doing the same thing. Nice cafe/gift shop in car park and loch opposite for more great pictures.

There is a good path that goes up to the base of the viaduct but to look down onto the bridge you have to climb and follow the trail which is a steep walk up not wheelchair friendly.
You can get some cracking photos from below though, you can still see the scale and curvature .
