Visited today as a family of 5, entrance fee being £15:95. Mazes were run down and overgrown. The focal points of reaching the middle of each maze were in a state of disrepair. The surrounding grounds were also in a poor state. We did manage to see some of the animals from a distance but again they too looked neglected with my 11 year old saying they looked depressed. So sad, considering it use to be a lovely place to visit.

Ankerwood at Dobbies Atherstone
We visited ankerwood today having been a regular visitor to Plantasia the previous name for this “attraction” before Dobbies took it over we were so disappointed at the state of the place! It looks like they’ve poured all the money into the tiny softplay for under 8s & left the rest to rot?

I appreciate the price to go into the grounds has dropped but it was only on reading the badly handwritten note on the door did we realise the playground & the animals were gone?! It would have bern useful to have that info on your website as we drove from Leamington Spa to be very disappointed!

The outside area looks like it has been barely tended to, the paths are overgrown the children's trail has gone too! As for the animal part we were horrified to see that some animals were still there that we couldn't reach but looked neglected & bored & the area around their pens look like a dumping ground. Is anyone actually tending these animals? Further round was an aviary with some birds no signage to what they were & again their cage was dirty & the water provided was disgusting. I’m awaiting a response from Dobbies on the animal welfare as i was sufficiently concerned enough to consider reporting it to the rspca.

The play area has been ripped out & the old flooring just left there looking dirty & untidy & a real trip hazard! Do they not have any pride in the appearance of the place? The mazes are overgrown & tatty & its clear there is very little care to the grounds!

There is a small cafe on site which is ridiculously expensive & the staff were not the most welcoming! The loos are nice though!

We were so disappointed it used to be such a lovely place to go but I think they can barely justify their entrance fee!

Our first visit on Thursday August 19th 2021 for well over a year due to Covid restrictions, we were with our two great-grandchildren and what a disappointment. First, the ridiculous queueing system which meant people not visiting the soft play area could wander through to the mazes without paying! There was a most unprofessional handwritten notice on the door which could easily be missed giving instructions to pay at the till. Long queue, with people accessing the soft play area and buying food alongside payment for entrance to the mazes, at the same till!!...shambolic! But then our kids were off and enjoyed the mazes as usual, but no 'treasure hunt' as they call it! looking for clues and stamping their cards was a huge enjoyment that has now gone, plus, no animals and the play area removed. And no food available to feed ducks.
Sorry, won't be back!

Can’t tell you how utterly disappointed we were after arriving to discover NO PLAY AREA and NO ANIMALS however this is Not advertised anywhere on their website. There is a hand written notice stuck to the door informing potential customers this information but highlighted it was reduced in price due to not having these things available. The price is not reduced it is exactly as the website states. I spoke to a young girl after asking what there was to do as half the advertised facilities aren’t available any longer. She advised there was a tree top walk, some mazes and a nice walk around the lake but that was all. I asked why information isn’t updated on the website- she shrugged her shoulders and replied she didn’t know but the same question had been asked by other disappointed customers too. The focus is now on a small cafe and not the woodland park and what it previously offered. Consequently we didn’t stay. It was extremely disappointing and we were left exasperated with what used to be a pleasant day out into nothing more than a glorified walk that you can do for free at KIngsbury Waterpark - however there are two decent parks!
Save your money and disappointment.
This place needs some refocusing before you end up with no customers and being left to close down.

We visited here a few years ago when it was still Plantasia. You can see that money has been spent revamping the visitor centre and the soft play area (bit young for my boys!). The mazes are still good fun but do need some TLC. They are starting to look rundown and broken and it is such a shame as this is a really different place to visit and burn off some energy.
A little investment could really pay off - Halloween scare maze, Christmas theme maze?

We visited today with our 11yo, 6yo, 2yo & 10mo. £17.50 for the 6 of us as the 2 youngest are free. I have been before but not for a good few years (5 years, I think!). Firstly, we did have a lovely time. We live less than a 10 minute car journey away so it’s ideal and local for us to visit. However, in the time since I last visited, it’s clear to see that everything has been left to age and nothing has been updated since. My eldest two (now 13 & 11) guard to love collecting the stamps when we used to come years ago however these are no longer around. There are a good few sanitising stations dotted around which was handy. The mazes are a little run down but still good fun to make your way through with the children. The animals area has certainly downsized (although my children loved seeing the ones that were there, and we did too!). The outdoor play area is cordoned off currently (I’m not sure why as lots of places we have visited recently have their outdoor parks open). A few big chunks of the wild walk are cordoned off too. We had planned spending our whole afternoon there but found we were done after just under 2 hours. Quite grateful we hadn’t travelled far to visit really. As it’s a reasonable price for 6 people to go out and my children did enjoy it, I’m not too disappointed however I’m not in a rush to return until a bit of updating & upgrading has taken place. Enjoyable couple of hours with the children but not worth a long drive & I think you’d struggle to make a day of it!

Spoke to a lady on the phone about a last minute booking - she refused to say anything but in a rude and monotonous voice ‘you have to book in 24 hours advance’ despite that not being the question I asked her.
Booked with 24 hours advance and visited anyway - this is a shadow of the former Plantasia it was - the kids would have had the same experience in some woods or a field that would be free to visit.
Hardly any animals
Looked like it had been caught in a storm, run down, missing planks of wood on the tree top trail and my son tripped on some uprooted mesh they’ve put near the water and took the skin off his face. Nearby maintenance guy looked ‘miffed’ when we explained what had happened.
Staff looked generally down and CBA to be there - as the woman on the phones voice also reflected.
Waste of money - if I could be bothered to try and get my money back with attitude I would but have decided they need all the help they can get.
Will not be returning.

This attraction has now been renamed Anker Wood and taken over by the adjacent garden centre.

This has been a tough year for visitor attractions, but that doesn't the lack of maintenance. The mazes are overgrown, and the areas at the centres, which were obviously once very attractive are now neglected - water features either turned off or not working, weeds, including nettles and deadly nightshade, generally scruffy. A large play structure was dilapidated and closed. The treetop walk needs urgent maintenance and most of the information boards were missing. There were fewer animals than the website suggests. We couldn't even get an ice cream, as the cabinet was empty.

Given that the website was announcing that they had just re-opened it was very disappointing. Many of the maintenance issues appeared to be longstanding, and not just the result of being closed through part of the season.

Despite all this, our five year old granddaughter loved the mazes, which is why we've not scored it lower. With a bit of care it could be a lovely place to visit, that offers something a bit different. We really hope that will happen, as, at the moment, it's certainly not fulfilling its potential.
