What a fantastic little place. We popped in during our recent visit to the island. We were there before the station opened but were happily enjoying the view from the end of the pier when we were greeted by a fantastic chap who let us in while he got everything opened. It's a shame I didn't get his name as he was a brilliant ambassador for the RNLI really engaging with us and the kids, especially our youngest who is 7. We spent around half an hour in total looking round the station playing the games that were available for the kids.

We are delighted that you were able to visit Bembridge Lifeboat Station recently to see our Tamar Class All-Weather Lifeboat and so pleased that you found it so interesting & worthwhile. Thank you very much for recommending us to others by giving us an "excellent" review. Our crew and guild members, and in particular our volunteer "Visits" guides & those serving in the "Shop" are extremely proud of the fact that most visitors kindly do always give us 5 out of 5! For anyone reading this response, the daily opening times of our Shop & the Offshore Boathouse are currently 2pm to 4pm (Boathouse closes at 3.50pm). There is a lift for those who can't manage the steps to reach the viewing gallery and we also have a wheel chair (ask in the shop) for those who think the walkway to Offshore Boathouse may be a bit too far for them. For those staying at the Bembridge Coast Hotel, there is normally a weekly talk on the RNLI on Wednesday afternoons at 4.30pm in the Ball Room and conducted tours of the Lifeboat Station on Thursdays and Saturdays at 1.30pm. You will find details in Reception. Please note that we don't launch every Tuesday evening for training. Details of how to keep in touch with us, information on our operational "shouts" and when we are planning on launching for training can be found on our local Bembridge Lifeboat website & Facebook page. Finally, please don't forget to always "Respect the Water". If you find yourself unexpectedly in cold water, fight your instinct to swim and just float for the first three quarters of a minute. I thought (age 8) that the walk way was very high and had a great view. The 3D interactive screens were super. My mum (age 41) thought the staff were knowledgeable and happy to answer lots of questions. My brother (age 6) thought that the 'spot the danger' and the big life boat was cool.

Have visited here a few times on island visits. My great great grandfather was Bembridge Harbour master so I have a family connection to Bembridge. This visit was special, we were here to see the lifeboat launch, and not just from the shore but from the boathouse at the end of the pier. We got there early in order to park and eat fish and chips bought nearby and then joined several hundred people watching the boat launch and go off to do training exercises. While we waited there was an excellent commentary telling us about the boat and how the boathouse was rebuilt. No entrance fee just put what you want in the donation bucket which we were very happy to do. An excellent way to utilise a training launch to raise funds for this wonderful charity

We had a guided tour of the lifeboat station with Mike who was very interesting and informative. We saw the smaller inshore lifeboat and were just walking along the pier to the main lifeboat station when Mike had a 'bleep' on his pager which indicated a real call out. We were lucky enough to be able to see the Crew response and the full launch of the larger lifeboat. It was so efficient and professional, the guys and girls are so dedicated and we found out later that it had been a successful rescue for someone who had fallen overboard. Well done to all the crew and the RNLI.
Even without the launch, the tour was definitely worth doing as we learnt so much about the RNLI.

This was a very interesting and educational visit in a pleasant part of the Isle of Wight. We saw both the offshore and in shore vessels the former being most impressive. We had a great guide in pleasant surroundings although no launch took place.

The staff and crew at the station were superb and very helpful. Our grandchildren enjoyed dressing up in the child sized lifeboat clothing.

It was so great to see the lifeboats and meet some of the crew. The visit was good, but the service provided to mariners, even better! well done

We were delighted that our holiday coincided with a practice life boat launch on the Tuesday evening. It gets busy so best to arrive early (we arrived about 45 mins before the launch) A commentary by the RNLI staff was very informative and interesting.

We went this morning as it was raining and so glad we did. Friendly volunteers and we just missed the launch from inside (but saw from the pier) kids loved trying on the uniforms and the interactive pieces. Friendly volunteers, beautiful beach at Bembridge. Well worth a visit, get there early! Car park is small

My 2nd review on this place. Again we visited with our grandson and other members of family again it didn't disappoint. We got to speak to people in the other station who mentioned they were launching on Tuesday due to training so we visited twice during our visit. Can't get enough of this place. A beautiful setting but also a very needed place. We also found they have increased the parking area which is great. Also this time they had RNLI uniforms for the children to dress up in. Can definitely spend a few hours here looking around the station and shop. Also at low tide a great place for crabbing

Thanks to someone else's review on here we visited for the practice launch night which happens weekly (check their Facebook page)
Free to attend but we did donate at the end
You get an informational talk beforehand and then the crew board and launch the lifeboat which is a great experience to see close up
Kids can also try on the mini lifeboat crew uniforms
Very nice evening out
