The park in itself is exceptional, its the monsoons , there was water everywhere, beautiful flora , fauna , mushrooms and an absolute delight to behold, the densely wooded nature , as well as availability of water everywhere makes sightings difficult, also the forest was very silent no alarm calls really to follow , but of course veera and her cubs we saw in great proximity ❤️
Tadoba being as popular as it is , the administration can take more efforts for visitors, the facilities/ toilets are abysmal and the jeeps in very bad condition, this is reflective off the indifference of the management, and lack of accountability

Great place to go on a safari - we went to Alijanza gate in the morning and Belara in the afternoon - the guides are amazing and have been tracking tigers for ages, know how to read paw prints and listen to other animal calls to identify if tiger is in the area.
We went in July when the core zone is closed due to monsoon and tiger spotting hard because there is water everywhere and tigers don’t venture out. You can only safari in the buffer zone. Despite that we spotted tiger, black bear, Sambar, Cheetal, wild dogs, wild boar and many birds including peacocks
Overall the guides and drivers were awesome and really vested in showing us the nature and its beauty despite the heat and humidity
If you love safaris then this one is not to be missed

Tadoba is worth visiting. Chances of sighting in Tadoba is pretty decent. Forest has 23 entry gates and as of June 2024, there are about 7 alpha male tigers and their families in the jungle. We drove to Tadoba from Hyderabad. Best route to take is NH363. You go via Siddipet, Karimnagar, and Asifabad. It is the shortest route compared to NH44. Drive is about 7 hour if you don't cross speed limits!

I visited Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve in the month of March along with my family and friends and had an amazing time in the woods of Central India. We did around 8-9 safaris in core and buffer area and sighted tigers up close almost in every safari. The highlight of the trip was the sighting of Veera (Female Tiger) and Xylo (Male Tiger) on our last safari in Belara buffer zone.
Our bookings were done by TravelGleam Wild (9958993316 , 9899954675) and their knowledge and insight about the jungle is exceptional. I highly recommend their services and the entire booking process is transparent and hassle free.
Thanks to the team for booking our safaris and resort, it was a memorable journey in the wild

Tadoba actually bans iPhones which was a huge disappointment and there seems no logical rationale behind it. It also means that many park visitors are prevented from taking home lasting memories of what they see, which is a shame. No other parks ban iPhones. Guests are driven to their allocated gate and then transfer into a jeep provided by the park. The jeep comes with a park appointed driver and park naturalist. Unfortunately, the majority of the park naturalists we had simply sat in the front of the jeep, did not engage and did not look out for wildlife, mainly relying on sighting a gathering of other jeeps to find animals.
The park drivers need more training on how to position the jeeps for photographs and also not be so keen on getting as near as possible to a particular animal which then causes that animal to run off and therefore spoil the experience for the guest. That said, of our 10 back to back safaris (which were great), we had one good park naturalist and driver who tracked animals and even spotted a young male leopard in the bamboo next to the road. Generally, there seemed to be less driver discipline than in Pench, with about 40 jeeps jostling for position and crowding around one tiger in a core zone which, to be fair, seemed to be loving the attention and was quite happily walking along the dirt track as jeeps weaved in and out to get the best position. However, as an experience for a tourist, it was not so good. That said, when we were in one of the buffer zones, discipline was better. Whilst the overall experience was poor/average, we had some amazing sightings.
The park authority needs to address these observations.

Visited in April 2024 having also visited in Oct 2019. We had 7 safaris all in the core zone from the Khutwanda gate.
Indian parks are MUCH different than safaris in Africa but if you want to see tiger and other initiatives game then this is where you have to be. We had a lodge provided Naturalist as well as the park guide and driver. We were very dissapointed with the np guides, one of who spent quite some time on his phone (which are not allowed in the park). Several did not say very much and they're is little 'spotting'. Much of the time the strategy appears to be to just rush to where tiger was last seen and wait with 10-15 other vehicles.
If anything significant is seen then be prepared for a mad scramble and 20 vehicles all jostling to get a spot. At least the animals don't seem to be bothered by this in the slightest and can quickly dissapear into the bush.
We saw 9 different tiger over 12 sightings, 2 south bear, numerous wild dog and lots of other animals and birds.

The game drives were different from what I was used to in Africa. There are a lot fewer species and densities. It is rare to have a longer quality sighting. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I had only 3 good sightings in 6 drives (2 tiger sightings and 1 wild dog), the rest were either very distant, or messed up by the number of gypsies (small jeeps) wrestling for the best position eventually scaring the tiger back to the dense bush (well done guys!!!!). This eventually resulted in not really enjoying nature here at all on my sixth drive which I cut a bit shorter.
The landscape is not that great. And it is 40 degrees in Mar-May.

Tadoba National Park can be reached in four hours from Pench NP and otherwise from Nagpur Airport. 80% of the park is closed to tourism. The remaining 20% can be visited through the gate for which you have a permit. Once you have acquired one of these permits, changing is only possible with considerable effort. It is therefore worth booking in good time and paying attention to booking different entry gates in order to get the most comprehensive and varied picture of the park.
The park cannot be visited with your own (or rented) vehicle. You have to rely on one of the small Suzuki jeeps registered with the park, which have a driver and a guide. Allocation takes place on a rotational basis.
The game I saw here was tigers and leopards, axis deer and sambar deer and langurs everywhere, impressive herds of gaurs of 20 animals and a pack of red dogs.

Our trip to Tadoba did not disappoint and this was a brilliant experience. Safaris are in jeeps and there are Canters (large safari buses) for larger groups Each vehicle has a Guide/Naturalist (some appear more motivated than others to spot a range of wildlife) and a driver. We had 7 drives 4 early morning and 3 late afternoon. We would recommend that you get there early (5.30am) to get your guide organised. Our driver collected us from our safari Lodge so the jeep was part of our package but this service would need to be checked when you book your accommodation. Additionally if you are booking your accommodation independently do check which gate is nearest to your hotel to avoid a lengthy drive to the park as there are a number of different entrances. It is essential to pre book your visit well in advance: we had booked about 11months ahead and you will need identification (passport or driving licenec) which you show at the gate to confirm your booking. There are two different tickets available for core and buffer zone. The core is the main section of the park which has some roads and cleared tracks which can make for a less bumpy ride. The buffer zone seems wilder and are all tracks. We had success in both the buffer zone and the core but in our experience the buffer zone was less crowded. Mobile phones are not allowed into the park and you will need a camera permit for SLR. Helpfully there are a number of stalls at each gate where telescopic lenses can be hired.
Within minutes of our first game drive we spotted a female tigress walking down the road: we were so excited to see one so soon! Our luck with tigers continued over 6 of the 7 drives with clear sightings in most cases. But Tadoba is not only about the tigers although these are clearly classed as the biggest draw and the guides to rave to them if they are in the area . There were 4 types of deer, Indian Gaur, birds, and a range of other mammals. We also saw 3 packs of Indian wild dogs (Dhole) on 3 separate occasions, but these are generally elusive, and so we were more than excited with these sightings.
A trip to Tadoba is about seeing nature at its best, but nothing is guaranteed. It is important to remember that on the whole any sightings are by chance rather than by managing the drive. We were incredibly lucky!

Hi, how much to tip to guide and driver say after a good sighting safari, ok sighting safari and say no sighting..
Skrevet 26. august 2024
Is there any advantage in booking safari/ gypsy directly online from govt website vis a vis thru local agents/ hotels. As in paying local agents/ hotels for booking does it offer better guides/ drivers to enhance chances of sighting which otherwise might depend on luck as rotation/random allocation might ve there at the gate .. thanks in advance for answering this..
Skrevet 25. august 2024
I always book through the place i am staying in , yes drivers and guides are on rotation, i use a naturalist from my place of stay .

Is doing multiple canter rides over many days a viable option compared to a Jeep safari? Viable from the point of view of sightings of various animals and not cost.

Which part of Tadoba is recommended if we want to visit now in Aug 2021, are there any sightings in the buffer zone now?
Skrevet 18. august 2021
Hi Megha, Apologies for late response. Yes, sightings are a regular feature. Specially early morning.
Enjoy your trip. It’s an experience for a life time.

I would like to know whether Tadoba National park core zone is closed on Tuesday ? Planning a trip in May hence would like to know all details before proceeding. Also Pench national park is closed on which day of the week ? How does one do the safari bookings? If a family of 3 will be traveling, do I still need to book an entire gypsy or is it in per person basis? Thank you in advance.
Skrevet 24. februar 2020
I do not know if they are closed during some weekdays, I suggest you contact them for this answer.
You do not need to rent an entire Gypsy, you can pay per person basis.
