Se puede ir en tour incluyendo termas y/o visita a cascada, o por cuenta propia.
El camino para llegar desde Yanque es sencillo.
El complejo posee centro de visita, sin embargo, se encontraba cerrado.
Las ruinas están bien conservadas y poseen señaléticas que explican su historia.

Edificaciones de piedra irregular combinada con piedra regular en esquinas y enmarcamiento de ingresos, espacio plaza central con una buena conformación urbana, recorrido principal con escalinatas de piedra con un canal de agua, muy interesante ciudadela

We came here on our own and just walked around. Having been to Machu Picchu the previous day, it was nice to have a quiet hike without a guide. Overall a really nice site.

These ruins are the remains of a town that was destroyed by the Spanish. We went on a guided hike from Killawasi Lodge (included in the tariff for the lodge). Great views from the top and a very interesting story. Recommended. There is a small entrance fee (5 soles per person). We were the only people there!

Wir sind von Yanque aus über die Brücke hoch nach Uyo-uyo gelaufen. Kurz nach der Straße auf der anderen Seite gibt es eine kleine Station wo man zehn Soles Eintritt bezahlen muss und kann dann alleine nach oben laufen und sich alles in Ruhe anschauen. Der Weg von Yanque ist nicht sehr anspruchsvoll man kann direkt wieder zurück laufen oder weiter unten durch das Grundstück eines Hotels und der öffentlichen Quellen wieder auf die andere Seite gelangen.

This place should become known as a good option to visit because it is not crowded of a lot of typical tourists and the most important thing is that it show us other kind of cultures .

Se da Yanque volete fare una camminata di circa 3 ore potete unire la natura alla storia visitando l'interessante sito archeologico di Uyo Uyo. Per arrivarci dovrete percorrere una strada perlopiù sterrata tra terrazze coltivate asini e vacche al pascolo attraversando il fiume su un ponte di legno. Il sito merita una visita. Passate per il turist point e registratevi. Il costo con guida è di 5. Terminata la visita potete rientrare proseguendo verso i bagni.

Es un paseo agradable con ruinas, para pasar la mañana. Tienen descuento para estudiantes aunque en la entrada no lo ponga.

We walked from the Colca Canyon Lodge and it wouldn't have been a big walk had it not been for the altitude. It is only 600m up a steep path but I struggled due to the heat and not being used to the altitude. It is dusty so bring good walking trainers. There is a good view at the top and we had the ruins to ourselves. There is a 5 soles cash payment and some toilets at the entrance (no running water though) The man at the entrance tried to explain some of the ruins to us but we didn't understand Spanish much. It is worth a walk to see it.

My wife and I walked alone from The Killawasi Lodge,across the Colca Valley and up to the ruins and back down. Lovely 2 hour walk with great views of the terracing in the valley. The ruins are a lasting testament to what the Spanish did to local villages. Notices are only in Spanish. If you have transport you can drive to the visitor centre and from there it is only 600 metres on quite a steep path to the start of the ruins. Should cost 5 soles but there was no one there to collect when we went! Worth wearing good walking shoes!

is the uyo uyo hike very steep? Are there steps that we need to climb? if yes, are there railings that one can hold on to if there are steps? i am slightly uncomfortable of heights and climbing down rocky paths where there is no well defined trails. Appreciate inputs fro people who have done this hike.

The hike is not steep at all - it's actually a nice walk. It took us around 1,5 hours. I do not recall rocky paths.

Do you need an entrance ticket to visit the colca canyon and the uyo uyo site? If so, can we buy there or we need to purchase in advance?

When I was there in January there was no one there. I think I remember something that looked like a ticket office, but I saw no one. January is the low season - as far as I could tell there were only about 5 tourists in Yanque, so it may be that the ticket office is only open in the high season. The site is not fenced.

How long did it take you to do the hike? Is it strenuous? We will be staying at the Lodge and will be hiking on our own. Are walking shoes okay or do we need hiking boots?
Did you do Huyan Picchu while in the sacred valley? How do the hikes compare?

The hike to UyuUyu is about 1-1.5 k only (1 mile max). However it is uphill and a little rough If you normally bring and use trekking shoes then use them. However, runners would be fine!
The climb up and down Huaynu Picchu (little mountain) is a different story. It involves steep and narrow steps with little protection from going over the edge. It can only be done on a combination ticket to the citadel of Machu Picchu ("big mountain"). It's about 350 metres (1000ft) above the citadel and the view down can be to die for. If you suffer from vertigo, you will be miserable! It is dangerous. If you get injured on this rock, you will find help hard to get as everyone is worried about themselves. As a guide, we are almost 70 but running fit. Had no problems but would not rush to do it again!!!!
