A truly marvellous experience from making the booking, through being so well looked after by the Classic Wings team at Duxford, to the 'dream come true' flight in my favourite aircraft of all time.
Awesome; simply awesome. I'm now even more in love with this iconic plane than ever before.
Very special thanks to Tim and to Jo, each of whom couldn't have done any more to prepare me and to help make the day so unforgettable for my wife and I.
Extra special thanks to Pilot Andy - you are a superstar!
Hoping to come back to do another Spitfire flight in 2024 - I haven't got this 'out of my system' just yet.

A dream come true with a 50 minute Spitfire flight. From the moment we arrived the ground crew Will, Laura & Richard made the whole experience special, fully briefing me and keeping my wife informed on what was happening every step of the way - a massive thanks to all three for making this experience everything we dreamed it would be.
Next a chat with the amazing pilot Andy to discuss what I wanted to do and it was time to ‘strap in’ ready to taxi out. The smell and the sound really stirred the emotions! Then it was time to take off and climb out to the north with Andy quickly letting me take the controls and have a go myself… handing control back to Andy we then started swooping amongst the clouds before completing the first few victory rolls and wing overs… utterly breath taking and very emotional.
Off to Grafham Water where Andy again let me take control to fly around the beautiful lake. Next it was over to the former RAF Wyton to do a tribute victory roll and wing over to the brave aircrew of The Pathfinders with a wing waggle as we left.
Final few victory rolls and wing overs before we returned to Duxford.
If this one is on your ‘bucket list’ then I can’t recommend it enough - worth every penny!

I enjoyed a superb flight in clear weather in the Dragon Rapide. This experience is not for the nervous flyer, but if you enjoy a bit of old-fashioned rattling, along with the smell of avgas & hydraulic fluid, this is for you. We were fully briefed before the flight (All 6 of us) and allocated seats based on our weight. The pilot was friendly and flew with skill & aplomb, giving us great views of Cambridge, Newmarket & Ely as well as the Cambridgeshire countryside.

Myself & my son booked a spur of the moment flight on the Cessna whilst having a day out At IWM Duxford.The young man who took our booking was absolutely lovely & our pilot Stuart went above & beyond to make my sons treat even more memorable.I’m so grateful to Stuart it was an absolute pleasure to meet him.My son was so happy that he not only got to fly in the plane he also flew the plane briefly.He says it’s the best day of his life,Even though he had to run for the taxi 😂

Such a shame that a gift for my dad's birthday has been ruined. Booked the Dragon Rapide flight and they canceled on us not once but twice. We were only informed by SMS at the last minute (the second time 300 miles into our journey).
When I called the reception was both unhelpful and confrontational, never offering constructive help but rather telling me in effect, that's your problem. After the second cancellation, I emailed to say that this was now unreasonable as my Dad is 72 and his partner is disabled. I was told they would pass my email on to the manager who didn't even have the decency to reply to my message.
Take my advice as you will thank me for it. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!! Bad management and terrible customer service. There are lots of other companies to do Spitfire flights, I strongly suggest using one of them.
READ THEIR TERMS AND CONDITIONS - UNLIKE any other company, they refuse ALL refunds. They are the Ryanair of classic flights.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We never want to hear of customers being unhappy with our service and take this very seriously.
Whenever cancellations are made it will be for safety reasons and more often than not, weather.
While we fully understand that cancellations are disappointing we would never compromise the safety of you and your family. Our SMS and email system is the most efficient way to contact groups of people at high speed rather than trying to contact everyone individually by phone and we do this as soon as a conclusive weather forecast is available. Unfortunately this is sometimes not until the day of the flight. We appreciate this is more of a challenge for those travelling long distances.
With regards to our terms and conditions these are very much industry standard and most certainly in line with other experience providers. Our customers never lose out on their experiences and are always offered alternative dates to fly.

My wife booked a 30 minute Spitfire flight as a special treat for my 60th birthday, it was something I had wanted to experience since I was a child.
When we arrived we had been monitoring the weather all the previous day as there was a storm front approaching and it was explained for my own safety that if wind conditions or visibility reached a stage where it would be questionable to fly, then the flight would be postponed, even though this would have been disappointing, we totally understood this was a necessary precaution as this beautiful aircraft is around eighty years old and it’s obviously not like flying in a modern aircraft. Luckily for me the storm held off and my flight went ahead as planned.
I have to say the whole experience didn’t disappoint in any way, starting with the staff who were very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable, I immediately felt in safe hands, everything was very well explained, especially the safety procedures and drills should the unlikely happen and something go wrong. My pilot Steve went through everything before take off, including asking if I wanted to take the controls once airborne and whether I was comfortable with him carrying out some aerobatic manoeuvres, I of course said yes to both and he talked me through both of these on the ground and again once we were in the air. I had opted for the 30 minute experience and it seemed a lot longer, it was an experience I shall cherish.

I can`t be bothered with reviews. You get asked to review everything these days and frankly I have better things to do..... but then I did this !
I am a huge aviation fan and this was my 60th birthday present, organised by my wife with the rest of my family all contributing.
For me, this was one of the most amazing things I have ever done. To start with, the ground crew of Jo, Laura and Tim were wonderful. Between them they give you your safety instructions and pre-flight briefing before kitting you out strapping you
in. They let you take your time and take it all in.
Then there was my pilot Adam. The guy gave me 2 victory rolls and let me take control myself for a short time.
I had a dozen members of my family come and watch me including my young grandson who to his delight was placed in the cockpit while the rest of my family looked around the spitfire and took pictures. There was absolutely no hint of trying
to rush me through and getting the next punter up in the air. I can only thank the four of them for making it a very relaxed and memorable experience.
Clearly this is not something that is cheap to do but then this is no ordinary experience. In my opinion this is not just any warbird, it is the warbird. The noise, the smell, the feel as you give the slightest of movement on the control column. The view from each side of the cockpit has an elliptical wing in it. Victory rolls ! it just doesn`t get any more iconic. If you are a true aviation fan the memory of this experience will stay with you forever, long after what it cost has been forgotten.

I booked a Rapide flight experience for my partner and myself July 2022 (£399.00). First time got cancelled due to the Queens funeral. The second time in April due to weather although the weather seemed ok in the morning. So by now 2 overnight accommodations and petrol expense. I asked for our money back but they refused. I explained that my partner was diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica and does not know how he will feel in the morning. 3rd time, we were almost near Duxford and a phone call to say London air traffic control have closed the airspace over London for pleasure flights. An hour before flying! I have asked for money back. No response to date and they have had my money for over a year!

We are so sorry that you have had a run of bad luck with your booking. This is very rare indeed.
Obviously the events that have happened have been totally out of our control and completely unavoidable but nonetheless we do recognise cancellations are disappointing. The recent airspace closure was not notified to any London users until the day and we understand it was due to a visit from an overseas dignitary.
We will communicate with you directly on this matter.
We fly thousands of very satisfied customers year on year and have done for well over 30 years. We never want to see anyone unsatisfied and work hard to make sure our customers receive first class customer service.

Great flight over London in a Dragon Rapide. Staff were helpful and would highly recommend if you want to fly in a vintage plane.

Hello there all in Duxford at Classic Wings!
I let Sue know to forward our grateful thanks to all the team at Duxford for My husbands flight which was brought forward to 9.30 am on Fathers Day!
This was a special long awaited gift for his 75th Birthday in January of this year which I booked not realising the 18th of June was Father’s Day and all the family, eleven of us in all travelled to Cambridge the night before from the Manchester area. It was also great as both our son and son-in-law spent Father’s Day at Duxford too!
To state the obvious this was an extremely welcome gift for my husband as he worked in the Aircraft Industry all his life from leaving school. He had a flight in a Cessna at Liverpool and a Tiger Moth in Derbyshire on previous special birthdays.
I booked Duxford for the Battle of Britain last year as we had always said we would go and it was so amazing and extremely touching and very special special 🤩
We also spent the second day at Duxford last year as I had booked a Sit in a Spitfire for my husband which was for an anniversary present in September which he was so made up about!
So the next step had to be a Flight in his favourite Aircraft!
The Duxford flight team from Sue and colleagues (office staff) rspecially Duncan the superb Pilot, Trevor, Ian, John, Keith! Stuart and Will and all the Fantastic Flight Team at Duxford are amazingly organised and so very friendly and helpful. I was so excited myself that I hugged Keith and thanked him and I’m now known as the Duxford Hugger 🤣
What a wonderful set up and crew. None of us will forget this Spitfire Flight day as Duncan also explained about the plane to our five Grandchildren about the Spitfire as well as taking my husband up to fly the Wonderful Spitfire and he did two Victory Rolls over Grafham Water and Cambridge. He also let my husband take over control for a short time.
He was briefed then kitted out in a flying suite before boarding his marvellous flight!
I bought a few Video sticks and we are so pleased as it makes you relive it all again.
This day was so special also as Duncan the lovely pilot also trained with my husbands third cousin at Cranwell and are good friends still which was an unbelievable twist in our Spitfire story.
Once again many thanks to everyone and hope to see you all again in the future!

If it's raining on the day of my husband's flight do you still fly?

Safety is always our first priority so naturally weather is a consideration.
If it’s unsuitable on the day of your flight you will be able to book an alternative date.
Of course we will do everything we can to fly you on the day of your original booking.
I have appendix cancer could I still be allowed to fly in the tiger moth I feel ok in myself could get aboard only other thing would I have trouble using the parachute I have fistulas in my abdomen this is a bucket list thing I always wanted to do

We certainly don't have an issue with that at all but would ask you to seek advice from your doctor to ensure there is no risk to you.
Providing your doctor is happy then so are we.
