Interesting glimpse into social history. One ticket for the three part experience. Small but very informative museum about the development of Port Sunlight village and what is now Unilever. Make sure you watch the film as well as read in the information. Visit the worker's cottage next door. A few minutes walk away is the Soapworks showing how soap is made. It's aimed at children but worth a visit for adults too.

Spent a good 2 hours. Could have spent longer. Very good value for money. Gave a good insight into a village built for the workers of the Lever soap factory.

We visited yesterday and had a great time; spending longer than we thought we would in Port Sunlight. The place is certainly unique and the different architecture of each house is amazing to see. The museum is small but perfectly formed with lots of info on the history of the factory and village. You can visit a house that’s set up as it would have been in the early 20th century and drop into the soap works to learn about the science bit. I really felt that the volunteers / staff made our visit a 5 star day out. From the moment we arrived, the lady in the museum was extremely helpful and this continued throughout with everyone appearing so passionate about their work. I’ll finish by saying that Dave was so informative during our walking tour. He was brought up in the village and is passionate about keeping its heritage alive. If you’re going to visit, buy the museum and walking tour ticket; you won’t be disappointed

Lovely little museum with a shop selling Sunlight Soap! There is an informative video telling all about the village, the workers and the houses they lived in. Then you get to visit one of the homes, dressed as how it would have looked in the day! Very humbling, but really this was the height of luxury at the time, with hot running water. (There is also a website you can visit that shows you plans of the homes and the layout of the rooms, in latter years of course, bedrooms have been turned into a bathroom).
Part of the tour included visiting the Soapworks down the road, not the actual Unilever's factory, but more a museum telling you about all the goods that are made, in a child friendly way.

Thrilled to hear you enjoyed your time with us. Thank you for visiting and taking time to write this review, we do appreciate the feedback. The film is a highlight, detailing the local residents that worked in the factory and played by local actors too. Running hot water was the talk of the village! SoapWorks is our gallery based on the production of soap - what Port Sunlight was built upon - not literally, there'd be too many bubbles. Glad you enjoyed it, SoapWorks does give everyone the opportunity to bring out their inner child.

We've enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Port Sunlight. Firstly we had the 2pm walking tour with John, a welcoming and knowledgeable volunteer guide who'd grown up in the village. And then visited the museum; friendly staff, informative displays and interesting 20 minute film. Tasty, freshly made sandwiches from the gallery were an extra bonus!

I would really recommend visiting both for the museum but especially the walking tour. John was so informative.
The museum is very well thought out and you can tell it’s privately owned through a trust rather than council owned. A lot of thought had gone into the display and information boards.
Gift shop staff were also very friendly and informative. You are very lucky to have such super volunteers and staff.

I had a really good day out in Port Sunlight. It’s a short walk from Bebington Station (or Port Sunlight). The staff were really helpful and gave me the best ticket deal. I combined the museum with the walking tour and both were excellent and very informative. The village itself is amazing, very picturesque, well kept with interesting architecture and history. I also went to the nearby Lady Lever Art Gallery. It’s well worth visiting and a great day out from Liverpool.

Very informative with great staff. The Soapworks addition was good, not just for children! Alex was very informative. Just a thought, would a costumed interpreter add a “little something” to the experience? They have a couple at nearby Quarry Bank who were great!

Dogs aren’t allowed in the museum or workers cottage but can be walked all around the village.

Is it suitable for disabled or those who cannot walk very far
It is a small exhibition all on one level with a level entry from the street. The staff there are very helpful and friendly and will assist those with difficulties.
