The owner of the hotel we were staying at set my cousin and I up with Fernando from Colanguil Adventure & Expeditions when we mentioned we were interested in a day of horseback riding. We had no idea what an incredible and unforgettable experience we were in for. We were picked up from our hotel in Chacras de Coria and driven about an hour into the Andes mountains, where the driver stopped along the way for us to take in the view and take some photos. We got to Fernando's house around 11am and were greeted by him and his three dogs, one of which followed us the whole day while we rode. We were given hats and before we knew it, were on horseback and trekking through the river and up into the mountains.
Without a soul in site besides some wild horses, we rode for about three hours, to the top of the mountain and back down. Fernando lead the pack and the horse handler rode behind us. The horses were surefooted and cautious and despite being near the edge of the mountain most of the time, I felt very secure and safe. It was an absolutely incredible experience that I truthfully, have a hard time putting into words. I don't think I stopped smiling the entire time and would chalk this up to one of the most amazing things I have ever done!!
When we finished the ride, Fernando took us to a local restaurant and then personally drove us back to Mendoza. All-in-all, an incredible day that we will never forget.
If you are considering horseback riding while in Mendoza, don't think twice about booking with Fernando. You won't regret it. Thank you, Fernando for the most incredible experience and we cannot wait to come back and will continue recommending this experience to anyone visiting Mendoza!

We had the best day with Fernado and Eduardo. We hiked the Andes and they put together a great lunch at the summit. They were funny and very gracious host. I would highly recommend.

He was so kind to all of us and always smiling or laughing. He hiked so effortlessly up the mountain, as we slowly followed him, so that I forgot he was carrying the backpack with our lunch, and all extra/emergency supplies. It took us about 2 1/2 hours to hike up, and then he presented quite the varied and complete lunch at the top. We had a gorgeous sunny day with clear skies to enjoy the magnificent view from the summit. We only took about an hour to come down, and we learned how to take giant steps in the loose rock, and plant our heels, to get down it faster. Absolutely no hesitation recommending Fefi for your hiking adventure near Mendoza!

We had a wonderful trip on horseback into the foothills of the Andes with our guide Fernando . I am no horseman so was a little nervous about riding for the first time in years but I spent the day grinning from ear to ear . After an hour or so we sat with a picnic and a bottle of wine looking out over a fine view . One of the highlights of our trip . Can't thank Fernando enough !

This review is LONG OVERDUE!!! Today was my 4th adventure/expedition with the incredible Fefi, as we summited yet another mountain in the Andes. My husband is an avid mountaineer, and I'm a ballerina. Safety and comfort on any mountain is key for me, and this man is a warrior. He has carried me up mountains when I wasn't feeling my best, tended to me as if I were a family member, and today he offered tremendous support to my husband who tore a muscle half way up the mountain. He has become like family to us, and I could not recommend him more highly. He is a seasoned mountaineer, a kind and compassionate man, and a delight to be around. And, he will get you to the summit and back with a smile on your face. He is incredible and Colanguil deserves to be the first choice for anyone looking for adventure in the Andes.

We have been hiking in the mountains before, but never with a guide, and never in quite as remote a place as Mendoza. Here you need a guide. While parts of the trails are well marked, parts are not. Fernando took us on an amazing adventure that we would not have had if we had been worried about being able to find our way back. His English is near-perfect, and he was able to tell us so much about the mountain, the vegetation and animals, the life of the local people, including his own family, and so much more. Getting to know all of this added so much to the experience! He had with him a backpack that had everything you could possibly need - extra jackets, gloves, water, food, safety and first aid equipment (didn't need it!) He also helped us navigate a few slippery/rocky parts of the trail, steadying us as necessary even while he carried his heavy backpack. After the hike, we went into a hostel at the base of the trail, where he provided lunch - sandwiches, chips, wine and even dessert. (Lunch is normally along the trail, but it was too cold the day we were there in May, which is late fall in Argentina). If you want to go hiking in Mendoza, you need to go with Fernando!

it was a bus ride for approx 12 hours.
If we would have known it was a day on a bus we wouldnt have gone, thought it was a hiking adventure.
Beautiful nature "from the road"
The guide spoke good english and the whole trip was okay, just it wasnt what we expected.

Señor para saber si esta salida corresponde a nuestra compañia le pido por favor especifique: nombre de su guia de montaña. Fecha de la actividad y que actividad usted contrato. Y en que hotel estaba alojado. A fin de determinar lo sucedido. Nuestras actividades son en vehiculos privados y NO en autobus.

Fernando was excellent ! The route far away form Aconcagua but pretty close to Mendoza city was incredible. The lunch was generous, the pace was good for all and the views amazing ! This is a little hidden corner of the mountain. We where very happy and we hope to come again to walk with Colanguil and fernando !

We definetly chose the wrong day to go for a Hike, unfortunatly the conditions were not friendly with rain and low visibiltity. Nevertheless, Fefi our Guide stayed positiv and went for a little hike with us. He is a very nice and funny guy, who knows the mountains very well. We recommend to go with him, but check the weatherforecast ahead!

We had a fantastic day hike with Fernando (Fefi) up Andresito. Fernando is local to the area and thus well informed as well as being fun with an energetic good sense of humor.
At the summit a condor circled us for quite a long time. Was he interested in our picnic lunch, us, or just wondering who these interlopers were to this fantastic world? On the trip back down we took a different route through beautiful vegas (spring) areas lush with bright fragrant low flowers in swiss-mountain like meadows. A very enjoyable day. we highly recommend that you work with Colanguil and Fernando!
