There are plenty of sightseeing ferries and so on, and it can be enjoyed from both the land and sea sides.
There are also plenty of cafes where you can spend your time looking out at the sea in the town lined with funaya. However, there are many cafes that are full because there are many tourists.
The puddings, which can only be bought here at the ferry dock, are also cutely recommended in bottles.

The village of Ine and the Funaya or boat houses that sit on Ine Bay with access to the Japan Sea are quite unique and old-world Japan. There are some 230 of the houses most well preserved. that were used by fishermen. An interesting place to walk and visit. There was a local bus service that ran from Miyazu to Ine but suggest you get local advice as to the number and frequency.

Took a boat ride for this activity, you can also walk around the place but since I was in a paid tour only had the boat ride. So during the boat ride, you get to see the village from the bay and feed the seagulls and eagles. Beware of the sharp claws. Overall something relaxing from the hustle and bustle of the big cities

This picture perfect village on the Kyoto Perfecture offers serene view, cool walk on the Ine Bay, seagull feeding during the bay cruise and many more. The main attraction is a ferry ride in the bay and feeding seagulls and kites. You can buy food for them and seagulls come and take food from your hand. As soon as the ferry starts, flocks of seagulls and kites start following the ferry for the food. The cruise operate from 9 am till 4 pm and costs ¥1200 pp and ¥600 for child.
We visited this sleepy village during our recent visit to Japan. It was a clear day. The ferry ride was really enjoyable. Good experience.

The view here is splendid. Ine no Funaya is the favourite place for me and my husband in our Kyoto - Osaka trip.
The transportation may not be convenient and that's where the beauty is. Not crowded, natural beauty of the sea and fish village.
Not much of food choice or accommodation, but it's where you got to return to the beauty and simplicity of mother nature gives us.

It was a living space that could only be seen here. Recently, old houses have been renovated and turned into stylish accommodation facilities, which are apparently popular with foreign tourists.
We took a 25-minute sightseeing boat ride to view the boat houses. The boat was full with many Chinese and Korean people, and everyone bought Kappa Ebisen snacks and went out to the second-floor deck to feed the seagulls. The sight of the seagulls flocking together was spectacular.

Ine no Funaya is a seaside fishing village in North Kyoto. This village is famous for its fishermen's houses on the seashore where the lower part of the house is used as a garage or boat mooring. We just took a cruise ship in the bay and saw the village from the boat. We did not enter the village.
This is the third stop in a series of north Kyoto daytrips that we booked via Klook.
Cruise around the bay using a ferry. We are invited to tour the bay while looking at the small islands there and the fishing village of Ine no Funaya which appears to be a row of buildings with distinctive architecture. On this cruise we can feed seabirds, both seagulls and eagles, by buying shrimp crackers at the ferry pier. These birds are used to humans. As soon as the ship was underway, the birds immediately flew around the ferry. In fact, the activity of feeding birds is so exciting and fun that we can forget about the view.
Recommended to visit, the view is quite beautiful, and we had fun feeding the sea birds.

I took a sea taxi operated by a fisherman. I had to call and make a reservation, which seemed a bit daunting, but since it was the holidays, I heard that they would be waiting for me next to the Shichimenzan parking lot, so I got on a boat that was parked there.
It only seats about 15 people, but by chance, no one else was there, so we set sail with our own charter.
The young captain was friendly and kind, and he showed me around Ine Bay while talking to me, which was very satisfying.
The regular sightseeing boat departing from the other side of the bay was packed, and seagulls followed us, which was also fun, but the fare was the same, so the sea taxi was a good choice.

Although I didn't book a boat house, it's still worth visiting here. You can rent a bicycle for free at the information center with a deposit of 2,000 yen. You can also take a sightseeing boat to see the boat houses and feed seagulls and eagles. Cycle along Ine Bay. The weather is very good this season. The colors of the sea and sky are great. You can get off the car and take pictures at any time. Drink coffee and watch the sea at the Hiyori Coffee Shop. Eat delicious seafood rice on the second floor of the information center. It's great! Most of the shops here are closed on Wednesdays, so please be careful to avoid them!

Hello,
Does anyone know a good place to stay near the funaya?
Thank you!
Skrevet 23. september 2019
If you can speak Japanese or you are coming with Japanese, there are quiet a lot of options. If not, there are only two or three boat house you can choose from. You can check the website here to seek for English speaking ones. try search on Google: "Association of promotion for Japan Authentic Stay in Ine-ura area" It is highly recommended that you can reserve the rooms 3 months in advance, because most of the boat house only offer 1~2 rooms each night.

Are there any places online that you can book a room in a funaya or Inn on the water at Ine.
Skrevet 1. mai 2017
We are looking for a funaya (Inn) at Ine to stay for the night of 5th July for 3 adults.
Skrevet 1. mai 2017
You can go to the town's official website to check out the accommodation. However, all the B&Bs there don't have websites, so the only way to make reservation is through phone. And it will be better if you find someone who can speak Japanese to help.
