Just great. Chilterns are under valued as a walking place. You will need wellies in winter. Hard to ride a bike on the trails.

You could spend a lifetime walking in the Chilterns without repeating a whole route or getting bored. This time I yomped from Great Missenden and followed the South Bucks Way towards Dunsmore before peeling off to have a lovely lunch at the Firecrest pub near Little London on the main A413 road. Fabulous views and plenty of shade while walking through woodland en route, which was just as well on a searing hot day.

I walked part of the Chiltern Trail while doing the Ordinance Survey's Little Kimble to Great Missenden walk (10 Miles). This is outstanding countryside, a beautiful location and one I very much recommend for all abilities. The weather wasn't great the day I did it but still very enjoyable. Lot's of green English countryside and wooded areas, I saw a lot of Red Kites, and also took a stroll past the PM's weekend pad, Chequers.

Some delightful walks in the woodlands but try and go when the bluebells are out especially in some of the older woods

The area around Great Missenden offers plenty of walking options although many of them do involve some hill climbing. Quite a few walks pass through woodland and you are not so far from Chequers. For great views seen after a shortish hilly climb I'd recommend parking in Wendover and climbing up Winchcombe hill. You can get there from Great Missenden but it would take you about 2 hours walking. I don't think I can recommend the area for young children unless you do the walk described above.

A lovely woodland area with great walks, went late last summer, but have recently been told to go in the Spring and see the Blue Bells. Looking forward to some warmer weather so we are able to explore again.

The walks round this area are amazing. Classic British countryside. Some of the walks can be quite hilly some winding through woods others they run along farming land so there is a wide choice. When the weather is good it truly is lovely to walk around in the Chilterns.

Een fijne wandeling (ongeveer een uurtje)
Geen moeilijkheidsgraad. Je gaat door velden en bossen.
De wandeling is perfect om de buurt van Great Missenden te ontdekken.

You can walk on very well kept woodland and enjoy the finest of nature with the bluebells at the moment and explore the country side as it comes into summer, very relaxing and you must get the Chiltern walks maps available at the local bookshops or on line as they show you the footpaths, cycle routes and bridleways. we walked from Chalfont st peter to Seer Green and visited a lovely pub called the jolly cricketer, a great pit stop and only about a 3 mile round trip.

There are lots of walks in the area. We got a map from the Roald Dahl museum which gave us a great 3km option. The bluebells in the woods were magnificent and lovely farm, village and open countryside combined with wooded areas. Lovely trails, dog friendly, accessible from train stations and ample parking. Go for a wander!
