Whilst on our travels to Matlock Bath we were eager to find a spot to stop to allow our young daughter to stretch her legs and for us all to have some lunch.
We spotted the sign from the main road, however struggled to locate the turning further down.
We were worried on arrival that this was a commercial garden centre, however we were extremely pleased we stopped
and had a look around.
The garden centre is beautiful to look around and the silk flowers and home decor section is the nicest I have ever seen at a garden centre.
We popped into the tea rooms for lunch and were very impressed with the service and food.
We also visited the Swan Sanctuary, paid £3 per adult, our daughter was free.
The area was beautiful to walk around, lots of spots in the shade to take a break and plenty of birds to see.
Our daughter loved the mini adventure, this was just what we needed to break up our journey.

Despite the incredible high temperatures the staff in the cafe were friendly, efficient and welcoming. Beautifully fresh sandwiches, salad and great coffee. Simple food served superbly.

Have received sterling advice and product for the last x 8 years- this is always our first call. Quality of shrubs has been exceptional, with realistic pricing. Always enjoy a light lunch here before returning home to plant our purchases!

We've been here a few times, but today was the first time we'd been to the tea room.
The swan sanctuary (£3 each admission) is really lovely - that was our reason for going - there were lots of geese (with their adorable fluffy offspring), ducks, about half a dozen swans, a few chickens, and peacocks. The birds all obviously know that humans = food, so lots of them waddled up to greet us, eager for some seed (£1 per bag) and followed us along until we stopped feeding them - there are a lot of birds so we wanted to feed the ones further on. There are a few ponds, and the scenery is beautiful, and so peaceful. Lots of benches to sit and watch the wildlife - we even saw a Heron.
The garden centre is like any other, so we didn't look around. The tea room is very nice, the service was prompt and friendly. The decor very pleasant and very clean. One thing is strange - all those plants for sale, but yet the tea rooms has got lots of ARTIFICIAL ones. The menu was varied, and there was a good selection of cakes/desserts available. I had the Jubilee trifle, which was delicious.

I recently called at The Mower shop to purchase a replacement blade for my mower , by the time I left I had decided to buy a sit on mower !!
The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and friendly, Colin in particular was extremely helpful and explained everything about the particular sit-on I was looking at , he was fair when we negotiated price and I was happy to close a deal with him .
The mower was delivered the next weekend by Robert , who was great , explained everything in detail , showed me how to use the mower safely, and even fitted the blade I had originally called in for to my Hayter mower - absolutely first class service , all done in a friendly and professional manner with a smile , What a great team , I can’t recommend them enough.

We have visited before , the Garden Centre is well laid out and has very good quality plants but quite pricey. We called in the tea room for lunch which was disappointing- the menu is limited and rather dated , my wife has a scone which was very nice and I had a bacon and Brie panini which was bland and expensive for what it was . The coffees tasted like they had come out of a vending machine rather than produced by a barista . The service was pleasant but chaotic . There are far better offerings in the area

lovely place to visit loads of plants and garden stuff plus much more a busy cafe on site plenty of car parking spaces you must visit if in the area

Average food for restaurant prices. Very dissapointing and the service seemes chaotic.
Error with order and one dish came out a lot later than the rest. The desserts are OK but I was dissapointed with the treacle tarte and custard, both lacked any sweetness.

Although the tofu and vegetable stir fry was not available, we chose the spicy bean chilli with rice and the jacket potato with beans, dairy free spread and small side salad. The food was nicely presented and delicious, especially the chilli which was full flavoured with just the right amount of heat. It was very pleasant in the outside seating area as we enjoyed the sunshine on a beautiful day. Excellent service was provided by the pleasant and friendly waitresses, Bethany and Gill.

Good afternoon,
This morning I visited your Tea Rooms to celebrate Mothers Day with my wife, son, mother and father and I have to say I am very frustrated, disappointed and angered at the level of service we received.
My booking was for 10am under Rachel for 4 adults and 1 child. We arrived on time and the service started badly from the off! We’d only been sat down a matter of minutes when the waitress asked if we were ready to order in full - it must of been know more than two minutes after sitting down.
We ordered our food and drinks with no hassle. My fathers (a full breakfast, missing the toast) and mine (a breakfast sandwich) arrived but no sign of my sons, my wife’s or my mothers.
Are 10 minutes we asked where they were, the gentlemen had no clue and just looked panicked. 5 further minutes passed and my sons arrived but not my wife’s or mothers. I asked again where my wife’s and mothers were, further panicked followed with the waitress blaming the kitchen. Finally their food arrived after me and my father had finished, one little apology and further blame to the kitchen followed.
The waitress then took our bill off us and crossed off my sons and our drinks, THE CHEAPEST ITEMS! How poor and shambolic - obviously your proxy margin is more important then how your customers feel.
Due to us having to wait so separate timings we decided to order more drinks so the family could finish their food whilst others drank but when we asked to order further drinks the waitresses face and reaction was disgusting. It felt like we were being a pain and a nuisance due to her sigh and eye rolling.
Due to today being Mothers Day, I kept calm - went to to the till and paid. I did not want to cause a scene due to the event.
I am still absolutely furious at this matter and how poor your service was.
