this craft market was the last thing we visited upon returning to Windhoek. if you ask me it's far better to have stack of money with you and buy crafts in remote areas directly from locals there as per big crafts market, where everything is way more hustle oriented.
here you can find a diversity of stuff to buy, but also the sellers buzz around you, trying to sell you stuff to the point you get annoyed and just leave without really looking around and get something.

Lots of articles in a market full of animation. People are putting a bit pressure to visit their shop but it is part of the game. Say clearly who you will visit and that is it. We enjoyed it.

We stopped with the intention of picking up some gifts to take home, but it was impossible to look at anything or discuss possibilities without being continually harangued. At one point my wife and I were suurrounded by five or six men far too close to our personal space. We decided to leave. One seller followed us across the road continuing to try to get us to buy. I don't mind haggling, but I need to decide what I want to buy first and this was just too uncomfortable.

Very handy that all shops are next to each other. It means that you can easily compare the quality and prices before actually buying.

We experience friendly sales people, not too pushy. And by those who pushed too much we left immediately.

The Woodcarver's Market is a small affair. You wander around and watch guys sitting under the trees, chiseling huge giraffes and other large items. Only a couple of vendors were selling small wooden items, but we found a few nice and inexpensive gifts.

Right next to it, though, is a complex of 40 or more craft stalls. Much of the merchandise is similar. The shopkeepers KNOW you won't make it to all of them, so they're pretty desperate about asking you to visit THEIR shop. You have to be prepared to set limits and say no. We got some respite by saying we would tour all the shops and come back to make our purchases. But it was exhausting and we ended up breaking that promise.

As for haggling, they're wise to the usual formula of us offering half the asking price and splitting the difference. Following that practice, we ended up paying much more for lower-quality versions of what we found at the Nambia Craft Centre in Windhoek. (Although you could weigh that against the fact that these people NEED it more. They are so poor.) If you can, shop the Craft Centre first and save this for the end of your trip.

Parking is in the strip mall across the road (with the usual N$5 tip to the "guard.")

We stopped here to have look and to eat something on our way to the airport. There are a lot of things to buy if you compare it to other places where they sell local products e.g. along the road. I think these shops sell more original things, often they’re made on the spot. A big advantage here is large variety.
