Excellent day which started with an intro on spices and description of Indian and Goan cuisine in general, then a guided immersion into the actual cooking experience which made it a very good day. And a final touch as you eat what you have prepared which is great!

Rita’s cooking class was the best activity we did on our holiday in India - both Rita and her husband are knowledgable, hospitable and provide a great experience complete with amazing food. Well worth the money and a great way to spend a day in Goa!

A truly enjoyable experience, we were warmly welcomed and put at ease by our amazing hosts Rita & Mukund, we were introduced to another couple Zack and Naomi who we shared our experience with, we firstly made masala chi tea which was very enjoyable, we then went on to learn about different spices and using the right ones to compliment each other, we were then shown how to make samosa, mint chutney, aloo gobi masala, butter paneer masala, prawn masala fry and kheer and then we ate the food for our lunch and it was absolutely amazing, a true Indian meal with lovely company and would definitely recommend it, Thank you Rita & Mukund

We participated in a private cooking class with Rita & Mukund before departing from Goa. At the welcome a breakfast/tea nibbles was available and Mukund introduced us to the Masala to cook Chai tea. So we started with cooking our own Chai Masala Tea.
In a second step we met Rita and delved into the ingredients and spices for typical India food. Rita guided us through the process of cooking five wonderful dishes and explained many things while we were doing the cooking work. All ingredients that needed chopping were prepared upfront, so that we didn‘t waste any time. We got all the recepies to take home along with a small bag and the apron.
When booking Rita suggested the dishes we could cook. Due to a food allergy we had to swap one dish. This was no problem for her. She is also open for particular wishes. You can decide on the level of spicyness.
Her cooking class kitchen is a nice and very clean room with fan. As the room is airy, we didn‘t feel too hot even the outside temperature was quite warm. A clean toilet is of course also available.
It was a wonderful experience and we look forward to cook it at home. Thank you!

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at this authentic Goan cooking class. Rita was very knowledgeable and a friendly host. We would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys cooking classes to experience this wholesome experience with Rita and partner Mukund

My wife and I did a cooking class with Rita, and it was amazing! Rita is so friendly - she even customized the menu to be vegetarian and highlight Goan cuisine we'd never tried before. The cooking was so fun, and Rita explained everything very clearly. The food was delicious, and the recipes she sent us home with are super easy to follow - can't wait to try them at home!

My friend and I visited Goa for a few days and wanted a taste of traditional food traditional to Goa. Rita was friendly and super helpful in advising us on taxis and helping us to ensure we got to the train station. On the course, Rita was incredibly knowledgeable of the cuisine and history and this really enhanced the day. Recipes were provided for the meals prepared and Rita was happy to answer any questions and was kind enough to modify the menu for my friend who is a pescatarian. Really excellent day!

We absolutely loved Rita's cooking class. She is so knowledgable and wonderful to talk to . The kitchen is very clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to get a better understanding of Indian cooking. She even tailored the class for my mum who is vegan. Throughout the process Rita was great to communicate with, she answered emails promptly so the whole experience from start to finish was easy. and enjoyable. This was one of the best things we did in India.

Rita and her team greeted me very well and since I was the only guest doing the marsala and curries, I had a great experience learning about the spices and tasting the products.
If you are ever in Goa, spend some hours with Rita and her team, it will be well worth your time. Thank you Rita! I can't wait to get back to try some of the recipes on my friends and family.

Fantastic experience and loved every minute of it.
Expert knowledge and guidance throughout the day given by Rita and her team and a great introduction and lesson from Mukund in how to prepare Masala Cha and black cinnamon coffee.
This was served with a selection of cake and biscuits that started the day off perfectly. The Bebinca (Goan layer cake) was a particularly delight.
The choice of dishes were great with mix of veg, chicken and fish and the Bolo Mimosa was a great desert.
The whole team were friendly and welcoming throughout and always on hand to help if we needed it.
Sitting around the table eating the food we had cooked, talking about Goa was a great way to end the day.
Would highly recommend Rita’s Gourmet to anyone in the region as it will definitely be worth the trip.

The comprehensive cooking classes sound wonderful. However, given the sheer number of dishes taught are people able to retain enough of what they learn to cook any of the dishes at home?

Yes! Nothing is rushed and it is a full day of learning. You are taught first about the basics of spices and how and where to use them. Then applying this to the recipes leaves you feeling like it is much simpler than you thought.

My cruise ship appears to offer as a shore excursion the same "Cruise-Shore Culinary Tour" advertised on the Rita's Gourmet website, but for about $USD35 more. Is there any reason NOT to book it directly through Rita's Gourmet? Thanks very much for any advice!
