Amazing - do not miss this! Beyond worth it and looks as every pic taken no filters - beautiful picnic grounds around & high views of the ocean around! The Prime Ministers private beach & house.
can’t say strongly enough do not miss this! The ladder is on a good angle to climb up & down - nowhere near as hard as the pics look. It’s sturdy - safe - but wear reef shoes as if wet can be slippery. There are ropes to hang onto but you can swim around without too much effort.

Day tour visiting Aleipata District Waterfalls, Sun Trench and Piula Cave Pool with our driver and guide, Junior (a local with plenty of knowledge). Booked this through the Taumeasina Resort where we are staying. The waterfalls viewed from a distance. The Sua Trench experience. Scary climb down the long timber ladder to the tidal water pool, where the water is crystal clear and blue. Another highlight was to travel through a cave, using a rope guide, to a second what I can only describe as another very small sink hole. The coastline at Sua Trench area is dramatic. Travelled to Lalomanu Beach where lunch was provided by way of salad rolls, muffins and water. One can purchase a beer here. We sat in a cabana on the beach and couldn‘t resist taking a swim in the prestige clear waters. The last stop for the day was to Pilua Cave Pool, this is a freshwater pool and the water is cold. Nevertheless ventured into the waters and loved the experience. A chance to wash off the salt water and come out refreshed and tingling all over. It is quite a long leisurely day from 9.30 arriving back around 4.

Beautiful view of the beach and local environment, the sign could've been a bit bigger for the turn off but we made it. It's very clean which is great and the photo opportunities are amazing! We had young children with us but I would recommend going with older kids and people who are confident in ladder climbing and swimming in currents. Such an experience indeed!🤩

A bit over+rated. Yes it it is interesting and if you make the effort you can have a dip in the shallow tidal sea water. Caution on the wooden steps they can be very slippery and to make sure no one is headed in the opposite direction.

I looked at the ladder down and my heart was racing.
I lined up to wait my turn.
My knees shook but I did it.
A fantastic experience.
The water was warm and the views incredible.
Just go for it.

Unbelievable spot for a swim! Incredible views and really well maintained. The ladder is very sturdy and less scary than you may think. The water is nice and clear with plenty of tropical fish to view. Beware of the strong current, I would recommend staying close to the ropes if you are not a keen swimmer. A must do activity!!

Wow! What amazing place. Could spend a decent amount of time here wandering around before going down to the trench. We didn’t swim, we went down to the ladder, the walkway and ladder itself was very slippery but there are signs there advising you of instructions etc. So epic to see the trench!

I am a little afraid of heights but I looked at the ladder in pictures and thought, yes I can do that. When I got there, I nearly backed out but I was so keen to tick this off my bucket list, I found the courage to give it a go. The ladder is very sturdy, and the hardest part for me was the top (getting on and of the ladder). If you take your time and focus on grip and firm footing, you will be fine if you a little chicken like me. Once you get down, it is quite exhilarating. I found that after making it back up, I felt an amazing buzz for doing something out of my comfort zone! Give it a go!

A must do if you're visiting Samoa. Beautiful. Ladder is not as bad as it looks, take your time and go down backwards unlike some other strange people we saw with a death wish!!

How long would it take to get there from Sheraton Samoa Resort? and is this part of the fee?

Because you are near the airport I exxpect the taxi fee would be about 100 tala return. Would not be too difficult, yet enjoyable, to take a local bus and make a day of it. Much cheaper and interesting. Pick up the bus from downtown, airport or ferry terminal.
Hi and thanks for your review of this beautiful swimming hole. How did is the water?

How was the weather in November when you went? We are debating on a trip this fall in November 2018 and it lists that it is the start of the rainy season. Anyone have any input as to the weather traveling in November?

Sorry for the late reply as I have been away. November was humid and muggy. It rained a fair bit also. I think the best time to go is, Spring or Winter.
Can you jump off any of the edges are cliffs into the water?

Two options only - from the wooden deck at the bottom - even there stay left if diving head first, diving straight ahead from the ladder and you risk scraping your nose on the (loose coral & seashell) bottom. There is a small ledge to plunge just by the top of the ladder but feet first only - they will touch the bottom as you’d expect if you dive from about 9m height into just 2m of water.

What are the options and approx prices on how to get there from Aggie Greys Resort? We are trying to figure if we organise a rental car in advance. Thanks :)

There are many options but the cheapest is to approach one of the employees at your resort and ask them if they know anyone that could be your driver for the day. We did this and it cost about a quarter of what our resort was charging. Most of the staff share the same village so they know who has a van or car and would be able to take you. We paid about $40nz per person, there were five of us, for the day. The driver took us anywhere we wanted and waited for us to swim, snorkel or shop. Best day of our trip.
