Located on the other side of the rail line from Westfield Parramatta, this Cathedral is on one side of the main square. There is a nice lawn surrounding the structure and a memorial to those who served on the eastern side.

It is one of the oldest buildings in Parramatta and looks a delight form every angle. Do walk round. It advertises opening times but perhaps I was unlucky. I am sure it would be very interesting inside too!

Thank you for being open, so many are closed now and we can’t see the beauty inside. This is a small but perfectly formed beauty of a church, a must do if in Parramatta.

Reading TA reports and my experience of visiting twice yesterday the prevailing comment seems to be that the Cathedral is always closed. Walking around the outside was interesting - a building of the Colonial era.

So much better if it had been open or a contact number of how to gain access.

OK it is an active place of Christian worship but it also has an historical perspective as well. They receive support for both aspects but seem very hard to engage with on an historical but not religious basis.
I sought to see somethings inside the Church (only recently a Cathedral [1990]), and went on two occasions and found it locked with no direction as to who to contact or opening hours. Surely if they have received government funding due to their historical significance in NSW, they should be easily contactable and support non-secular activities for which they got funding.
Nothing on public display to offer instruction or historical context. A prominent site without responsibility to the non-christian community, even though they get secular funding support.
I'm peeved!

Built in 1800's it is one of the older buildings in the area. The stained glass windows are pleasant but don't match the age of the building with some as recent as the 1970's. On the small side for a Cathedral.

Another typical church, with its doors barred to the public.
A lovely facade and architecture, but that is all one can say about this church, since it is all locked and forbidding. How can only get to know the faith if such a wonderful location of a church is so unreceptive to visitors. It is right next to Parramatta train station.
Anyway, I was satisfied to get a nice picture with the building. Sadly, all exterior.

Records from this church dates back from 1789 - how amazing! It's good to see that whilst it started off for the people of the new colony hundreds of years ago, it still continues to function today as a vibrant church eager to spread the message of Jesus. A beautiful building with history right in the heart of Parramatta. Worth a visit and worth attending a service to see why the message continues on for hundreds of years!

Dragged here by my history yearning wife and found the volunteers informative and knowledgeable. Although a traditional early 19C church its historical significance cannot be undervalued.
