When in an area of such beauty, it is always great to see the force of nature and these rapids really demonstrate this fully. So pleased we tour the time to visit

Beautiful landscape, footpath (more of a dirt track) from the car park (be careful: there is a fee with payment via app) through a forest to the waterfalls. Waterfalls are beautiful, but not breathtaking...

The falls are beautiful to experience in fall when the colours are alive. Parking is $6.50 for 2 hours max and very small lot for only a handful of cars. The walk along the falls is challenging for anyone with mobility issues - lots of rocks and tree roots to climb over and mud if it's been raining. Not much view of the falls until you get to the top. The best view is from above but requires a lot of climbing around the rocks to get the view.

When visiting Algonquin make sure you plan to stop here. The waterfalls are beautiful with powerful rapids. You'll hear the water from the parking lot.
Parking for 2 hours was over $6 but access into the falls was included in the Algonquin park pass.
Wear good foot wear as the path is muddy in sections. It's also uphill a short walk but mostly rocks and tree roots.
Go to the right when you come to the fork as this will lead you to the top of the falls. There is shallow water to sit in on one side and rocks to overlook the falls on the other.

This is a short trail that leads to a set of rapids and a waterfall. Although it is not long, you do have to scramble up hills and over rocks and roots to get there. But it is worth the effort! Very scenic, especially with the fall colours. Hang onto your kids because there is lots to trip over.

The Oxtongue is a great journey and super way to spend a morning. We used a SeaDoo to navigate the river and had a great time swimming in the falls. It was a sunny day and the time spent cruising the river was awesome!

We paddled upstream from Oxtongue Lake to get to the falls. From the mouth of the river (the lake), it took about 40 mins. to paddle there (at a leisurely pace, with kids). But you really only enter the provincial park after you paddle under the bridge for 60. It was a very scenic paddle with no portages.
At the base of the waterfall, we left our canoe and kayak and climbed up the left side of the falls to the very top. At the top, when we looked across the waterfall, we could see the other people who drove to the falls, but no one else was on our side of the falls. We went a bit upstream along the top of the falls and saw a little sandy area where people had built some cool rock structures.
The climb up and down the waterfall was a bit dangerous and slippery, so I wouldn't recommend it for small kids, but it was a fun adventure for my kids aged 11 and 13.

We paid for a park pass to visit Algonquin which was also valid for the same day at this park. The walk to the falls is short but uphill and very worth it. Take the path to the right to get to the top. The kids enjoyed climbing the rocks at the top having the rapids behind them and the powerful and very large falls in front of them.

Can we see the views from our car? I have a broken leg but would love to take a scenic drive.

I don’t think so. You’d probably be better off go to Algonquin Park if you are looking for a scenic drive - it’s only 10 minutes away from this park. You’ll enjoy the view driving along highway 60.

Do you need a park pass to visit/ e.g. park @ this falls?
Skrevet 20. september 2018
is there a place to park ur canoes and kayaks while u go up the trail
Skrevet 21. juli 2015
If your canoeing from the river below the falls there is an area that you could leave your canoe, in a way pushed off aside along the shoreline, then just hike up to the top of the falls.
