We did the Tibrogargan Circuit walk which was excellent. We are in our 70’s and the walk was fairly easy for us but there are quite a few uneven steps and some fallen trees over the path. Nice bottle brush and great views of the Mount.

We stopped at the Glasshouse Mountains information centre and found the staff amazing. So knowledgeable and helpful. We spent the rest of the day exploring the NP and had a fabulous, exhausting day. We climbed Ngungun and what a thrill to reach the top.

I drove out on Boxing Day to work off some Xmas calories and get some exercise. I decided to just scale one of the twin peaks of Mt Coochin (known also as the Coochin Hills) and come back the way I started, rather than do the full loop, due to time issues. The track is uphill the whole way and requires a good level of fitness, however I was at the summit of the first peak (the Western Peak, 232m above sea level) in 20 minutes and back down in 15 minutes. There were some friendly native birds up in at the top (finch size) who were not at all shy and were happy to go about their business a metre or two away from me. At the top the views are excellent – you can see Mt Ngungun, Mt Coonowrin and Mt Beerwah (the biggest) from the top.

The hardest part is finding the track, and this is only hard if you don’t read up beforehand. I had looked online and got clear directions and chatted with a fellow hiker at the bottom to clarify. The way to get there is to put 2672 Old Gympie Road into the GPS and pull into this property, head right and park near the National Park sign where there is a metal gate. Start the walk and veer left at the first fork and then turn right at the next fork up the Western Peak (this is critical as it would be easier to keep going and neglect to turn). All in all, this was a beautiful walk, and not busy at all, meaning you can be alone with nature.

We dropped into the Glasshouse National Park at Mt Tibrogargan.
Unfortunately it was getting late in the afternoon and we needed to get back to Brisbane. But the park looked lovely and had some great walks. So we have added it to our bucket list when next we head up to the area.

This is not for the faint of heart, this is a serious mountain climb, the first 600m rock wall is very steep and dangerous and you will require some good foot wear. There is a cheat track to climb it move easily by starting from the far left off the path and then once you hit the middle you hug the far right inside the trees.

Please take extreme caution when making this climb, this mountain is not to be taken lightly and has serious potential for injury or worse. The views from the top make the climb worth it though

The Mount Tibrogargan circuit Walk is not very difficult and most enjoyable . Takes one and a half hours and easy pathway, with easily marked steps. Great views. Watch out for monitor lizards along the way.

Wonderful relaxing walk around the Mount Tibrogargan circuit track. Takes one and a half hours on an easily negotiated pathway . Some steps clearly identified with gradual slopes. Fantastic views and even a few well positioned informative signs and seating to enjoy the scenery. Watch out for monitor lizards!

Drove from the Bruce Highway up to the Glass House Mountain Lookout along route 24, following the brown signs.

There is a great deal of forest either side of the Tourist Drive Scenic route but we found plenty of places to stop and take the required tourist photos of the mountains.

Parking by the tracks leading up to the mountain walks/climbs is fairly limited. A lot of people more physically able, park and walk the tracks leaving the cars parked for several hours.

Not many places on the route to stop for drinks etc once you leave the town area of Glass House Mountains itself.

Well worth the drive for the views of the mountains, especially the GHM Lookout.

If you are in Sunshine Coast region, you can make a detour by getting off the Bruce highway and experience a not-so-exciting experience exploring the national park by your own car or walking in the woods. Green landscape and lush vegetation. At the outskirts of the park there are some small villages. Arriving at the lookout you have a nice panoramic view of the mountains and the whole national park. Ι would prefer to go back again to Daintree National Park, to Fraser Island or to Gold Coast. A healthy walk in the woods is not a waste of time anyway.

We just went to the lookout after going to Australia Zoo for the day and it was beautiful just don’t recommend going on a cloudy day and you don’t get the whole potential of the view.
