I don't know if it was New Year's Eve, or always, but the crowd was so big that I couldn't buy anything or eat or drink anything. However, I fully enjoyed the atmosphere of the night market.

Despite rebuilding that makes the market only half as big, you can not miss the opportunity to go here and have dinner.
Cramped, warm and wonderful atmosphere and pulse. Lots of different food options both big and small, meat and sweet at a cheap price.
Will definitely return!

This was my second visit to Taipei, as I had been there before. Despite the coronavirus outbreak in between, the liveliness of the event had not changed at all. It's not really huge in terms of scale, but it's like a condensed list of high-quality stalls, and I personally find it quite a hot spot.

It was under construction and was open on a reduced scale only towards the sidewalk on the right side of the road.
If you are going to enjoy the night market in Taipei, beware.
By the way, in the ANA in-flight video Matsuko didn't know about, I was doing "Feel Showa! The World of Taiwan Night Market."

WHAT:
Ningxia is kind of the opposite of what Shilin night market is:
Shilin is sprawling - plenty to shop, eat and a few streets for you to explore VERSUS
Ningxia is small - food section was only about 50 metres - but packed with goodies!
The other end with less food stores has plenty of street carnival-type games for the little ones to score some silly plushies. Pokemon's all the rage this season! Both sides of the night market are short buildings with local brick-and-mortar food food stores and local supermarkets - so we got the feeling that this market was a lot more convenient to get almost everything (including souvenirs) without walking a lot.
WHEN:
Visit in the two or three weeks just before Lunar New Year - the market is bustling with action as plenty of locals also visit this market to get their Chinese New Year stuff. Plus it is chilly and wintery... perfect for every bite of the piping hot street snacks you're gonna get!
HOW:
It looked like chaos and almost every store's got a long queue - but calm down and you'll be thankful that they've all got a queue system - you just gotta order at a store, get a queue number and move on to order at the next store without getting stuck waiting for your food at one store. So within half an hour, we managed to get:
- peanut chewy mochi dumplings (with warm sesame oozing)
- tentacles tempura (boy they were JUICY)
- traditional umami starchy corn (REALLY good)
- crunchy crepes with fresh fruits
Finally ended at HuanJi Sesame Oil Chicken the brick-and-mortar store which we had to queue 10 minutes to enter but it was worth it - for that sesame oil-laden hot soup which simply hits the spot, tender chicken and slurping down the slippery mee sua... yums.
Also, say hello to the resident pet piggy. His owner struts it around the market a lot!

The place is great. It's relatively small and easy to traverse. Wish there was more space between the carts, but the crowdedness is part of the experience.
Not a lot of games for kids, but food here is great. Highly recommend the juices.

While one of the most representative elements that comes first to mind in Taiwan is the city of Taipei, it is difficult to deny that relatively famous (mostly convenient for traffic) places in Taipei are rarely commercial and are not so popular. As the name suggests, it uses the southern half of Ninjaro as a night market, while using the road's central section as a food supply. It's a bit uncomfortable in traffic than the places that already have a big name, but there's still a variety of food, excessive commerciality is also invisible and it's a good place for dinner.

If you want some local street food, drop by Ningxia night market. They open at around 5 pm. There's a section with lots of tiny pinball machines for kids and adults. Lots of stalls sell all kinds of boiled and fried munchies. If you haven't tried stinky tofu, it's worth exploring the taste (slight putrid smell but really tasty). It's not a large market but there are restaurants in the area if the street food doesn't fill you up.

How wonderful this experience is. Street food with its simplicity and sophistication at the same time. Great and authentic characters all over the place. Went to the famous Michelin winner (oyster’s omelette) and the #60 shredded chicken with rice

Are there Halal or Vegetarian restaurants near Ningxia Night Market?
Skrevet 9. september 2019
I believe sea food is halal. If so there were many sea food palaces in this area. I did not specifically see halal boards anywhere around.
