Here is the scoop. Some of these reviews are quite old, so I wanted to offer an update on the entrance fee and the parking, etc.
There is a parking lot, which you can pull into, but then they have everything roped off so that you cannot access the cave from the parking lot without first being funneled into a ticketing area. The ticketing man has a big brochure with lots of photos, and he is charging $10 a person, not $10 a car, to go visit the cave and the arches. I don’t know if you would be able to access it in the evening (note that they close at 5 PM) and perhaps park your car somewhere and then climb under a rope, without paying the fee, but during the day you absolutely have to pay this fee. There is also a way to access the cave if you walk up from the beach. But if you are parking in the parking lot right next to the cave, you pay $10 per person.
On another forum, they mentioned that there were a lot of break-ins lately in some of the cars near the beach, so it may be worth it to park in the lot which is monitored and pay the $10 cash each to access the caves and arches.

I will note that the man who was handing out the brochures and taking the ticket money spent about 20 minutes telling the couple before before us all about the cave, and then when we asked him the same information, he just gave us one sentence and told us to watch out for holes. So don’t know what was happening there. Perhaps he was just tired of giving out info!

The cave itself is wonderful. Some other outdated information notes that there is a ladder that you can use to access the interior of the cave, but that is no longer in place. In order to access the interior of the cave, you need to crawl through a very narrow passageway; those who are claustrophobic would not be able to do so! And then go down into the cave. We saw a few folks doing it, but most people did not. It is delightful to climb around on top of the cave and all around the cave. Some people talked about swimming in the cave and looking at the drawings in the cave, but if the only way to access it now is through that small crack in the wall, it’s going to be difficult for most people.

Our “ticket-guy” told us that he preferred the arches to the cave, and in some ways he is correct as the view is quite dramatic (It’s actually quite dramatic everywhere in this area, the views are just really beautiful). But in terms of drama, the arches are a little more impressive. To access the arches, you need to walk on a path through some bushes. It’s a bit hard to find, but if there are other people there, you can hear them on the other side. There are only so many small little footpaths, so if you turn down the wrong one, simply turn around and try another one. It’s not like it’s a massive maze with lots of little footpaths. You will find the arches if you keep looking.

Safety note: when you are visiting the Cave, look out for big holes. These are large enough to fall through and could be very dangerous!

Overall, a great stop on our journey from the east to the west, that allowed for some dramatic photographs.

If you have been to caves and ancient dwellings this would be a disappointment. The cave, the beach and the road are all public places. Someone has bought or is a squatter and created a parking lot with a small tent guarding an entrance to the cave. He speaks English and Spanish and charges $40 per person. He won’t let you park and use the free entrance to the cave either. Don’t pay. It’s not worth it. Park along the road and walk to the cave from any trail entrance but his for free. There’s a cool free natural swimming hole for toddlers and young children you can park at and hike to the caves. It’s about a 2 mile hike on volcanic rock, but you will see all 7 natural arches as you hike to the Indian cave. There’s also a lot of tide pools you will pass. You will have even better views than you will at the Indian cave. The Indian cave has been graffitied with other carvings so it’s hard to find the original carvings.

This place is amazing. The view is espectacular. Can be dangerous walking on the sharp rocks and possibility that you can fall of the side.
The biggest SCAM is charging $10 PER PERSON to get in but if you get hurt they are not responsible. The money spent is just for you to walk on their land. Instead of parking at their lot, go down maybe 100 yards, park for free and walk to the beach and caves for free. They will tell you that there is no access but it’s not true!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY….ITS A SCAM!
The problem also is that they charge you TAX like if they were reporting it to the government……won’t doubt if the mayor of the town is getting a kick back because this has come out in the newspapers and no one has done anything!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH PEOPLE!!!!! Let’s stop this corruption
DONT SUPPORT GHIZ PLACE UNLESS YOU GO IN BY THD BEACH…….FOR FREE.

Do not go alone. Go when there are more people. Typically between 10-4pm. Plan Atleast 3-4 hours for the entire experience be including the cave and the beach.

ZERO stars for the man working the ‘door’/ ticket guy/ info booth, 4 starts for the place.

It is now $10 to enter per person and the guy at the front can give you information on how to get to the spots in English or in Spanish. He seemed very nice. This is not for people that have any kind of walking problems or young children. It is very steep with no shade, and all on the craggy volcanic rock . Even though we listen to the speech we did not find the tide pool so we had to go back to the front and he re-explained. So in all we probably walked for at least an hour and a half in the hot sun. You can see the glitch from the top of the Cave, I’m impressed by them for whatever reason – but it was still cool for most of my friends from up there of the water and the arches is really amazing.

We couldn’t find the tide pools or the other area so we asked at the front and he explained how to get there. After about another 25 minutes Over the ridge we found the other area which was very cool and beautiful. Luckily, we found a shortcut back to the road so we didn’t have to traverse over the whole area again.

The problem rose when we got back to the parking lot and we needed to re-enter the area because our friend had waited under
The trees (she has bad knees). He would not let us re-enter. He said he saw a circling the parking lot. We showed him our tickets. He still said no. We said our friend is sitting inside. We just came an hour and a half ago. He said, “how can I be expected to remember everyone” to which I said “ you can’t, that is why you gave us tickets and we are showing them to you.” He said that people constantly try to pass each other tickets to get in for free. I said just because somebody at some point has done that does not mean you should judge everybody on that. We are 50-year-old people from the mainland, I don’t think we’re the likely candidates to try a scam for $10, he was adamant we not go back in and made us feel really badly about the whole thing, even though we did nothing wrong.

This is a national park not a high stakes security area really ridiculous to get so sty and bossy about something. It ruined the whole day for a friend of mine.

It should also be noted that you need to be at least medium physical fitness to do this. Not too old, not with flip-flops, not young kids. We saw somebody with a stroller – there’s literally nothing you can do with a stroller everything is on the craggy rocks.

the trees.

My wife and I visited on a Monday, parking along the road near the 7.6 mile marker. A few hundred feet east was a stairway down to the beach, marked with a sign. We made our way east along the beach (1/4 mile?) to the rock mound. The climb up might be challenging for some. Once on top be aware of unmarked holes that drop into the cave below. A quarry created by the Spanish makes for a natural ampitheater with views, and at the corner of the quarry is the entrance to the cave. A local, Daniel, offered to guide me and took me through the slot pathway and showed me handholds and footholds that I may have missed in the dim light. Daniel was an excellent guide, showing a variety of petroglyphs and natural features of this ancient religious site. The highlight of our trip to PR for me.

Regardless of what you may read online there is only parking available onsite. The roadside is one lane in each direction with no shoulder. This place closes on the dot so plan accordingly and allot at least an hour to see it. The view is excellent and totally worth it. Restrooms located on site.

My wife and I hiked the arches and cave from the public beach access. It's labeled but easy to miss since it's very small with a small area to park a few cars across the street. Google directions take you past the point and closer to the paid private parking lot which features painted fences in a large painted sign. If you see these you have gone too far. Turn around and look for the small access point a few houses down.
From the beach you will have to hike up the cliffs near the water to see the arches and eventually the cave.
We went on the rainiest day on record so we weren't able to go down into the cave since climbing surfaces were slick and the waves were crashing into the cave making it possibly unsafe. But it looks possible with some climbing skills and dry surfaces. Still we were able to see the petroglyphs from the entrance of the cave and we had a lot of fun watching the waves crash against the rocks. There are also some holes that spew air and water when the waves crash. Overall a pretty cool place to visit.
