The trekking tour was truly amazing. We visited Thailand during the rainy season, so the tropical forest and rice fields were very beautiful and bright green. During the tour we saw several bamboo forests, a big waterfall, and lots of hill tribe villages.
The tour guide was hilarious and super friendly. He truly knew his way around the forest. During the trip, he showed us various plants and explained their use, which was very informative and interesting.
The bamboo cooking was also great. We were able to help prepare the ingredients (not required) and watch the whole cooking process from up close. The bamboo cooking itself occured in the forest, although, there was a roof and a water source. Additionally, the guide made bamboo chopsticks and bamboo cups for each of us, which we could keep as a souvenir.
It's important to note, the first trekking part of the tour was demanding - especially with the heat, humidity, and uneven ground. We had an older couple in our group and they struggled a lot. If you want to book this tour but are not confident in your stamina and physical capabilities, there is an easy solution: you can skip the first trekking part, travel by car to the bamboo cooking, and continue trekking with the group for the second part of the tour (includes the waterfall). The second trekking part is not as demanding as the first, yet also beautiful.
The whole trekking tour was a great experience. I would definitely recommend this, if you want to see the true nature of Northern Thailand.
