I spent a lovely 3 hours with Masako, she is a great person having a lot of knowledge about cooking in traditional way. At the end of the classes my husband and 5month old son joined us, it was not a problem at all to Masako. It was a pleasure and I highly recommend this cooking classes to everyone!

My wife and I have just spent the day having. The pleasure of a cooking class with the lovely and talented Masako

We were greeted at the station by Masako and taken to her lovely home with another couple. We started by making Japanese omelette which was incredible and fascinating to make. Not to mention delicious!

We followed this by making udon dough. While the Udon rested we made tempura vegetables and prawns and again a delicious and fun meal.

Finally we made the udon broth with kelp and bonito and got to enjoy and savour every last bit. Masako even gave us a glass of her homemade plum sake to enjoy with our meal.

The whole class was an absolute joy and Masako was a wonderful host and very patient (even with my less than perfect chopstick skills) the whole day was a true joy it has been one of the highlights of our trip to Japan and I would recommend this to anyone who has the chance.

Thank you Masako for your gracious hospitality and welcoming us to your home

My family and I have just finished our day of cooking class with master instructor Masako Uchiyama. She is a lovely woman who welcomed us to her small but comfortable studio in the neighborhood known as Sumida, Tokyo.

We created our own Udon noodles, japanese omelettes (tamagoyaki), fish broth (dashi) ......and all sorts of Tempura.

This woman is lovely and friendly and a very good teacher. We would be happy to have her come to our home and show us how to do more someday when she returns to America. Her English was very good, but she also works with Germans and people from all over the world who want to come to Japan to learn true Japanese food culture.

We are two French guys and we had such an amazing time with Masako. Love the experience. We cooked delicious tempura dashi, udon and Japanese omelette. Great genuine flavors.

I always want to attend a cooking class in a Japan local residence so that not only I can learn how to make Japanese dishes but also I can learn the Japanese culture. Thank you Masako in making my dream comes true! I was very happy in meeting Masako. She provided great hospitality and made me feel like home. I enjoyed doing hands-on udon and tempura making, especially the traditional way in making udon! I also enjoyed sitting down and eating our finished products together. A great sharing time, just like having a gathering in a friend’s home! This is truly an enjoyable and memorable experience! I highly recommend this cooking class to anyone visiting Tokyo!

My sister and I visited Masako and her assistants on a cool spring day in March.
After we arrived at Masako's studio, started by teaching us to prepare dashi, discussing the key ingredients and the options for preparation.
Next we made Tempura from scratch, starting with wheat flour and water. It was a hands on class with all the students taking turns working the ingredients and cooking the dishes. We prepared pumpkin, green peppers, fishcake, burdock, and carrot.Masako took us through a traditional preparation method for Udon noodles, paring the, mixing the noodle dough, letting it rest and kneeding it, before cutting and boiling the noodles.
In between the steps, while the noodles were resting, we made Tamago (omelette).
When the noodles were cooked, we split the noodles into two batches, one for a cold udon noodle dish to be served with dashi, and one for a hot udon dish.
After all the cooking, we sat down to feast upon the tempura, tamago and udon dishes we prepared.
Masako also did a brief matcha tea demonstration.
To conclude the day, Masako demonstated japanese caligraphy by writing our names in japanese characters.
This was a fun afternoon, and a great learning experience.
Masako is a warm and cheerful teacher, and her assistants are helpful and charming.

I love to explore different culture by taking cooking class when I travel. I love udon and always want to learn to make it myself. Udon is actually fun to make and with Masako's help you can master udon making skill in no time. She is very informative and fun to cook with. I am so glad I took the class and I would highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Tokyo!!

This cooking class was one of our highlights of our trip to Japan because it went beyond cooking. We found a new friend in Masako!

First of all, communication with Masako was flawless and pickup at the metro station well organized. The location is near the tourist area Asakusa and Sky Tower, so you can combine this cooking experience with sightseeing.

Masako is a great teacher and we made some delicious Udon noodles and Tempura. But it is much more then just a cooking class since Masako is very interested on a personal level.

Gak rugi deh jauh2 ke Osaka belajar bikin Udon. Asyik sekali dan unik sekali cara membuatnya. Ingin belajar? Penasaran? Silahkan kunjungi kelas ini. Gurunya sabar, baik, penuh perhatian, berbahasa inggris lancar,, dan sangat artistik. Terima Kasih Msako!

For anyone who wants to learn making Udon, this is the place to go. The class is very relaxing, friendly, and homey. Not only that, we also learned a great deal about the Japanese culture and other things too. Thank you very much for the wonderful experience, Msako!

Merci beaucoup pour ce cours de cuisine japonaise. Non seulement le cours était extrêmement intéressant avec un véritable chef, mais en plus quel accueil, sourires à profusion. Masako est venue nous chercher à la gare. Nous avons été merveilleuse reçu avec en cadeau nos noms en calligraphie japonaise et cours d'Origami à la fin du repas. Merci infiniment pour cette chaleureuse hospitalité. 🙏🏻🍜😊
