Osu Kannon is a temple that can be said to be a symbol of downtown Nagoya's Osu arcade district and can be reached in two minutes on foot from Osu Kannon Station on the Tsurumai Subway Line.
The main hall is located at the top of the stairs in the precinct, and the goshuin is accepted at the temple office down the stairs at the back of the main hall for 300 yen each, and if there is no queue, you can have it listed immediately.
There are also several temples scattered around Osu Arcade Street, and you can easily visit Goshuin.

This is a Shingon Buddhist temple that houses one of the three great Kannon statues. The town in front of the temple is very common and has an atmosphere that somewhat overlaps with Asakusa. The abundance of pigeons gives the temple a Showa-era feel, making it a nostalgic place.

Easily assessible by train and next/near Osu shopping streets. We made a prayer, bought amulets, took some photos and off to Osu shopping street in less than 30 minutes, I think.

We were lucky and visited the temple at the start of the cherry blossom season. It made for lovely photos. The grounds were peaceful and serene. You can burn sage/incense, pray and have blessings done. There is a fun little shopping center located next door.

The temple is located in Osu, one of Nagoya's most popular shopping districts. The temple is located on the west side of the Osu district and at the edge of the shopping arcade, so the bustle of the shopping arcade does not echo so much in the temple precincts. Even so, many visitors to the shopping district stop by the temple as worshippers. The mundane atmosphere and the solemn vermilion of the buildings on the temple precincts blend together, but there is no sense of dissonance; in fact, the temple has been deeply loved by the common people for a long time.
The temple precincts are not that large, and it does not take more than 30 minutes to simply walk around the temple. Since many visitors come to the temple both on weekdays and holidays, you may never find the temple precincts quiet and deserted, even if there are no festivals. While the temple has become a tourist attraction, it's also home to many cultural assets, almost all of which are not open to the public, so visitors should not expect anything special from this temple (except for festivals). It would be better to visit the temple quietly, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to worship here.
Since the only access to the main hall is by stairs, there is also a place on the first floor of the main building for those with disabilities, such as wheelchairs, to worship.

This Shingon Buddhist temple is said to be one of the Three Great Kannon Temples, and since if you come by subway you end up entering the temple grounds from the west gate, we decided to enter through the vermilion Niomon Gate instead. After climbing the stairs, a large lantern hangs from the eaves of the main hall. By the way, cultural assets such as national treasures are not buildings but books stored in library collections. Nearby are the covered arcades Osu Kannon-dori and Niomon-dori, lined with many restaurants and general stores, and further ahead are the similar arcades Banshoji-dori and Higashi Niomon-dori, perfect for a stroll after visiting the temple.

This is a nice and big temple dedicated to Guanyin within the busy and bustling Osu shopping street! If you are in the area, you will not miss this place.
The temple is nice and is opened to the public and visitors can walk freely around. And what is interesting is that people will just buy the bread/biscuit crumps to feel the birds (pigeons I supposed) that are resting on the roof. They would then fly down in a swarm to eat and then fly up and flock together circling in the air for a while before taking rests at the rooftop.
Entering the premise can let one to have some peace of mind from the noises outside, especially from the road and shopping street. For us, its consider cultural visit since we are not into the religion but find the temple building nice, filled with ancient feeling!

It's a very impressive temple and there are lots of pigeons.
A large lantern hangs in front of the main hall, but it's protected so that only the bottom half is visible from the front.
A bustling temple with many visitors.

This temple is squeezed into other buildings and next to Osu Shopping District. The grounds are rather small and there are lots of pigeons. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Located at osukannon station & just right beside osu shopping street! Glad & surprise to see cherry blossom still in bloom in the temple as cherry blossom started earlier this year. Good to drop by before osu shopping!
