Very NOT a hands on cooking experience. Too much of the ingredients are pre made, or finished off by Terri when you are out of the kitchen at the table. There were 11 people doing the Spanish course of 10 dishes. The sum total of my participation was chopping 1 fennel bulb and cutting 12 small disks of store bought puff pastry. The rest of the time standing about with arms folded listening to Terri talk about herself. And watching her cook. We were all adults with years of cooking experience who are safe around an oven or cooktop. But not one of us was asked to do anything involving heat.
Really not what I'd hoped for as I have done many cooking courses around the world where every person makes an individual portion of everything, thereby learning and practicing a new skill.

I did the one day Moroccan School. We arrived at 9.45am starting with tea/ coffee and then at about 9.45 we moved into kitchen to begin cooking. Do not expect your own benches and preparing the whole item yourself. We were a group of 10 and the jobs such as chopping food, stirring, whipping etc were shared between us. We were given lots of general cooking tips during the time. We finished the preparing at around 12.30pm and then took our seats around a dining table and food was brought to us as it was cooked. Being Moroccan it was fairly quick and by 1.45 we were finished. The kitchen was modern and very clean.

It was a great experience. Enjoyed immensely. The preparing a cooking was very simple to follow. The people involved were friendly and made the whole experience perfect. The food was fantastic. The idea of helping with the cooking and then being able to eat the food was great.

Having experienced this wonderful cooking school a few years ago, we retuned to do the French cooking class - and we were not disappointed. Terri is a welcoming and gracious hostess and a fabulous chef. She imparts her comprehensive knowledge of cooking in a fun and inclusive way. The dishes were delectable enough to lick the plate! Lunch was served on the enclosed veranda with the stunning views as a backdrop. It was just such an enjoyable day which we would highly recommend to others.

The experience was absolutely enjoyable. The place was warm and inviting. The view, the gardens, the house and kitchen was amazing. There was a lovely morning tea waiting for us when we arrived. We were then invited into the kitchen to cook. The menu chosen was Italian using local produce from the mountain. We were given recipes of everything we cooked. I learnt lots of techniques while preparing the various dishes. After helping prepare the lunch I enjoyed the company eating the food. A camera and comfortable shoes is advisable. Thank you Terri.

We absolutely loved our experience with Terri at Tamborine Cooking School this week! The menu was delicious, using local produce from the mountain we learnt to put together an elegant range of delicious meals. The handy hints that Terri passes on throughout the class were my favourite take away - from hints on cooking the sweet potatoes, garlic and beetroot in their skins, storing seasonal produce, to the traditional way of making white (bechamel) sauce. It was a relaxed atmosphere and very enjoyable - we were so inspired that we cooked two of the dishes again for dinner that night!

It is easy to forget simple techniques in the kitchen from selecting fresh vegetables to plating food.
Terri coaches and guides all participants in the kitchen to make great food - today I learnt how to make 'souffle' - all these years I have heard this is the most temperamental dish to make - Terri and guests proved this to be a myth. I now have the confidence to try this dish at home.
A great way to spend a few hours helping to make lunch using local food from the region,and enjoy everyones company whilst eating what we made with a glass of wine.

Thank you, Terri for a delicious, enjoyable and successful Australia's Biggest Morning Tea. We were fortunate to be invited to this novel, well organised event at Tamborine Cooking School. Everyone joined in to prepare an amazing High Tea for the 30+ guests. The rooms were full of chatter, laughter and the smell of tempting savouries and sweet treats. Hot scones with rhubarb jam & cream, Yum!

Im sorry to say I found the italian cooking class to be very disappointing. Chicken cacciatore and tirramissu I can honestly say were quite boring. The school is very professional and well set up in a lovely venue but really didnt learn anything new or clever as far as cooking is concerned - my mother taught me chicken cacciatore with tomato sauce in a jar in the 70's! I think the course really underestimated peoples abilities and desire to learn a more sophisticated style of cooking. The food really was very boring and honestly my 11year old made a more tasty tiramisu. There was also the obvious concentration of not disclosing the full recipe - I wouldn't bother to pass any of the recipes on as they aren't worth it so the energy spent in concealing all the recipes usual ingredients was a waste of time and ravioli made with chinese wonton wrappers ? Not OK in a paid for italian cooking class. Also leave fun, warmth, normal human interaction and a sense of humour behind.

A great way to catch up with friends, meet people & learn new things . Terri created a relaxed friendly atmosphere whilst guiding us through the creation of an Asian influenced lunch, all the while promoting advantages of local produce & outlets. Topped off by wonderful views while eating meal at the end.
