Well, I wouldn't know what it's like to walk around Jordan Pond because we never did get a parking space. We went mid morning on a mid September weekday and the parking lots (one for the restaurant and one for the Pond) were like your local mall parking lot at Christmas. So if you go to Acadia and have your heart set on walking the pond, I would say go very early or very late, maybe you'll do better than we did....

Stay the f away. This place is the antitheses of nature. The lot was packed and people arguing over spaces. We left after wasting time waiting in line.

Looking out from the Jordan Pond Restaurant, there are two ways to go. Going “right” is the easy part of this trail. Going left is a harder part due to the boulders which I would like to forget. Read on to see why.
Going right is easy, flat and has many vistas of the pond—more like a lake. You will not be the only ones on this trail though. We did see one Park Ranger who made her rounds around the lake.
The path is 3.1 miles long around the deepest and 2nd largest lake in the park. One can kayak and canoe on the pond, but no swimming allowed as Jordan Pond is a watershed for surrounding communities.
As you round the bend on the other side, the boulders will start increasing. It is on one of those “flat” boulders that my wife began to wobble. I caught her just in time before falling over towards the water—where there are more boulders.
As she was moving forwards, I stepped on the same boulder where she just wobbled from. I did not wobble. I just fell towards the lake.
Luckily, a number of hikers had bandages and wipes to help me. I fell right between a crevice of boulders. I was definitely bleeding.
Maybe it is from my college football days, I did not suffer any broken bones. My ego was shattered though—completely. How did I fall?
My wife insisted that we go back on the “easy” side of the pond. I had escaped a major tragedy. There is no cell service that far out.
We toasted with a beer at Jordan Pond restaurant (a review posted for that too) and had a delicious popover with strawberry jam and butter.
If you found this review to be helpful in any way, please press “Thumbs-up” to let me know.

There is a kind of boardwalk hike around the lake. It has beautiful views and if you go the whole hike it's about 3 miles. You would be amazed at this walk.

The pond is very scenic, with The Bubbles hills rising over the end. We started the pond trail on the left side, and soon came up the boards. I thought they would be for a short stretch but they go on and on and on, with constant decisions about which direction will reach the next bypass area first. We managed but it's not for everyone. After 35 minutes we turned around and came back.

A walk around Jordan Pond is like a walk down a crowded New York City street. There is a narrow boardwalk (to protect the moss growing along the trail) and you are constantly stepping aside to allow people to pass and if you stop to try to look at anything people are literally breathing down your neck. Skip this one and try the Hunters Beach trail. It is a less traveled path and you wind up at the most breathtaking rocky beach you’ll see in Acadia.

This is a beautiful, pristine lake to hike around. It took us 2 hours at a leisurely pace. There are some sections of boardwalk type trail, flatter trail, and some rock scrambling. (A short section) Bathrooms at the start and the pond house if you want to get a bite to eat. Come early to get a parking spot and avoid the crowds!!

Jordan Pond is a very pretty pond with a 3.2 mile loop. We had done the Beehive & Cadillac so this was very relaxed in comparison. Most people could do this easily, but be aware there are some parts that require walking over rocky parts and dealing with uneven footing. We saw frogs, tadpoles, fish, ducks, birds and a tree eaten by a beaver. The trail was a little crowded with babies and dogs and larger groups, but we went in the middle of the day. You might want to aim for early or late. Beautiful! Enjoy!

Beautiful! Such a gorgeous place and not challenging to walk. I would suggest wearing some bug spray as it can be a little buggy in some spots near the water. There is parking near the trail if you are driving the Acadia Park Loop.

We came across this pond almost by accident while we were driving around the loop, and had to stop to admire the breathtaking beauty of this place. We were lucky enough to be here on a sunny day, so the clear blue lake mirrored the sky beautifully. There are a bunch of trails that connect to/around the pond, to varying degrees of difficulty. We went on one of the hikes around the lake; while we turned around halfway through, we thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility of the trail.

Planning a visit soon. How long does it take walking the Jordan Path? Trying to coordinate hiking the path and eating at the Jordan Pond House.

We didn't hike around the entire lake. I think the path is about 3 miles (you should check that). If so, you could probably do this in roughly an hour. The 1/4 to 1/3 of it that we hiked was quite flat. Hopefully someone else who did hike the whole loop can provide you with a better answer, but that's what I can offer.

Can you push a stroller or wagon on the full trail around Jordan Pond?
Skrevet 29. mars 2019
No you cannot. You can walk about halfway around if you go to the right. But there is a small wood bridge that you cross, and at that point, things get hairy. We did not anticipate how difficult the path became. We climbed out on rock ledges and did alot of walking on two boards nailed side by side. It isn't particularly "difficult." It's only difficult if you anticipated an easy stroll.

where is the Trail head to Jordan Pond - the easier way
Skrevet 29. august 2017
Without having the map in front of me the easier portion of the trail starts off to the , if you are looking at the pond from the restaurant, to the left of the restaurant. As you wrap around the other side is where the trail gets rockier. Hope this helps!

I wanted to ask about Jordan Pond. Did you see any birds there? I am wanting to see LOONS & sometimes they might have babies by now. Did you see any birds? Also some one said something about "Black Flies" -- what are those? Biting flies? Should I spray on bug spray? Thank you.
Skrevet 8. juni 2017
I am not a bird watcher so I don't know about loons. I had no problem with flies. I was there before Memorial Day. I've heard they are closer to the coastline and in the summer along the coastline.

Do I need a reservation for tea at Jordon House? What is the time and price?
Skrevet 18. juli 2016
I would call about reservations. It almost felt like a club atmosphere and the prices were more than what I would normally pay. A cup of seafood chowder was $11.50.
