Moderate hike, slightly uphill , path is mixed with dirt , tree roots and rocks. If was foggy today when we hiked so didn’t have a great view…but rock was massive. Got there at 8:15 and parking lot was half full but when we left cars were waiting for spots.

We hiked the South Bubble. Started off at Jordan Pond House and walked the trail along the pond to the entrance of the trail head. The whole hike took about 2 hrs. I’d like to say it was an easy hike but for some I would say it would be moderate, the last 80-90% of the hike is rock climbing and one area has a tight, steep squeeze between two rocks which you had to ascend/descend. It can take a minute or two to safely navigate so it can get backed up in that area. Lovely view at the top. We brought some snacks and enjoyed the view before starting our descent.

The approximately 1.8 mile long (and easy to walk) hiking trail leads from the parking lot to the North and South Bubble (with phenomenal views over the park) and, of course, to the eponymous Bubble Rock.

Did the hike to Bubble Rock. The trail for the North Bubble provided the best views but it was worth it to check out Bubble rock. Hike is pretty quick - it is a little steep and some rock scrambling but not too difficult.

Bubble Rock is a long journey to the top, but well worth it. Put your hiking boots on and be prepared to hike for a bit as you traverse through large rocks and flagstone. As you peruse to the top, you will see this very large rock at the top of the mountain.

If you’re looking for an incredible (but lesser-known) trail, consider hiking to Bubble Rocks. This trail goes to two separate viewpoints called South Bubble and North Bubble that overlook Jordan Pond from up top.
In addition to being a wonderful viewpoint, South Bubble also has a famous tourist attraction: Bubble Rock (aka. Balanced Rock). a large boulder that was carried by glaciers (yes! you read it right) and deposited at the seemingly precarious edge of a cliff. it is considered to be the best-known boulder in the entire state of Maine
The hike from the Bubbles parking lot to Bubble Rock is a short family-friendly adventure. Bubble Rock and the 768-foot peak of South Bubble can be reached via the Bubbles Divide Trail and Bubbles Trail. The Bubbles trailhead and the parking lot are located on Park Loop Road, just over a mile south of Bubble Pond and about 1.5 miles north of Jordan Pond House.
Just beyond the side trail to Bubble Rock, are wonderful views of Jordan Pond, Pemetic Mountain, Penobscot Mountain, as well as the ocean off Seal Harbor.

This is an easy hike to one of the iconic spots - there are no ledges if you take the trial from the bubbles parking lot. The trial takes to right next to the rock. The parking lot is small , we went mid afternoon and had a spot after 2 min wait . In summary very nice hike to iconic spot for the whole family.

We did miss the actual bubble rock and had to retrace footsteps, follow the blue paint marks, gorgeous views of the valley and Jordan Pond

My husband and I hiked to all the “Bubbles”today in the afternoon. For the umpteenth time… we never get tired of the sweeping vistas from the summits.
We were very lucky finding a parking spot at the Bubble Rock parking without any delays - don’t count on such luck in high season.
The rocks are wet in some spots, so needless to mention that hiking shoes with good traction is a must. The trails were a bit muddy after a heavy rainfall the day before but we were exceptionally lucky with the weather. It was quite windy on the summits but we loved it!
Keep in mind that the North Bubble trail is more difficult than the South Bubble one: it is steeper and there are some tricky places to tackle .

This is a cool thing to see. It’s NOT easy to get a parking spot in the area. I would go early in the day or late in the afternoon.

Can you do the Bubble Rock trail to see the boulder without the Fat Man squeeze and having to hoist yourself up in that one area I read about??

give the meaning of the words clumsy, gravely, billows, object in the poem 'the rock and the bubble'.

Hi! How much time should we plan for this hike?
Skrevet 27. mai 2018
If you are only hiking one bubble, I would plan on at least one hour. You will want to linger at the top as the views of Jordan Pond are magnificent. If you are hiking both bubbles, plan on an hour and a half. It is well worth the time and the effort, but be sure to arrive early in the day as parking is very limited and fills quickly. Enjoy!

interested in the following in one day. could someone help me put them in the correct order so as to be time efficient and what parts we should drive or shuttle BUT we want to do some of the hiking trails, moderate and scenic! here is the list:
1. Cadillac Mountain for sunrise (how long does it take once we enter the park to drive up there to see!)
2. Ocean path to otter cliffs (I guess this will depend on tide, we will be there July 13th
3. Bubble Mountain
4. thunder hole
5. Jordan pond for popovers
6. Park Loop

Cadillac Mountain is only 15-20 min from the main gate driving, check for sunrise time get there 30-45 min prior and pray for clear weather. Thunder Hole is at the beginning of the Ocean Path so once again timing/conditions are key to hear the "thunder". Jordan Pond and Bubble Mountain are close enough to get that if you're hungry you can go there first or vice versa if you're not. Finish up with the Park Loop.
PS if you aren't afraid of climbing a few ladders the Beech Cliff Trail is the most underrated hike in the park! Enjoy!

Is the bubble rock trail open year round? We will be up in Maine April 5-12 and it would be amazing if we could walk the trail.
Skrevet 5. mars 2015
There are a few trails that are groomed throughout the winter. Bubble Rock Trail doesn't appear to be one of them. But by April, I wouldn't think snow will still be on the ground. Probably super muddy, though.
