If you want a short flat walk, then this is an excellent choice. It packs a lot of scenery and interest in a short distance.

Impressive and beautiful lake. Everyone talks about doing the Dream and Emerald Lake hikes etc, but if for whatever reason your group cannot do those hikes (unfit, altitude etc), Bear Lake is still a treat in and of itself. 10/10.

A beautiful walk around the lake!! Beautiful views! The parking at the bus stop was very limited and most cars had to wait until another car exited the parking space.

We took the hikers shuttle in from Estes Park. So much better than waiting in lines! Then we took the shuttle to Bear Lake where we hiked to Dream Lake before we had to turn around due to a storm. Great hike and just right for our mid-western hiking experience.

Bear Lake is a gorgeous blue lake on a sunny day. The short trail around the lake is level and easy for those with some mobility limitations.
Travelers must do some planning to visit the Bear Lake area of Rocky Mountain National Park. Check the park website for information regarding timing and permits. We parked in the overflow lot one day and took the shuttle to the trailhead. Another day, we were able to park at the Bear Lake parking lot to take a different trail. The Bear Lake area has several opportunities for trails to lakes, views, and a waterfall.

Lake - beautiful. Hike - easy and fun, great for families of all ages.
Hospitality - terrible. We did not understand that pickups/dropoffs were not allowed as no signage was posted. Instead of allowing us to circle the trailhead lot and pickup grandpa and three toddlers who were waiting, the female volunteer screamed at us to leave, even though we were not blocking any vehicles. She continued yelling at us the entire time we were getting the children and grandpa into the cars after walking them across the lot, even though it was clear we could not at that point leave.
Will not be returning to this park.

Very rude staff and needs better signage. This is a timed entry however there is no signage coming from inside the park. This forces you to turn around at the ranger booth which I’m sure annoys them. They were quite rude to an 80 year old and grandchild asking questions and had one who wasn’t even near us start screaming at us. We just left. Other national parks are much better organized and have amazing rangers.

We enjoyed our time at Bear Lake!! We took the leisure walk around the lake and had plenty of photo opportunities and we saw a little bit of wildlife. There are benches to sit down and enjoy yourself. Its a nice respite to the totality of RMNP. This is a must see and do.

It is a wonderful place to take a hike for all ages. We took a hike around the lake and there was some snow and ice on the path. It was still enjoyable. Make sure you check the NP website to see what requirements are for entry. You may need a permit.

You are not permitted to kayak at Bear Lake. From the RMNP official fishing brochure - "Float tubes and other non-motorized watercraft are allowed on all lakes except Bear Lake; all vessels are prohibited on Bear Lake. The operation of motorized watercraft is prohibited on all park waters." RMNP disinfecting requirements may also apply for other lakes in RMNP.

Where is the best place to fish in Rocky Mountain National Park?

Hello
I am thinking of visiting 2 days in Rocky. Do I take 35$ 1 week pass online? or 2 separate 25$ passes for 2 separate days?
Ignore my knowledge on this.
Thanks,
Sudheer

If I understand the question correctly, I think you should pay the $35 for the 1-week pass. If you know you are going to visit the park on 2 separate days (within a week), the only alternative is to pay $50 total for the 2 passes. I think you should save yourself the $15 and get the longer pass.

What are the best places to go now in memorial day weekend near estes park considering the snow condition of this year(24-27th May 2019). Help from anyone who has visited places like Bear lake, Emerald lake, Moraine Park, Horseshoe Park etc is highly appreciated.

You may not be aware that TripAdvisor has a Colorado Travel Forum where questions such as yours are routinely answered in more detail than can be provided here. Replies to your question can include helpful links to maps and links to additional information. Links are not permitted here. There are numerous posts on the Colorado Forum about visiting RMNP and Estes Park over Memorial Day already. I suggest that you go to the Colorado Forum and scan the topics in the Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park Forums. I will send you a private message with the links you need.

I’m wanting to snowshoe or XC ski in this area. Is there an outfitter nearby?

Estes Park Mountain Shop rents everything you need for both snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Several places in town have snowshoe rentals including Warming House, Kirk's Mountain Adventures and Outdoor World.

I will be in Colorado second week of November. Bear lake is at the top of my list to see/do. Will it more than likely be snow covered by then? What should I expect?
Skrevet 7. oktober 2018
it is very possible to have snow at that time, it will still be beautiful. Ck rd conditions and bring water and snacks and layer your cloths, a good pair of hiking boots and of course a camera. i always have an extra pair of shoes and socks in case my feet get wet, also sunglasses- if there is snow and sunshine it can be really hard on your eyes.

Some hotels and resorts actually have a shuttle to Bear Lake if I understood correctly. There may also be public transportation to the site. Also, once you get into the park, you can be shuttled to the entrance from various parking lots. I can not post a link due to the restrictions of Trip Advisor, but google "Shuttle Bus Routes Rocky Mountain National Park" and look for one that has nps.gov in the answers.
