While on a walk we saw the old station from the river and were delighted to find it was a cafe with great food and wonderful, helpful staff. So friendly. The train museum was interesting and the miniature railway. We enjoyed it so much we returned a couple of days later while on another walk

A fabulous place with great history . Lovely cafe with great coffee and cakes etc. Really welcoming and friendly staff. Very interesting to learn about the old railway and a good place to park for a walk to the Abbey.

What a wonderful hidden little gem of a place. A lovely tranquil spot on the Wye where you can sit and have a cuppa then look at the old pictures in the railway locomotives. There isa also a miniature railway.

There is so much to do in this place. An easy walk along the path or by the river, a drink or food at the station, picnic area, converted railway coach with useful information and children’s play area and sculptured historical characters out of tree trunks. We spent a memorable couple of hours here. A beautiful building and nostalgic railway history from times gone by. Definitely worth a visit. Only cost is a couple of pounds car parking fee.

Posto molto carino con attività per bambini all'aperto. È la posizione della vecchia stazione di Tintern .
Noi ci siamo fermati a mangiare. Servizio rapido e gentilissimo. Buoni i panini.

The new proprietors of the cafe have got a decent selection of snacks again and offer a choice of sandwiches and toasties that should satisfy most tastes, of the ones I've tried they've all been crammed with filling
Really impressed with the vegan flapjack, which is good to see back on the menu
A great place to call in for a hot drink and a bite to eat, which as a biker is much appreciated, judging by the other bikers there the word has spread
After the disaster of the pre-Covid crew it's good to see such a well kept cafe again

Firstly, I can’t understand why some people have moaned about the £2 parking charge. All the money raised is used to maintain this beautiful site. Everything is maintained to a high standard. The cafe is very good and not expensive. A lovely employee told us about the sites history with great enthusiasm. Not that we took any but there’s a nice children’s play area. Altogether, a lovely place to visit. All this for just £2. A bargain indeed!

What a lovely place, read some reviews before visiting there were a couple of bad ones but all generally good.
My visit was excellent great staff great food and a great location.
The young girl that made the coffee was outstanding, every coffee shop should have a girl like her definetly going to visit again As for the people leaving negative reviews about Tintern Station all I can say is get a life and stop finding fault with everything?

The history of Tintern, the central location of our short break, shows that it was once a popular holiday destination for well-off families. The advent of the railways in Great Britain encouraged tourism and Tintern became a favoured destination; particularly with the emerging middle classes. Initially these were families that could afford to travel by train. Later in the post Second World War period it was also an extremely popular family holiday destination.
The Wye Valley railway and Tintern Station was built in the latter half of the 19th century, opening in 1876 and operated as a passenger line until 1959. In the 73 years the Wye Valley Railway operated, it carried thousands of tourists to Monmouthshire, and Tintern was a favoured destination. Some pictures of the station show massive crowds on the station concourse.
That’s the history, and today the station with it’s signal box still exists as an attraction. A café with a pleasant garden here serves food and drinks. There is a play area for children and a miniature gauge railway (the steam driven loco is housed in the lower part of the signal box). The latter is currently not in operation but, from what I can ascertain and saw, there is some work being done to get it up and working again.
A series of interconnected railway carriages provide a permanent exhibition of industrial heritage and tourism in the Tintern locale. Very interesting and free.
We did enjoy our visit and we had a cup of tea in what was a very tranquil spot out in the garden. The peace was however shattered when a military helicopter flew at very low altitude along the River Wye. It was quiet, but during the summer and when schools are out, I would imaging it gets quite busy here.
