We drove to Crocus Bay and arrived at 9:30am. We had read reviews here saying Calvin hangs out in front of DaVida but we waited 30 minutes and did not see him. We also asked 3 people (one who worked at DaVida), none of whom could tell us where to find him. Finally, another DaVida employee showed up and he told us Calvin is always at the gazebo at the northeast end of the beach (to the right of you are in front of DaVida and facing the water). And so he was! We had wasted a precious half hour of shade at Little Bay!
Calvin (Little Bay Boat Services is at the gazebo on Crocus Bay from 9:00am to 5:00pm 7 days a week except for 2 months during hurricane season (I think he said August and September). It's $20 RT per person.
If you don't find him at the gazebo, you can call him using WhatsApp or call from U.S. cell phone pressing and holding the 0 until it turns to a + sign, then entering country code and phone number.

We went on a day when we saw NO tours from Sint Maartin advertised on TA. I think it worked pretty well for crowd avoidance, although it would have been better to get there before 10:00.
The little cove was beautiful, the water was calm and the snorkeling on either side, by the rocks, was better than we'd expected. Lots of different colorful fish.
We had Calvin pick us up at 11:30, knowing the shade would be almost completely gone by then.

Little bay is a small beautiful beach secluded west facing Crocus bay. The only way to get there is by a boat. we found this friendly local who gave us the best tour for my family. his name is Calvin and he could take you to Little bay. The boat ride was about 10 mins. Little bay is gorgeous and scenic with the capability to snorkel and see lots of aquatic animals. this was a lovely tour and would take about 5 hours of your day. parking available at Crocus bay. enjoy and thank me later.

Little Bay is this cute protected enclave with a tiny beach. Snorkeling, paddle boarding or swimming. Lots of beautiful things to see

Little bay was absolutely breathtaking! My boyfriend and I visited the beach by car, you drive past the Arts academy- take a left then there is a couple places to park. The hike is very short 2-3 minutes, but dangerous- I would not bring children. You are hiking down a steep mountain, where you are brought to a sandy area on the cliff. Here you will see 2 ropes where you can propel down the cliff to the beach. Both myself and my boyfriend are not experienced climbers and we’re able to propel down. However, we are both in shape (you will need some arm strength) but if you are in shape it should be fine. Once you make it down the beach is absolutely beautiful and private- we had the whole place to ourselves!! Great snorkeling and there is also a rock you can swim to and jump off- which was amazing!! 10/10 beach just make sure to bring water and tennis shoes.
You will also see some boats pull up with snorkelers that is another more common way to visit the beach.

Beautiful small beach. We enjoyed snorkeling over on the right side from the beach. Its a must to jump of the rock just be careful going up to not scrape your hands or knees as the rock is very sharp. Take the boat over from crocus bay seems the easiest way to arrive.

We didn't feel like doing water activities on Anguilla (not that they aren't worth it, some look super cool, we just wanted to be lazy for once without scheduling etc..) but figured we give Little Bay a shot to see what the hype is all about :)
The road leading to this area is 95% great and the very last piece is pretty rough to finally arrive closer to a "parking spot" that is by a sign/edge where you can no longer drive - I have included a picture here - we took 2 different routes (one is longer) but they both meet at the same spot to take you to that final rough ground - another couple arrived shortly after us and parked there too so I think it's a good spot to leave your car at :) limited space but you can easily make a U turn as well... just drive slow as it's easy to damage the tires on this last part - we had a small passenger car, no SUV/4WD needed
Once you park you literally walk 1-2 minutes on a slightly overgrown path to see where we are and then a bit further to access the "descend" - we didn't go all the way there and didn't go down as the views from the top were nice enough and that's what we came for. If you don't feel like doing this as part of your excursion you can easily do this on your own as long as you have a car.
TIP: take some sunscreen with you as you are directly in the sun at pretty much all times here

Esta praia fica na região norte da ilha. Fomos de carro até Crocus Bay e pegamos o barco com o Calvin (Little Bay Boat Service) pagando $15 por pessoa ida-e-volta (recomendo!).
Little Bay é uma enseada pequena e muito linda, com um minúsculo espaço de areia. Deve ter uns 30m de comprimento por 5-10 de profundidade até o paredão rochoso. Antigamente era acessível por corda a partir do alto, mas retiraram esta corda e aparentemente era muito perigoso.
O snorkeling ali é maravilhoso. Vimos 2 polvos, várias lulas, barracuda gigante, trombetas, papagaios gigantes e vários outros peixes.
Ficamos aproximadamente 2 horas por ali.
A praia é pública, alguns barcos param por lá e alguns turistas vem de tour de caiaque. A empresa Tradition Sailing também pára lá.
O movimento foi pequeno no dia...
Alguns turistas sobem na pedra grande para pular, mas nós não fomos.
A praia é realmente maravilhosa, um cenário único. Fica depois de uma outra baía (Violet Bay), que tem pouco espaço de areia.
Perto do paredão é o melhor lugar para ficar na sombra e o melhor lugar para deixar as coisas.
O mar estava super calmo e sem correnteza.
Recomendo também ir de carro até o alto do paredão. Rende belas fotos!
Para ir até lá, saímos de Crocus Bay seguindo o Google Maps e margeando a encosta até ver onde ficava Little Bay. No momento em que existe uma placa de escola de arte Ani, vire a esquerda, vá até o final e depois à esquerda novamente.
Ande um pouco para dentro até o penhasco e tire várias fotos! Vale a pena!
Por ali encontramos também um grupo de bodes - muito comum em Anguilla.
Recomendo a experiência!

We went to Little Bay as part of a boat/fishing charter. The cliffs/rock formations make it different from other beaches we saw on the island. The snorkeling was pretty good. We saw an urchin and my husband (allegedly) saw a puffer fish. It was a bit crowded with charters from both Anguilla and St. Maarten. Not bad, but not as serene as some might want. We didn’t do the rock jump, but we watched others do it.

Absolutely everything great about Anguilla in a tiny little cove. A must for snorkelling, and you haven't been to Anguilla until you jump off the cliff.

What would you say is the easiest way to get there from the eastern part of the island? Also, is it worth getting a rental car for the day to make the trip?

If you are just going to Little Bay, I'd look into a car service. Maurice and Sons is one we've used. They are on TripAdvisor-high ranked.

I don't know. We take Jrs. Glass bottom boat. Well worth it he shows you around and takes you snorkeling. Cost is more than Calvin but WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!! You can get Jr. at shoal bay. Go to elodis. But call to make a reservation. Tell him you want the Mark and Dusti discount. 264-235-1008
