Victor, a store manager was rude, unhelpful, impatient and arrogantly sarcastic with his assistance regarding cycle rentals. He was anything but welcoming or hospitable towards me when trying to understand the process to renting a cycle with Oleander Cycles. I asked for the owners name and he told me it would do me no good to talk with him.

Thank God for Elrico and Joe who both took time to explain fully how to navigate the website and explain the processes in detail so that I could comfortably book the reservation.

Victor, is the reason for my negative review. Hopefully noone has to deal with him when trying to rent a cycle in Bermuda. If you do come across this unpleasant man please ask for either Rico or Joe.

Charged me $20 fuel fee after I had the scooter filled up. They wait until you leave on cruise ship before charging so you can’t go back to complain. Also, my scooter was smoking for most of the trip. Be very careful!

Rented a scooter for 2 days. Fuel gauge was broken. Was hard to start after parking for a while. On day of return, it refused to start and eventually the battery died. Since it was after hours and they had asked me to leave it at the hotel, I told the reception desk that the bike wasn't starting and that I couldn't get it to the petrol station to fill it up. Oleander charged me $20 to fill it anyway. I called to explain what had happened but they flat out refused to refund the charge.

Their scooters are generally old and in poor condition. Better off renting from another company when Bermuda with a better product and attitude.

If you are coming in an a cruise ship, this is the place to rent from. I placed my reservation through Elbow Beach Cycles and they were supposed to drop my scooter off near the cruise port. Unfortunately, they never gave instructions for where the pickup place was supposed to be. I ended up going into Oleander Cycles to ask them for help. The kind gentleman called Elbow Beach for me and found out where I was to meet him and he also learned that they were running late on their scooter drop off. My phone wasn’t working and I don’t know what I would have done without the help of this business. Oleander Cycles also always you to make reservations without charging you ahead of time. Elbow Beach charges you at the time you make the reservation and you can’t cancel it. So if your ship just can’t dock for some reason, you are just out of luck. My next trip I will definitely book with Oleander Cycles. They are convenient for pick up and drop off and the scooters look like they were in better shape than the one I finally got 25 minutes after the time I was supposed to pick it up. My scooter speedometer died 1/2 way into the first day of rental.

We're delighted with the Tazzari rental. Room for golf clubs and feeling of safety and freedom to explore the island is worth every penny. Value added - no gas!

I rented two scooters. A couple of hundred dollars for two scooters for 24 hours isn't bad for Bermuda. My son and I had a lot of fun discovering some of the non-touristy places. Almost forgot to mention that we were able to return the scooters to their location closer to our B&B. I recommend Oleander Cycles mainly because the young man who took care of us was friendly and had a good sense of humor.

We have visited Bermuda a dozen times and tried every type of transportation - cycles, bus, bikes. We rented for a day the newish electric cars. Larry gave great service and instructions. There are charging stations all over the island and it is a great and safe transport! Great service

This is our second time renting from here. Will be doing so every time we come to Bermuda! This time we went with the Tazzari. Without a doubt worth the upgrade! But the service here is what takes the experience to the next level!! Big shoutout to Larry especially alongside Kamar and Rico!! These gentlemen went above and beyond to provide outstanding service, from the seamless rental process to then graciously working with me to extend our rental. Very pleased!

I am shocked and appalled by the service I received at Oleanders. I have honestly never been spoken to like it ever before as a customer, by THREE different employees.

I rented a bike for two weeks and went to pick it up from the shop in Hamilton. No one was there and I had to wait a long time for someone to come to the shop to help me. Day 3 and the bike was smoking very badly as I drove it and then failed to start back up after numerous times of trying and even locals stopping to try to help and saying the bike was ‘useless’. Fortunately I was near the shop, was able to wheel it back and received a replacement bike.

I didn’t use the bike for the next two days but on day 6 of my trip, I tried to use the replacement I had been given and that wouldn’t start either. I tried for about 30 mins and once again had the help of two locals who got off their bikes to help but neither could get it started and once again, made remarks about the quality of the bikes. I left it parked and opted to do things that required walking instead.

Day 7 and I managed to get it started after 20 mins of trying to push start (which you shouldn’t even need to do). I set off and parked at my destination but upon return, yet again the bike failed to start and I had to call a relative to come and collect me.

Day 8 (morning of Sunday 2nd August) and I took the second bike into the shop, explained my problem. I was told no and the younger member of staff I was talking to said ‘what do you expect? They have been sat idle for 4 months? It’s not our problem, they are machines’.

Deep breath later and I asked to speak to the manager. I told him I wanted a refund, which he refused. For context, I spent $350 for the two weeks. After a few minutes of incredibly unhelpful and sarcastic comments, I was offered $85 refund! Bear in mind I’m taking the bike back a week early too.

I explained that wasn’t acceptable and then got handed over to someone I can only presume was more senior again. He again refused, repeatedly talking over me whilst I was trying to talk to him and ask him what he would do in my situation. He actually told me it was my fault for not calling in the most recent problem the day before (I’m still not sure how that is at all relevant) and that rentals operated on a ‘sliding scale’, getting cheaper as the number of days rented go by (so of course the week I’m giving it back and asking for a refund were the cheapest). After 15 minutes of looking at his computer, he came back and said he would do $120 but not a dollar more. So, still not even meeting near halfway as a compromise.

Quite honestly, the whole experience was disgraceful and I would urge anyone to steer very clear of Oleanders. The bikes simply don’t work and the customer experience could not have been worse. After 45 minutes in there, at no point was there any form of apology.

If Michael wasn’t the one instructing me I probably would have never learned how to drive the cycle properly. My throttle hand was too heavy.

Y’all really should give the man a raise or a bonus!
