Windy and rough but amazing!!

There was just one other couple and our guide - can't remember his name but starts with a C. Sunday morning March 8 - very windy and rough on the water. He asked if we wanted to go out or get a refund. We all choose to go out and very glad we did. Once we got over to the Mangroves it was much calmer. Our guide was born and raised on the Island, very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. He took us through this very narrow pathway which was the highlight. Totally recommend this excursion.

Great excursion - 1st time kayaking

My husband and I (with our daughter) decided to do the kayak tour of the mangroves on our anniversary. Our guide Cornell/Cordell (sorry! forgot his name) was great from pick-up to providing info about the mangroves and wildlife. I was amazed at how easily he could spot iguanas. This was one of our favorite excursions in Grand Cayman, a nice relaxing day on the water.

Great experience!

My husband and I had a great time kayaking through the Mangroves. We learned a lot of interesting facts. We had a double kayak and it was very easy to paddle. Thank you Sea Elements for a fantastic morning!

Amazing Experience

We went with Captain Don and his crew to see the Biobay and it was amazing! Very professional and knowledgeable staff. We so enjoyed the experience. We never felt rushed and got to really enjoy the evening swimming in the water as it lit up all around us. It was magical!

Kayak tour of the mangoves

We took the mangrove kayak trip and it was a great way to spend about two hours. The guide gave us lots of interesting information about the plant life and some of the local creatures. One of the best parts is when you can no longer paddle and must pull the kayak along through the mangroves. All of the kayaks for our group were doubles and felt fairly stable.

Make sure to wear a lot of sunscreen and a hat. It was very hot and your legs are exposed in the kayak.

We were picked up at our hotel...let's just say the captain drove up in his van and sat there until I went to his window and asked who he was there to pick up (there were several people at our hotel waiting to be picked up for tours). He didn't leave the vehicle to open the door, he just told us to open the door and watch our head as we entered. We went to the yacht club to meet others who were on the tour, where we had to stand in line to pay for the tour. This took about 30 minutes of our time. So the sunset was really not seen, as they stated on their tour information. Once at bio bay we were given the option to put on the lycra suits or not, and then given directions to get into the water and swim below the pontoon. The experience itself was great! I'm a science nerd and I thought being in the water and watching it light up as we swim was great. Others in my group said is was fun for 2 minutes then they were ready to leave. During our tour, the captain did his minimal job...not even sparking conversation with the guests once the boat stopped. His helper (forgot her name, think she's from England) was the one who talked to guests and helped everyone in and out of the boat. Overall, not sure I'd recommend this crew for this tour. Find another outfit to take you there, one that is more charismatic and understands that this is our first time doing this, and understands that it's their one millionth time doing it. I guess keep it fresh and up beat even though you've been there done that.

Bio Bay

Captain Don picked us up at our hotel, then went to get others while Grace checked us in. Both of them were very nice and friendly and gave tidbits about the houses near the dock, etc. After a 25 minute boat ride to Bio Bay, they let us in the water just the right amount of time to experience the bioluminescence. I wore the rash guard suit they offered and didn't get stung (it may have looked silly, but it was dark), but my husband didn't and he did get stung 3 times. He said it didn't hurt at first, but it did burn afterwards for about 15 minutes. I'd suggest the suit and listening to them when they say to float on top of the water and not put your feet down or stay in one place too long! They explain everything very well and have vinegar to kill the itch from spreading, plus lidocaine spray if you have a reaction like my husband. The best way I can describe the experience is to liken it to looking up at a clear sky when you're in the country with no light noise around and seeing millions of stars, which you can also see on the boat ride back.

Bio Bay

Spent a wonderful evening visiting this unbelievable phenomenon with Captain Don and First Mate Grace. The boat was clean and equipped with everything we needed. We were warmly welcomed on board and excellent explanations were given. We had a mix of adults and children on board and Grace ensured everyone was happy and at ease. She took time to talk to each group individually and the rapport between grace and don was great to see. A beautiful sunset cruise on the North Sound to get there was an added bonus. Words can’t describe the actual sights we saw but needless to say everyone was in awe. Bodysuits were offered as soon as we stepped on the boat and Don was prepared with vinegar should you get a “nip”!
I can’t recommend this trip more highly, the boat, the staff, the experience

Words can’t describe

Our family of four took the Bio Bay Tour with Captain Don and First Mate Grace. Don picked us up at our hotel with the complimentary shuttle. There were 19 people on our tour. It takes about 30 minutes to reach Bio Bay. There are masks and snorkels available for use as well as black suits because there might be stings in the water. If you do get stung, both of my sons did, then you come back on board to be sprayed with vinegar. The bioluminescent plankton are amazing. Don encouraged everyone to swim under the pontoon boat to really block out any light for the full effect. The stars in the sky were equally impressive. We highly recommend this outing. They do have water on board and you can bring your own drinks and snacks.
