This beach is on the Atlantic side of the island which tends to be windy and rougher and therefore hardly anyone goes there. However, if you are a confident snorkeller, the reef is well worth the effort especially on a calm day. I saw a couple of turtles, stingrays, octopus, lobster, cuttlefish and tons of other reef fish. On the eastern end, there is the remnant of a shack that provided shade if needed.

Beach offers a nice walk, sand is more like crushed shells, but the water is Caribbean blue. The backdrop is the peninsula at St. Kitts, and that is stunning. No shade and swimming isn't ideal. Worth a walk. And you can have a drink at the bar and grill at the Nisbet end.

Over the years, Herberts Beach has lost a great deal of sand to erosion. And the very small beach bar that was once here, is long gone. I would not make a special trip to come here, but if you are staying at Nisbet Plantation, it is worth walking along to Herberts. As other reviewers say, there is a nice quiet shallow sandy area here which is good for small children who want to be in the water.

The view out to the line of waves breaking on the fringing coral reef is attractive. There is always a strong breeze here because Herberts faces into the Atlantic, so it might be good to come here if it was hot everywhere else on the island.

When I visited Herberts in May 2018 there was rather a lot of sargassum washed up, and as I mentioned, really very little sand beach compared with what used to be there years ago. But I still like it, because I love nature.

Awesome place to swim in the ocean. Close to the Nisbet and you can walk to the bar and get a drink. It has a pole that the locals walk out on and dive into the ocean.

Families watch their kids play on the slippery pole, elderly couples swim in the shallows together, and a barbecue is starting up with music playing through a car's open windows...fun!

My second favorite beach on Nevis after Lovers Beach. We enjoyed a nice afternoon at this beach which is often overlooked, but a favorite of the locals who go there with their families for cookouts. The views are fantastic and the water is clear. Some areas are rockier than others. You just have to wander around and find your spot. It is a bit wilder than others but that's what makes it great. You can wander down to the north end and get a dink from Nesbits bar. We met a very nice man named Jack and his family who were there for the day. He is the chef at The Gin Trap and gave us good insights to the island. Another group was grilling up dinner. Great place to meet locals, but never crowded.

Just walked the beach and saw such lovely birds along the shore. We often walk here when in Nevis. It is a long strip of sand where conch can be found. Locals fish here and others snorkel. Dreamy

Loved this beach. Was nice and quite each time we visited it. A few people came along from the plantation nearby for a walk but had it mostly to ourselves. Snorkelling was ok as well.

As avid snorkelers throughout the Caribbean, we're always searching for new places. Nevis doesn't rank high on snorkeling destinations, but there's one out of the way place - Herbert's Beach.

There's a separate sandy lane from the road on the north side of the island with a sign; however, you can also go through the Nisbet Beach Plantation entrance and keep to the right, using what's marked as the service entrance. The Herbert's Beach lane takes you to a grassy/sandy area to park, and then walk a few feet through shrubs to the beach. However, using the Nisbet Beach Plantation entrance gets you to a sandy but developed parking area that's also convenient to their beach restaurant!

On the beach, about a hundred yards to the right, look for the huge block of concrete and then snorkel just to the left, about 50 feet out from the block. Swim to the left - several sandy sinks with lots of fish - and keep swimming out and to the left for about ten or twelve huge sunken concrete blocks around which fish hang.

Also, from the rocky outcropping between Nisbet and the concrete block, swim out and a bit to the right for a low ridge that sweeps in a crescent to the right. Lobsters and rays.

If the water is calm enough (not too often as the Atlantic sweeps in between Nevis and St. Kitts) there are reef rocks about 150 yards out. Haven't made it out there yet.

Good luck.

Herbet beach is not that well not and often missed from the tourists. Locals go there during the weekend, but most of the time you are alone. Situated right next to the Nesbit plantation (you can actually walk from there), you have a beautiful view of St Kitts, pelican fishing and the water is gorgeous. So transparent. You can see little tropical fish around the rock and find a lot of conch and other beautiful little shells. It is very safe to swim there as well. We spent most of our afternoons there while on vacation.
