The beach was beautiful and much less crowded than the beach near the cruise ship. It was a peaceful way to enjoy the water. Do use caution as the water drops off in depth not too far out. Vendors selling delicious food and drink but no high-pressure to purchase
There were a couple of donkeys on the beach (fun to take a picture of) but the beaches security made sure to run off when they got too close.
When it was time to return to the ship, the taxi was readily available.

This is one of my favorite beaches in all of the Caribbean! The water is crystal clear and the waves a re very minimal. My elderly mother was able to get in/out without worrying about being knocked over by waves. Just absolutely stunning water.

This governor's beach has turquoise color, clear water, and sandy beach. It's beautiful, but it isn't worth $4 for taxi per person and $25 for 2 chairs and one umbrella taking in attention that the chairs and umbrella were old and broken. The umbrella was short and wouldn't give enough shade. The lady who served the chairs wasn't able to cary them to the beach complaining they were too heavy for her. We ended up carrying our own chairs because there was no one else to help us. The beach area where the chairs were allowed to be carried to was very limited, so we were not allowed to move them even a step to the right or to the front.
We received the worst service experience at the Governor's beach out of all the beaches we have ever visited for our 15 years cruising.
Don't waist your money and go to the beach next to the port on a walking distance.

Nice but beware. We were dropped off via taxi at the stretch with the rusty ship just off the shore. Chairs were rented by a local for $20. I think the taxi driver and the beach person had a deal going.

Hermosas aguas cristalinas y cálidas. Playas muy tranquilas, casi sin olas y con poca gente. Vale la pena visitarla.

Stopped at Grand Turk on our cruise. It is such a stunning location. The cruise ship stops right at the beach so no transfers needed. There is a purpose built cruise terminal which houses a duty free shop. There is also a purpose built swimming pool with sun beds for the cruise passengers along with a flo-rider. (charges apply). Bars & shops in the area include Margaritaville, Starbucks, Ron Juan Surf Shack to name a few. Some of the sun beds are free for cruise passengers, but its not clear which ones they are or where.
The beach nearest the ship is the most crowded, so we decided to walk up to Governor's Beach. Its a 20/30 min walk and this is where the Mega One Triton Shipwreck is. You cant walk all the way up the beach to it. We walked up the beach as far as Jack's Shack, turned right up the side of it, and carry on walking until you reach the road. Turn left onto the road and follow it until you see a sign pointing to Governor's Beach. We got to the beach around 8.30am and had it to ourselves for about an hour. There are toilets here. There are also plenty of trees on the beach for shade.
Around 10am a guy turned up with a load of sun beds and umbrellas if you wanted. A local person also set up a make-shift bar selling beers, soft drinks and crisps. Even as the morning progressed, the beach remained very quiet.
Next to the shipwreck was a rocky area in the sea and these 2 places were excellent for snorkelling. The sand was white and soft and the water turquoise crystal clear. Whilst snorkelling we saw a turtle, and plenty of colourful fish. This beach is what you imagine a Caribbean beach should be!

This is truly a magnificent beach, the large rusting hulk spoils the beach along with the loud thumping music from nearby beach bar

This beach is only a stones throw from the cruise terminal. Beautiful sandy beach with turquoise waters.

Like many of the beaches on Grand Turk it is white sand beaches and beautiful blue water. Have been a few times including when the cruise ship was in and when it was not. If the cruise ship is not in you have the beach mostly to yourself. That also means no food or drinks available. Bathrooms and outdoor showers are there. Bathrooms locked when ship not in. I did not try the showers but imagine the water is turned off as water is a pricey commodity.
When the ship is in people set up selling drinks not sure about food. They also have lawn chairs to rent. Was also pleasantly surprised that it was not that busy but that could have been due to only one ship at port and it was smaller for cruise ships.
Would recommend driving or bicycle from town as it’s a bit of a jaunt. Saw people snorkelling but did not try it here.

A cab will drop you off at the beach, but it's a challenge to get on back to the boat from this spot. We ended up walking from governors to jack shack

Hi, Christine. What would you like to know about this attraction? Did you have to purchase a tour to get on the beach? Or what was the cost to use the beach facilities? Last time I wen there we paid for a tour and it included snorkeling equipment/beach chairs/Umbrella's. There is 4 of us this year and trying to save $$

Hello. I'm reading conflicting information about this beach. Some places say that there are vendors offering food and drinks on port days. Others say there's nothing and it's secluded. If there is in fact nothing, are there shops right at port we can buy alcoholic drinks to bring to the beach? I don't really care about not having chairs and we'll have water from the cruise ship. Thanks!

It has been awhile since I have been there but I have been doing a bunch of research and looking at maps. I can see on the reviews there are conflicting information. I do not believe there are any amenities or food at Governors Beach. It is walking distance but it is about 1 mile (30 min) from the cruise port. I have been to Cruise Center Beach which is close to the cruise port and it has chairs, etc. So I think people are getting the beaches confused. PS. Last time I visited, I went to Cruise Center Beach and my sister went to Governors Beach. She said Governors was way prettier. I didn't think Cruise Center beach was that nice but there are chairs, food and even a pool if you start walking closer to the ship. Hope this helps.
