.. sharing photos is the best thing we love to do on Saint Thomas Grand Turk "Grand Turk"..
...folks are friendly, always open to tell you a little about our 7 miles by 2 1/2 miles wide island... everyone knows everyone if you're a "local"...
Enjoy the local crafts, post cards and the smells and sounds of the beach! Don't forget to visit Rickies down the street (around the corner from the park) of the museum for a postaletta..think they're $1.50 now!

Nice little museum with lots of history to read and pictures and artifacts. We learned alot. Well worth doing. Be aware that its only open when the cruise ships are in (like most places on the Island).

Small museum but full of great information about this island country. Well worth $5 to go in. Can get through it in 20 min if you rush, but can easily soak up most everything in 60-90 minutes.
Displays on the Lucayan Indians (indigenous to the islands), the oldest shipwreck in the northern hemisphere, the booming salt trade of Grand Turk and Salt Cay, the splashdown of John Glenn's Mercury spacecraft to the south of Grand Turk.
If it's open (call ahead!) and you're in the island, give it a look.

Excellent small museum which is definitely worth a visit.
Interesting and interactive exhibits on diverse topics such as the archeological excavation of a 16th century shipwreck, the pre-European inhabitants of the islands, the natural history of its wonderful coral reefs, the salt industry, 19th century intrepid divers, John Glen’s orbit and landing….all for $5! All set in an old Island home built around the mast of an old ship.
Great also to see that they’re working on new exhibits.
Delightful gift shop too.

We enjoyed our half hour in the air conditioned museum learning about the country and its history. We also purchased a souvenier in the gift shop.

My wife and I enjoyed our visit to the National Museum. They have lots of informative exhibits and videos. It was fun to learn about Grand Turks history and makes you appreciate more of the sights and landmarks around the island after visiting. With COVID-19 keeping the cruise ports closed the Museum has limited hours. If you plan a day or two ahead There are a few volunteers on the island that are happy to open the Museum for you to have a private safe experience. We are so happy our villa owner mentioned this to us and set it up.

Interesting Museum of the History of the Salt industry of the Island and how it brought so much wealth to the region. Interesting artifacts about ship wrecks. The replica of the Lighthouse was really cool also.

You need a taxi from the cruise port and you may as well add a taxi tour as it is about the same price. Although the museum is small it really captures the history of the islands and has some nice stories and some historic and more modern photographs. Well worth a visit if you're interested in history

How far is the museum from where Holland America ships dock? Is it walkable? How much for a taxi ride there and are there other things to see near the museum? Any buses or trolley cars to get there from the dock?

The museum is approximately three and a half miles from the cruise port. Yes, some people opt to walk. A taxi cost US $5.00 per person. The museum is in the historic Cockburn Town, it is beautiful quaint town steeped in history. Yes, there are buses and trolleys that can take you to there from the dock.
