You need a keep or something bigger than the little Lego cars you rent but it’s worth it. Super bumpy hilly ride to the beach. We found tons of conch shells

You have b@11s of steel if you attempt this in a sedan. I would never. We rented a jeep from DnB auto rental - only $80 for the day! I'd really recommend this approach. The road is treacherous - people are not exaggerating. It's VERY fun to do in a Jeep!!

Once you get there it is a beautiful, isolated beach. We were the only ones there when we arrived in the morning and by the time we left there were maybe 4 other groups.

The artificial reef is cool to see, but don't expect to see too many cool sights. We just saw a few fish. Don't go just for the snorkeling let's say that

Also heads up - no facilities so bring your own TP, water and snacks!

What can I say; it was a treacherous ride on the road leading to the beach; saw someone's bumper on the side of the road. The road or what of it is almost impassable- large gullies, rocks, etc. Drove it with a rental Honda CRV and just barely made it. I wouldn't recommend the drive with anything less than a 4x4 or Jeep. Once we arrived, we knew we made the right decision. Beautiful water and no one else in sight. Had the whole beach to ourselves for the entire day. Paradise!

Fantastic semi-secluded beach (we saw only another 10 people, not counting the resort people). After parking, there is a good beach to the left (south) towards the Amanyara resort. You can snorkel the artificial reef but there's not that much to see. We found out - after we visited - that there is a better reef if you go right from the entry steps. Otherwise, you could swim all the way out to the dive boats and mostly see sandy bottom and old reef, with just a few new corals and fishes. The last mile or so of the drive is rough road, but take it slow and you'll be fine, even without 4x4, although I'd be hesitant to go if it looks like rain.

It's a very rough ride getting to Malcolms Beach. Do not try in an average rental car! You need high ground clearance to get here due to the rocks you have to drive over. The "beach" is all rock but there were several people snorkeling just off of the beach. we didn't get in the water but it does offer amazing views of the beautiful water.

Don’t go if it has rained recently, unless u have a real 4x4. You need a vehicle with some clearance, unless you want a tow…don’t attempt in a mini rental.

Beach is deserted
If your not a strong swimmer- all u will see are the 100 or so reef balls with squirrel fish…not too exciting.
You need to swim out half mile, beyond the white reef balls to the reef. Clear water about 60’ vis - wait for the large fish from depths. saw reef shark, 4’ grouper, eagle rays and trigger fish.

We had a great time and I highly recommend but you have to know what you are in for and what you’ll find at the end. There are a lot of misleading reviews below
The beach is gorgeous - it’s low key and secluded. There is nothing there - bring your own “everything “ with you. You will likely be there alone
Next important fact - the road is bad and full of rocks and potholes- you won’t feel great in anything but a real four by four like a Jeep Wrangler. Anyone who tries this in a regular rental car is insane. There were many parts where ground clearance was a problem - with luck you can get by in a fake shopping mall “mommy-suv” but you will sweat
I want to be very clear on the next point - there is a good reason this is called Malcolm’s road beach and not Malcom road reef. There is close to zero to see on snorkeling. There are sunken giants balls to try encourage an artificial reef - it may get there in 50 years. You can see a few tiny fish - that’s it .
If you swim out to sea over 400 meters of sand getting to a depth of around 40 feet - you may see a ray or maybe a turtle
At around 500 meters from shore , you can get to the real reef but it’s 40 feet down, much better for diving plus you will be exhausted when you get there ( it’s a long long swim)
The bottom line is that this is a spectacular beach - we are happy that we went . It’s really not for snorkeling- stick to Smiths reef and the bight reef opposite coral gardens. The other great snorkeling is at leeward cut - you need to go out with boat - either with a snorkeling tour or private

Nearly deserted beach with an interesting artificial reef to snorkel around. We had a 4WD Jeep but the road was dry and we never needed 4WD - however, higher ground clearance was certainly helpful in a few spots when the rocks got bumpy. There is a small covered pavilion between the parking area and beach which is helpful to get out of the sun for a little while. There are NO other amenities - bring all your water, etc. If you like snorkeling or beachwalking but hate crowds then this is the place to be!

We had read some reviews of Malcolm’s beach and decided to make the effort to get out there from Grace Bay Beach. We didn’t have luck renting a Jeep, but did manage to rent a small Honda suv. After traveling from the main road, you will definitely be holding your breath riding on the rocky bleach colored sand blistered paths…very bumpy, isolated areas. Would NOT recommend driving in a standard car, the roads are very uneven with large holes, you can easily lose a tire and there isn’t anyone around to assist you. The road is very hilly , when you reach the cell towers continue to pass and push on until you see the beach pavilion straight ahead. The view is stunning and you will definitely feel it was all worth it. The Amanyara resort is down the beach, if you venture to the right of the pavilion it’s like paradise. There are some gaps between the reefs that you can swim between, the water is glorious ! Definitely pack some cold beverages, food and sunscreen , no bathrooms
…enjoy 🏝
