Pretty country sports oval surrounded by memorial reserve (oak trees).
Suspension bridge over creek adjacent.
Caravan camping park provided with honesty box.
Enjoyed a kick of footy with kids and a sandwich.
Took a moment to reflect on Oz men losses in wars.

Well worth a short detour off the main road. Very interesting stories about some of the men who didn't return from WW2. One person died a Japanese POW just before the Japanese surrender, another shot down over Cologne - he could have been a Pathfinder.
Others lost running out of fuel.
And the old railway station, unused. Lovely.

A beautiful reserve lovingly maintained by local Loch volunteers. The tall trees are pretty and somber at the same time. Watching and listening to all the birds such as kookaburras is a highlight in itself. Excellent bbq facilities and room for you to camp.

Established in 1922 is this memorial reserve and the echoes of a communities grief still remain. There are World War 1 memorial gates constructed by J Robinson in 1932 and as you drive through them it's clear they will stand the testament of time. But what stands out for me are the World War 2 memorial Oak trees... acorns fell around me and for a moment I recalled Chicken Little... and how once he felt the sky had fallen because one fell on his head.

But if we pass the nonsense thoughts...this is an amazing site. To commemorate lives lost during the war, the community planted these trees and there are even plaques at their bases to define the local soldier. For young men that lost their lives fighting for the soil that we stand upon... this is a final memory. This reminds us that freedom wasn't always a given, it had to be earned at times in history.

The trees are quite stunning and they are on the Rec side of the local suspension bridge ( built many years after the reserve was there). I chatted to a European lady and we expressed a sadness that these trees represented such great losses to the locals. Take a moment to stop and reflect.
