Visited these gardens Saturday 11 June 2022. I have been to Barbados six times and did not know they existed. They are absolutely beautiful, filled with tropical plants, birds and butterflies. Sharon Cooke gave us a guided tour and her passion and enthusiasm was evident throughout the tour. The entry fee was $30 Barbados dollars (BDS). A taxi from Oistins cost $80 BDS and we took two local buses back to our resort for the cost of $7 BDS.
Local produce, jewellery, arts & crafts also available for sale. Got some lovely jewellery and had lunch. You can take a picnic and sit and eat in the grounds.
Very laid back and peaceful. Definitely worth a visit.

A fabulous way to spend a few hours. The owner Sharon Cooke happily showed me the humming birds when I couldn't find them. The ticket let's for a month so you can revisit as many times as you want to. Its a beautifully thought out garden with so many surprises.

We arrived at around 9:30am and basically had the gardens to ourselves. It was lovely and peaceful. It took us around 2 hours to walk round slowly and look at all the plants and trees. I would recommend scanning the QR code at the entrance which gives you a free guide.

An amazing garden overlooking the sea. A maze of paths among tropical plants and trees with shady places to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Has a small cafe and gift shop. The gardeners are really knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely a place to visit when in Barbados.

Thank you so much for your review. Amazing is a perfect description. When viewed in its full context, Andromeda is even beyond amazing. Iris Bannochie created something very special indeed. Thanks again. Regards Sharon.

If you like plants, Kew, countryside and Spying this is the place. The plants are simply magnificent and the whole place is an educational experience. The extra about Bond and spies should be exploited more but this sets the level against which the other ‘nature’ attractions should be compared. If you have any interest in plants you need to include this in your bucket list. Also the east of the island is amazing and cannot be missed.

Haha! Yes, you are right. We really need to make much more of the secret US navy surveillance station located in the basement! Thank you for your whole review. It made us all smile. Hope you are able to return one day - our new Ethnobotanical Garden is progressing and should be open in a couple of months. Regards Sharon

We visited last Friday 25th whilst also dropping into Bathsheba for some surfer spotting and lunch.
We were greeted by a lovely lady (sorry didn't get her name) who was so happy to explain all about the history of the gardens and how they developed before explaining how the on line guide sheet worked. They have wifi so it was easy to download.
We love a guide sheet so we can follow it around, understand what we are looking at and hopefully don't miss anything en route. Whilst a few of the numbered markers were obscured we found our way around without issue.
This garden is a little piece of paradise tucked away from the hustle n bustle of the rest of the island which I urge everyone to visit (it is accessible by bus if you don't drive, call them and they will give you guidance) and support. It was originally created by Iris Banochie back in 1950 and she was definitely a lady who lived before her time searching the world over for plants, shrubs n trees that she could plant here and transform the landscape.
We loved how she had created small gardens within one large garden like the palm tree area for example where there are couple of trees that are on the list of possible extinction!
We also enjoyed sitting and just being, absorbing the sounds and smells around us. Listening to the bird song and watching the wildlife including one little fellow who landed on a leaf above us and reminded us of "Harry" from a very long running Uk programme filmed in the Caribbean.
There are strategically placed seats throughout so plenty of opportunities just to relax n enjoy this beautiful corner of Barbados.
We are NT members back in the UK which means we could have received a discount but tbh we were happy to pay the full price and support this wonderful cause.

Thank you for your review. And thank you for your generosity. We are desperate for support - as you figured out all by yourself!
Instead of the guide sheet we now have the Andromeda App. Well, it is still the guide sheet but it is much better than the PDF document. Come back and try it. lol!
I'm so pleased that you were able to linger and soak up the beauty and interest in this amazing space.
Looking forward to welcoming you again. Regards Sharon.

Thank you! And I'm pleased you noticed the work - much of it was forced upon us due to the catalogue of disasters last year, but we do continue to invest and improve this magnificent garden. Ethnobotanical Garden coming soon! And you will love it! Thanks again. Regards Sharon

Fabulous gardens and well worth the short drive from Bridgetown.
The gardens have been thoughtfully planned and laid out with plenty of information on the plants, trees, etc.
We particularly liked the signposting which made sure we did not miss anything. Really enjoyed our visit.

We absolutely loved this place… the fauna was really interesting and unlike anything we get in the UK. However what also stood out were the monkeys. We were walking amongst them and they were truly fascinating! We got plenty of videos of them.
The park is accessible via the number 6 bus from Fairchild Terminal in Bridgetown, and there are also bars just down the hill on the waterfront for afterwards if needs be.
We should also add that we lost an iPhone on the way to the site and Annelise and her team were so kind and helpful in tracking it back down for us. Thanks guys :)

Thank you for your review. Yep! It is monkey time. They usually pass every day, early in the morning and late afternoon. But when the mammey apple tree is fruiting, they tend to be here nearly all the time.
Your phone. You are welcome!
Thanks again. Regards Sharon.

An amazing day out! So beautiful, calm, and educational as well. If you go to a garden in Barbados, make it this one. Couldn’t recommend it enough

Thank you so much Lilleth. I agree. I simply love authentic experiences and private gardens such as Andromeda, as opposed to gardens created as attractions, have so much history and cultural relevance. Andromeda has so many stories - it could be made into a book!
Yes. Part of our mandate as a botanical garden is to educate. This will be taken even further once our new Ethnobotanical Garden is finished - more to explore and discover.
Thanks again. Regards Sharon

Hi, I can’t get a sense if there is an entry fee? And can you come whenever or do you have to come with a tour? We are coming in November. Thanks!

the people there while very nice, are not fast at responding. As it is completely open I would go by and see when you are driving in the area. Did you email them? It may take a day or two to get a reponse

My question about steps (also steep hills) is for someone with reduced lung capacity. So it's a breathing issue not walking problem. Thanks for all who answered but could you please reply again thinking about someone who's gets severely out of breath when climbing a flight of stairs or steep hill. Many thanks!

I think you should be okay if you choose the short route and take your time - terrain is undulating but not steep as such. I will just mention that we usually visit B'dos late May, a time when humidity is high and this in itself can be quite restricting - hope this helps.

London, UK64 bidrag
Either up to Speightstown and down the east coast or down to Bridgetown and over to east coast. Better still do it as a whole day out as a circle. Start early and chill. Regular buses from Bridgetown. 40 minutes or so. Just ask where to get off. Other places of interest on the route. May have to walk a bit but buses stop outside the gardens. Have a look on Barbados Transport web sight $2 BD each trip. Not expensive. It’s that price one stop or end to end of route. Enjoy

Will be visiting in March 2017 for 1 day from cruise ship. Do you accept credit cards for payment to enter the park? It looks beautiful. Are there many monkeys and are there waterfalls?. Also if you want a guide do you have to ask for one in advance of visit.
Thank you,

Hi Pat. Yes. We do accept credit cards. Our monkeys are wild and there ae many of them but we do not feed them. They usually visit the garden twice a day - early in the morning, about 7am and late afternoon, after 4pm. Occasionally, visitors see them at other times but that is unusual. There are no waterfalls. Guided tours take place on Mondays at 10am. You will need to request a guide if your visit is not on a Monday morning. We do not offer guided tours at weekends, public holidays or after midday. I hope this helps. Regards Sharon

Hi. You'll need to get a bus to Bridgetown and then a Bathsheba bus from the Fairchild Street Bus Terminal - Gate 6. Buses are scheduled to run on the hour, every hour. Hope to see you!
