We stopped in for a cup of coffee after a long day of sightseeing at Bannockburn and Stirling. We loved the decor, the friendly staff, the view out the window and the glorious sunshine. Great coffee, lots of art and a wonderful place to visit.

A very pleasant eating experience. Good food and good atmosphere with very friendly, efficient and attentive staff. I asked for a small change to the menu and this was easily dealt with without any difficulty. Coincidentally to another reviewer, there was a large party dining in the restaurant but our own service was unaffected. The bistro does not have a licence so make sure you bring your own. If you take white wine make sure you bring it in a cooler since they are not allowed to put your wine in their fridge but will obligingly bring an ice bucket. For lunch there is a fixed price menu selection. Three courses is terrific value.

My partner and I stopped off for a late lunch after shopping in Stirling. I had venison sausages and mashed potatoes which were very good but a little overcooked and over-priced. My partner had griddled roast vegetables and goat's cheese ciabatta which she describes as the "best she has had in years". The service was excellent and decor just right with nice relaxing music. It was quite busy with a party of 12 having a birthday celebration including several children who were well catered for and happy. This was our first visit and we will definitely return. I am not sure if it is licensed.

My wife and i went in for a meal after passing by a few times myself...
We where not welcomed in at the door as you would expect at a real restaurant or bistro so we seated our selves. The decore is a little blank and there is allot of space... Good or bad thing? I'm not sure...
For the meal I had The venison which on inspection looked slightly undercooked but not enough to ring any alarm bells and my wife had the fish (sea bass i think), which came with a lovely sauce.
The waiter who served us was very pleasant, but we diffident see head not tails of any other staff.
The food was very tasty and the portions where just right, but something must have gone bad and was then served to me, most likely the venison...
I awoke the next day with terrible stomach cramps and dare i say it, DIARRHOEA, so i had to take the next few days of work to recover. i will not be dining there again, but would recommend it if your needing a little time off work, ha ha...

Has changed hands - now called Macmillans Bistro & Coffee House
Food is freshly prepared and quality is excellent. Friendly staff.
Would advise booking if using restaurant in the evening as it is busy.

I have been struggling to find a good place for lunch locally that makes the children feel as welcome as the adults. I need look no further than this lovely cafe.
There is enough space inside the tastefully decorated room to allow for people with children to stay near the play area if they wish, but the space is big enough that the play area does not dominate and a quiet lunch can still be had.
The menu has a good range of food - home made soup, baked potatoes, paninis, sandwiches, lovely cakes and really good coffee. A varied children's menu kept my wee ones happy and they loved the play area with it's playhouse, slide, toys and books. This meant that the almost impossible happened - time to relax for a wee while over a coffee while the children had fun too! I enjoyed the sandwich and soup deal which was excellent and could not resist the Victoria sponge, which I would recommend!
The staff are friendly and helpful, the menu full of choice, very reasonably priced and the kids will love it too (I have a 3 year old and a 5 year old).

Up in Scotland shortly before Christmas, my wife and I passed through Buchlyvie and stopped off for a quick bite in what turns out is an old post Office now lovingly rewored into an excellent coffee shop and much more. Some two hours later, we continued our journey as rather than just grabbing a sandwich and a coffee to go, we decided to eat in and boy, was that the right choice. Homemade soup was followed by an excellent tuna and cheese panini for me and a chicken salad for 'er indoors, and we simply could ot resist the cakes. A really pleasant coffee house with an owner who obviously has put a lot of thought into his clientele and/or potential clientele. There is a kiddies play area at the front and another room to the rear set aside where kids can paint local pottery to their own design while the parents can dine in relative peace and quiet. If you're using the road between Stirling and Loch Lomond, then this is the watering hole for you to stop off at. There is a small car park to the rear of the premises, but parking on the road is usually available too. I highly recommend it, it is delightful !!!
