Chill beach in a beautiful location

Natural protected area that's excellent for relaxation.

We chose the early entry time at 8am. No fee to enter.

We rented an umbrella for 300 pesos from a group selling them at the entry gate (while we waited in line for the gate to open). The 10 or so free palapas fill up fast - so if you aren't in the first few vehicles to enter - bring your own shade.

High tide was at 7am this day - so entering at 8am was ideal. We got in to almost waist deep. By 11am the water in the bay was very shallow.

We walked over around the corner (along the shore or in the water) towards the Mushroom Rock. There was a line to take pictures with it - so we just looked from a distance. It was deep water and nice on the opposite bay from Balandra - so definitely recommend going over there to look.

No one selling anything on the beach was nice. The toilets are available for a donation.

Overall a chill spot that's a must-see when visiting La Paz Mexico.

This beach is open 8-12 and 1-5. We got there about 10 and went to the beach and the overlook. We left at 1130 and there was already a line for the afternoon time. Bring water sandals. The rocks are sharp. You may want sneakers for the overlook. There is a dry toilet. And they sell water and umbrellas at the front entrance.

Es una opción muy interesante para visitar en la zona de La Paz, hay dos turnos de visita a las 8 de la mañana y a las 13
Tiene un cupo de 400 personas por visita
Sin duda es muy interesante subir al mirador , lo que te permite tener una vista completa de la zona
Para ir a la zona del Hongo, o bien vas por el agua o te alquilas una lancha de remos
Ambas opciones son válidas pues no tiene profundidad
El lugar no tiene ningún bar por lo que has de llevar agua o bebida, así como sombrillas
Si tiene baños muy cuidados
Sin duda merece unas horas de tu tiempo

Obligado si visitas Los Cabos

Fuimos en auto desde Cabo San Lucas, si no conoces te recomiendo activar el GPS, de igual forma compramos todo lo necesario para llevar a la playa, es casi la última y no hay nada alrededor mas que desierto y más mar.
No nos cobraron ningún acceso únicamente nos contaron ya que sí controlan el acceso de las personas, entramos en la segunda hora, nos permitieron el acceso a las 12.30pm y podíamos quedarnos hasta las cinco, hay baños secos y solamente te piden una propina, hay renta de sombrillas, obligado ir al hongo de balandra que esta a unos 100mts desde la entrada. subimos a los miradores y fue una vista increíble

Please HELP the stray dogs

Balandra is amazing. But it is located in the middle of nowhere and there are 4 or 5 stray dogs that were abandoned there . The people who take care of the place feed them (as much as they can) but it’s not enough and they do look malnourished so if you can, please take some food and fresh water for them.

This place is just magical, as shown on the pictures. The view from the top is amazing. The beach itself might get a little crowded but if you walk a little further down (take an umbrella with you) you can probably get a nice stretch of beach to yourself.

Fantastic beach! Must see! BYO Everything

Balandra is a set of 7 beautiful and pristine beaches. It is a MUST see in the area, so try to go at least once while staying in La Paz. We got on the line for the afternoon session (1pm-5pm) at about 11:35am. It was a Saturdays, so probably one of the busiest days. We were maybe the 15th car in line at that point. They let us in around 12:40pm. You want to get there early if you aren’t bringing your own umbrella, so you can snag one of the free palapas. This would be a long afternoon without any shade. Honestly, it’s best to travel with your own umbrella in this region, as most of the beaches either have limited palapas or charge for their use.

We got the fist palapa by the rock formation, and it was such a beautiful spot everyone invaded our space in order to get their Instagram photos, or get by to wade over to the mushroom rock. I don’t blame them, bc it was a great spot. Just a little annoying at times (there was a lack of personal space. So, if you want to be undisturbed, don’t choose that first palapa.
There is no cell service and no facilities there, so bring a cooler with ice, drinks and any food you need.

The water is crystal clear and the sand is white. The water isn’t very deep, even during high tide. Check the tide schedule before you go, bc I think its waaaay better at high tide. I swam across to the beach directly across the water and back (about 1/2 mile each way). There was only an area in the very middle where the water was just over 6ft deep during high tide.

We went once, and that was enough bc there are so many other beaches to see that you don’t have to wait on line to get in to. Playa Tecolote is very close to there and is an awesome beach for swimming and chilling out.

Hay que llegar temprano porque solo dejan entrar a 450 personas de 8 a 1 y otras de la 1 a las 5, hay que llevar lo que se vaya a comer, porque no venden nada, pero todo está hermoso.

Worth the wait

You can’t come to La Paz and not visit Balandra.

If you are going to drive your own car make sure to arrive no later than 7:25 as anyone arriving after that runs the risk of not being let in. If you want to have an Uber drop you off, they charge between $250 and $340 pesos to take you. Make sure to arrange for them to pick you up as well. If you arrive by Uber or taxi, take a photo of the last car in line when you arrive as that will be your spot in line. People without cars stand and wait by the gate. Don’t forget to take the picture because they will make you walk back from the gate if you do not have the picture taken. Also keep in mind that not everyone gets in right at 8 am as they have to tell each group of people the rules before they enter the beach. We arrived by Uber at 7:30 and got in by 8:30

There is minimal shade once you get in and no food or drinks. Make sure to come prepared. We bought an umbrella for shade and it has come in handy on all days at the beach as it is super hot pretty much every day in August. Make sure to secure your umbrella as the wind gust can blow them away if not done correctly.

The water is very shallow and you can see many fish swimming around you. Make sure to drag your feet while walking to avoid stepping on manta rays and startling them. I only saw one and I was in the water for about 2 hours.

Overall, don’t expect a beach with people trying to sell you stuff and get a bunch of money from you. The 3.5-4 hours will fly by if you are well prepared so enjoy your time!
