THIS IS SO BAD FOR THE HORSES... DANCING HORSES ARE A CRUEL AND UNNATURAL STEP....it causes great damage and cruelty....if you care anything about horses or beings, avoid this type of entertainment!!

This tour was a toss up. We were unsure if we'd enjoy it. With that said, this trip was a highlight of our trip! We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! The guide (I believe his name was Victor) has lived in Mazatlan his whole life and he was very knowledgeable and entertaining! The tequila tour was interesting and my husband enjoyed the tequila. La Noria's artisans were very impressive and I bought a cute pair of handmade sandals for about $12. The lunch was delicious, however I was a little sad that our group did not get to make our own tortillas. We did make our own salsa, which was great. Overall, this was a great tour and I definitely recommend it (just be wary that it will take up most of your day).

We signed up for the 5hour tour, which turned into 7 hours. Our guide did not tell us that the first hour would be spent picking up other guests at other hotels.
The tequila tour is inland and is heavily tropical with plants, mores etc. which means bugs and extreme heat. All the guests were complaining about the bugs biting us and there was no bug spray available. The tour at the factory, was over an hour with information that actually got boring after awhile. Many guests drifted away to sit in a cooler area. If you go, take bug spray and a fan.
The dancing horse demonstration was about 30 minutes and was very entertaining.mi would have preferred to spend more time there learning how the horses are trained to dance.
Lunch followed and we made salsa and our tortillas. The food was very good.
I would suggest this tour, but be aware that it can be much longer than expected and you should take bug spray.

The tour takes you to a small village close to Mazatlan. The drive is interesting and gives a good idea of some of the more rural life. First stop was a family owned place (Los Osuna) that makes tequilla. On the tour you see how it is made and get free samples at the end of the very tasty product. They also have a jewelry store with nice things. The tour takes you to a man who trains horses to dance, like for Mexican festivals. Beautiful horses and very impressive to see them dance. In the small village of Puerta de Canoas, ladies teach you how to make excellent salsa and tortillas, followed by an very good simple Mexican lunch eating those tortillas. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.

My friends and I don't drink. This tour was titled the tequila tour at our resort. We almost didn't sign up for it. It included the chance to learn how to make tortillas and salsa from locals, however, and we really wanted to do that. I'm so glad we took the tour! The visit to the tequila factory was fascinating. We sampled a couple of different varieties of tequila. Then we visited a horse training facility. We were treated to performances by three different dancing horses! Next we had an enjoyable lunch learning to make corn tortillas and salsa by hand. Our last stop of the day was a local candy making shop to sample delicious milk candy. It was such a nice, memorable day. We all talked about different aspects of things we learned or enjoyed for days to come. I'd love to do it again.

When arriving at our hotel we were given a brochure called "Mazatlan's Tour Guide" which listed this as a new tour where we were supposed to "roll our own tortillas", see dancing horses and eat an authentic lunch. Instead the first half of the tour was visiting a tequila factory, nothing of which was mentioned as part of the tour. We don't drink and would never have gone on this tour if we had known. And the only thing you do with tortillas is put dough on a flat plate, mash in flat and place it on a fire to bake. We did make our own salsa which was fun. Also didn't get to see the dancing horses because of a funeral in the family. All in all a disappointing tour and not worth the money.

During the drive to the tequila factory - the tour guide made it a point to discuss what we were passing (the rooster farm). He was quite knowledgeable about the tequila factory and threw in some jokes and what not to keep us entertained.
we stopped in the town of Puerta de Canoas at a farm where horses are trained in dancing - this was quite a neat thing to see. The horses footwork was great.
We then walked to the place where we had lunch -- we pressed the tortillas and then used a mortar and pestle to make the salsa -- I was disappointed in that I thought we were going to be making the dough or at least getting the recipe and shown how to mix it etc.
The food that was served after we tried our salsa was VERY good -
