This was a fun excursion. The tequila tasting was good and entertaining. The food provided was very good and an overall fun time.

We went here on a bday vacation trip after touring some of the city. I remember ending up at Rancho Verano on spring break in 2005 with friends from college. It was the best experience of the week that week and also the highlight of our return trip in 2023. All of the tequila tasting was fantastic and I bought way too many bottles. Our guide was great, down to earth, and born in CA (NINERS FAN!!!). You definitely need to take this tour!

Great experience! Jose made our tour fun! Wish we would had his knowledge before our bourbon tour!
The food was outstanding! All the seafood was fresh and seasoned to perfection!
Would recommend to my pickiest friends!

We loved our guide. He was knowledgeable and funny. Tequila was wonderful and then we ended with an awesome lunch!

Great tour was completely impressed with the process of how tequila is made.. Don was great at explaining everything and showing up the process! You won’t be disappointed on this tour

Amazing people, amazing experience! The family who owns the Distileria were very informative, friendly and fun! Amazing tequila and flavored liquors. The food was amazing as well!

Jose is the best. 5 years in a row now. Family owned and they treat you like family. The fact that they have the best Tequila, Food, and margaritas just adds to the charm.

Came to this tour with my mom. Julio was our host and taught us about his family history and how tequila was made from agave plants. He was very entertaining, amusing, made great jokes which made the experience more enjoyable as we tasted 10 different types of tequila with him! After the tequila tasting we had lunch at the restaurant above on the second floor of the distillery (food was not included within the tour $). After tasting the tequila, they have a tequila shop where you can purchase your favourite bottle. I ended up purchasing the special edition skull bottle!

We have been to several Tequila Distilleries around Puerto Vallarta (PV) and have tasted at local establishments for the 10+ years we have been coming to PV. We believe Rancho Verano is the best tour of the process of making the tequila; they make, bottle and label at the distillery so you get to see the whole process.
The tasting experience is amazing too! They take you through the silver, Reposado, Anejo and Extra Anejo tasting. This is followed by tasting the flavored tequilas (Capuchino and Pecan are our favorites). The best part of the experience is that once you try the Extra Anejo (sipping tequila), you'll never go back to drinking the other tequilas.
This tequila can only be purchased at the distillery, and if you buy enough, they give you an extra bottle. We always end up with more than we wanted to buy.
You'll need a driver / taxi to get there if you want to sample though. Enjoy the experience!

Learning the history of real tequila and trying so many different types was really neat. This is a small-batch family distillery and the passion of the family is very evident. The restaurant is very expensive but you get a lot of food.

Checking to see if it's a scam.
I read a review that the tequila sold there is no good.
The tour is good but the over priced tequila sold there is poor quality.
Just wondering.

They are there every day. Usually pretty busy with tours. They guys there are a real 'hoot'. One of them is very thankful for working there. He said that until he got the job there, he was just an ordinary drunk. Now, he is a connoisseur of fine tequila!!!

I can't seem to find this exact location on google maps. It says it's somewhere near Conchas Chinas. Is this correct?
Also, does this location have agave farms?

My friend on I were in PV a few years ago and did the city/tequila tour. No complaints thats for sure. I would like to contact the distillery we visited but cannot recall the name. I do recall sitting on benches outside in a covered area, nothing fancy. The samples were on a table in front. We sampled about 6 different tequilas; chocolate, coffee, plain. All very smooth. We have been kicking ourselves ever since as this tequila was only available on site.

I'm trying to book a tour but the website tequila tours vallarta (com) does not work so I'm not sure how to proceed. We'd like to go tomorrow or Sunday...how should we book a tour? Or, can we just show up and they can give us a tour once we are there?

We just showed up. We first tried a tasting room in PV but struggled to get them to call us back. When they did the cost was stupid expensive (likely where the cruise ship excursion goes). Our group was made up of people in the wine and tree fruit industries so we wanted to see the whole process. We hired a taxi to take us. It took about an hour to get there, the taxi waited and took us back to our condo after. We paid about 50.00 US but well worth it. You will taste enough tequila you shouldn't drive.

What is the best way for us to book the tour (we will be staying at an AirBnB apartment so no option for hotel reception) and how much does it cost per person? Is there any deal offered for booking in groups? Thank you!

Hi Michelle,
I booked excursion through the ship at a nominal cost. I would call them direct and ask about fees and transport. Groups should receive a better rate but not expensive at all.
Cabs and buses run daily and cheaply. Best part is sampling at end of tour and then purchase if necessary. Enjoy.
