Interesting with English signs

It was good to see the place where one of the most brutal killers of 20th century spent last few years of his life. Some call him brilliant. I guess he was in same way as other Soviets and Nazis.

Cool to look round, always wanted to go. Good displays with lots of English narratives. Was a tattoo exhibition in too at the time. Price is very good.

The extra sure that the museum is actually open again
jun. 2021 • Par
No one told us there was closed temporarily. Even though it says it's open it is closed. FYI

We were here at the last week of June, 2021

A life story "from the photos"
mar. 2020
Having known about the person from history books (which yes was the reason for my visit to this site), I would just say that it was a "great enhancement" of my knowledge of Leon Trotsky as I went through 3 different areas on site (two small buildings & an area like a shelter) each with "quite a number" of enlarged photos of him which taken as a whole is just a "fairly-comprehensive coverage" of his adult life from his Bolshevik years (among the photos one of him with Lenin who was giving a speech to a crowd) to his exile years in Europe (among the photos one with his wife on a fishing boat as likely taken during a vacation) to his time in Mexico (among the photos one of him & his wife along with the celebrity Frida Kahlo stepping off a boat which likely is a scene as they were greeted by her upon their arrival in the country) to his assassination by an axe-murderer (photos of his head wound, the murder weapon & the killer after the arrest); and actually to see not just those of the Trotskys is also a nice collection of photos for the "world history" arranged over the historic timeline of about a century. And as for me personally, despite this site being a museum of his home, the visit was more for the site buildings (where the photos are as mentioned above) than for the house itself which is actually just one for a fairly quick walk-through (with an exterior part of which "somewhat appealing" I would say with a nice cover of leaves & flowers, but with an interior just a simple one of common furniture & objects including some sizeable collection of books); and with all the buildings of the site located around a nice-sized & well-maintained lawn, it was also a pleasant time just on the site grounds (with actually also some outdoor features of a "plate monument" for both him & his wife and a "replica hen house" likely similar to the one kept by the Trotskys during their time here).

If coming by metro, Coyoacan Station (on Line 3) is where to get off from which it's a 20-minute-or-so walk to this site located in a "quiet neighborhood" (and likely a well-to-do one with some high-rise condo buildings & such).

lieu historique incontournable
mar. 2020

Extremadamente interesante. MUY POCO PUBLICITADA AL TURISTA.

Registro histórico de um heroi da humanidade
feb. 2020

Be Red and Be Dead
feb. 2020
If you have read about Frida Kahlo's life you probably know about Leon Trotsky. This little socialist red house is near the blue house and there are no Ines and costs just 70 peso to get in.
I had already read the long storied history of this Soviet revolutionist, so I just did a walk thru seeing the machine gun bullet holes of the assassination attempt that didn't succeed and on to the office where he was assassinated with an ice ax to the head. He had sought asylum in Mexico from Stalin and lived with Frida and Diego for a couple of years before moving to this house. His tomb out in the garden features the Communist hammer & sickle symbol.

One of the most interesting museums in a city full of great museums.
feb. 2020
The Trotskys used the same clay plates and pots I used when I first came to live in Mexico. The kitchen is similar to the one I first had. It is so easy to imagine Lev and Natalia living here. Trotsky’s desk is as it was the day he was fatally attacked by a henchman of Stalin. You can still see the bullet holes made by an inept band of Stalinists lead by the painter Siquieiros in the wall of the couple’s bedroom, and see the bed under which their grandson Esteban hid during the attack. The most touching thing is the resting place of Lev’s and Natalia’s ashes in the garden under what may be the last red flag with the hammer and sickle on it that exists in the world.
