I made the mistake of going into the concert hall after driving a busload of long noses. What a pompous environment. It was a practice and the usher made me wait in the foyer for 15 minutes for fear of disturbing the precious elite on stage. Whatever. And do not get me started on the music I heard when finally admitted to the inner sanctum. Boring, repetitious, uninspiring, forgettable.
Will drive bus again, but have learned a lesson about going inside.

No bad seats here! We were high up in the gods but the acoustics are excellent and the concert wax wonderful!

Went to see the Knights of Music show in May. While in Calgary for 2 nights I checked what we could do for an evening. I purchased tickets for the symphony, not realizing there would be 4 Broadway singers performing. What a wonderful surprise. The music was outstanding. Congratulations Calgary for having such great music in a beautiful building.

Love to hear our Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra!
We frequent the "POPS" with regularity----and the Specialty, and Seasonal
Productions. Recently We attended the ST. Patricks Presentation---and it
was certainly a Rousing evening!
All of Calgary should have a chance to listen to just one performance, and
they would understand what a tremendous contribution this Orchestral venue
provides to our city.
Highly recommended!

Went to the CPO who had Second City Comedy troupe from Toronto. It had some ad lib sketches . The group of six performers were polished and entertaining. It made the CPO less serious and more fun. They even had the entire audience performing sounds in lieu of the symphony.
CPO is changing with newer members and young conductor Karl Hirzer. Attended the after show interview and learned about some of the new American musicians and older members in the CPO. Nice to have an insider perspective.

Almost always a pleasant night out. Each concert is different and occasionally misses the mark, but most are worth while for a fun and relaxing evening .

Saw the CPO with the Jeans and Classics - Fink Floyd on Saturday. Absolutely great concert. Wonderful and extensive use of the CPO in the music. The Pops series is absolutely fantastic.

I was promised a volume discount at the beginning, then half of my programs did not qualify, then I was promised to get administration fees waived when I buy tickets for the remaining couple of concerts. I agreed, then my chosen tickets were already sold, therefore, I had to upgrade to the most expensive ones and pay all administration fees at the end. Very disappointed.
Otherwise, nice place to visit, just not be fooled by sweet promises. It is not true.

As classical music lovers we were immediately drawn to watching the orchestra.
We bought tickets in the centre balcony, frotlnt row (stage left). They are good seats, however, as I am quite short, the metal bar that goes across the front was at my eyeline.
The Philharmonic Orchestra were fantastic and we were lucky enough to see the national anthem played (a treat for us Brits!) and to see Janina Fialkowska play Chopin's piano concerto No1.
She was fantastic and a true talent!!
