We did the Maligne Lake and Spirit Island boat cruise. The scenery is so beautiful it looks exactly like the postcards. The journey to and from Spirit Island is made even better by the commentary by Connor and the expertise of the Captain Brooke. Would do this cruise again

On a recent trip to Jasper, we visited Maligne Lake and Spirit Island both of which are among the most amazing, breathtaking, and culturally significant sites I have visited.
Maligne Lake is a huge expanse of water surrounded by untouched wilderness that could have been an image on a postcard. The stunning views go on and on for miles before reaching Spirit Island. On the way we were informed of the history of the area, the original custodians of the land and how to best respect the area.
When we arrived at Spirit Island, we were truly speechless at its beauty. The glacial green water and picture-perfect Island are not done the justice they deserve on Instagram, and I would urge anyone who can see it in person to do so. There is something really special about the place that you can just feel, and you really can understand why the first nations people hold it in such high regard.
You could honestly spend days just gazing at the place and still never get tired of it. Nothing I can say, or any pictures would describe how amazing this place is and instead I would urge anyone who can go to just do it and see for yourself.

Enjoyed the boat ride to this location of Spirit Island. Very peaceful and sacred. It was a beautiful day trip.

Took a 4:15 cruise with Jordan and Cam. They were a great pair who did a wonderful job sharing this beautiful place with us! Just amazing’😁😁 Highly recommend if you are in Jasper!

We took the boat cruise and it was wonderful.
A 90 minutes cruise to the spirit island, 15 minutes on the island and back.
The spirit island has a Gorgeous view!!!
Thanks alot to Bea, the great guide. She is so knowledgeable, funny and nice.
And thanks to Aron the captain.

Just returned from a great trip to Spirit Island. Absolutely stunning. The boat captain,Cam and guide Bea were fun and informative. Definitely a highlight of our time in Jasper

We road on the Mary Shauffer boat with Becca and Jordan R. These two were amazing at their job. They were so kind and funny. Also very knowledgeable about the history of the area. They went above and beyond with every one on the boat. My three grandchild even got to help drive the boat. A memory they will never forget. I highly recommend this tour. Thank you again to Becca the captain and Jordan as our tour guide. You guys are awesome!

the history is amazing, learning about the people who cherish this Island and having such a deep connection with it. One thing I took away from the info I learned on this trip was the saying "Home is wherever the sun shines on you". Absolutely beautiful and still think about it to this day. A must see for sure.

If you take the Maligne Lake boat cruise, it should include this world famous spot. It's located at the end of the cruise drive up Maligne Lake. Apparently, tour cruise boats aren't allowed to go further up the river/lake area. However, it's still well worth the boat ride.
We were allowed to disembark at a boat landing and walk to take in the majestic views of this island and lake area. The island itself is quite small, but it has a certain mystique to it. We also learned that depending on the time of year, one can actually walk on to the island from the main landing area (if one is allowed). On this day, it wasn't quite shallow enough to do such a thing.
We spend about a half hour or so enjoying this part of the lake area. Then, we got back on the boat and headed directly back to the main landing area. It's well worth the fairly reasonable price. It was included as part of the optional part of our small group tour. However, you can also buy a ticket if you are not part of a tour or group.

When is the best time to view Spirit Island to get THE BEST LIGHTING?? I want the sunlight to be behind me (like when facing east) or above, not blinding in my shot as I view the island. When most images are taken from land looking out to the island, which way are you looking? East? West? South?

actually the best time to go to the island is on the would be the photographer too. this is the last boat of the day, the light is on your west side highlighting the island. this tour is better for serious pics but more expensive since the tour is about 2 and a half hours in length with the bulk at Spirit Island. they include a photographer on it to assist in finding the iconic spots we all know and love and if something along the tour, animal watering for example is spotted, they will bring you as close as possible to it. that is something you do not get on other boat tours

the general tour is approximately 90 minutes in length. you can book a "through the lens" photography tour, and have approximately an hour at the island to shoot, if something is seen, wildlife or other special request, they do accomodate very willingly
It was beautiful. But my partner and I are at odds about the price tag on the solar bathroom next to the island.

in order to keep the area pristine and not polluted by man, you need to go to a different limit

I will be visiting Lake Louise in mid-May with a friend. Seeing Spirit Island and Maligne Lake has been a dream of mine for several years, and I wanted to know if it would be possible to do the boat tour. I saw above that tours are not available until May 21, which, unfortunately is after we arrive. We were thinking of driving Lake Louise to Jasper on May 18 (starting early), spending one night, and then heading out the next day. Could you advise on whether seeing Maligne Lake is a possibility? Thank you very much.
