Crawford Falls is a beautiful little natural gem within Kelowna city limits
jun. 2019
Located just off Westbridge Rd. in Kelowna is a canyon-top trail that goes right by Crawford falls (an easy hike of only about 20 minutes from the parking area). You can hear the falls on your right as you pass by and see it from the bank above the creek, but a steep trail with a rope pull is the only way to get down to the falls, so not really friendly for those with mobility challenges. Well worth visiting, though.

Excellent quick hike
sep. 2019
We wanted something to do between activities and stopped here for a hike. Street parking can be a bit tricky, but it was a great use of the time. Fairly steep up and down but only about 15 - 20 minutes of hiking (one way) to get to the beautiful falls.

Crawford Falls Trail to falls temporarily closed
mai 2019 • Forretning
While Canyon Falls Park is open, the Crawford Falls Trail down to the falls is closed due to slope instability. The upper trail is still open off of Canyon Falls Ct.

great hiking trails close to town in Kelowna!
mai 2019
This is for sure a really neat place to go to and I would like to also mention the review by travelledbones_com who went there previously was excellent and why we decided to go. Unfortunately, the trail going down to the first waterfall was closed. People were going down anyways even though there was a warning! Anyhow, great place to go to so close to town and many trails easy enough! I was disappointed that we could not go down to the first waterfall, hopefully it will be fixed and it would have been great if there was a place to go online to find out if places like this are closed?

Best easy hike close to town.

This is a hidden gem. Be sure to go past the first falls to the second. Both fall are very different and equally amazing - especially considering they are only 15 minutes from downtown. Wear good footwear.

Great spot!

Love this hike, one of my favourites! I recommend it to everyone that comes into town. There are some challanging spots but worth it for the waterfalls.

Picturesque hike on your doorstep

We’ve done this in the summer and it is definitely trickier in the winter. Cleats aren’t a must, but I would say they are HEAVILY recommended. The reward for effort level on this hike is great. The ladders have been replaced with metal grate staircases. (Easier to climb, but maybe tough on dog paws), and so the steep path to begin with and the small bit of climbing are well worth it. The last is of my 5yr old for those with kids. He loved this hike.

Bit sketchy in parts but worth the effort

After parking in the strangest spot for a hike ever, on a dead end residential side street with seven figure houses on both sides, the trail head is easy to find.
The path had been closed up to just a week before due to flooding so much of it was washed out a some of it was pretty dicey but it was worth the effort and plenty of families had made it the day we went. Wear good shoes as there is a bit of bouldering. And bring your camera!

Kids loved this!!
jul. 2017 • Familie
We visited with two children (10 years), The directions from the first reviewer are fantastic!! The trail he mentioned looked like it had once upon a time had steel stairs along the route to make the hike down less dangerous (or thrilling take your pick) but the removal of the stairs doesn't make the hike too difficult for children with moderate dexterity. This isn't a hike for those with signification weight or health issues. We did not attempt to reach the second falls since we had children and the second leg of the trail is unsuitable for younger children. It was well worth the time (about 20mins to get down with children in tow and less going back up)! the kids loved the adventure of "discovering" a waterfall and the setting was beautiful.

Must do in Kelowna!! -Full Review - Best tips
apr. 2017
Park along the curb at the dead end street of Canyon Falls Court. Don't block any driveways or you will be towed. The residents of Crawford Estates know to call the city when this happens.

Go down the path and as soon as the fence on your right ends, take a quick right turn and follow the path down. This is the easiest and safest way down to the waterfalls. You can get down a few other ways but they are all highly difficult. There have been several helicopter rescues from the canyon over the past couple years and you do not want to be flying to KGH for a life changing event.

As you descend you will go through some cool rock steps and then you will have to cross a small stream (easy). Next there will be a couple switchbacks the city has carved out of the side of the mountain which are awesome and lastly you'll descend a ladder that has been chained permanently to the cliff to assist getting down to the lower waterfall.

Follow the path up river and you'll arrive at the 1st waterfall. You can get some awesome pictures here! At this first waterfall if you look up to your left you will see danger signs where the old path used to be. It used to have ropes the whole way up/down which was fantastic but climbing it now is near impossible. People that do are asking for trouble. The ropes were cut down by the city.

Near the 1st waterfall there is an old engine that is super cool and some other rustic parts scattered about. Their origin is unknown as far as I know.

So to get to Crawford Falls which is 3 or 4 times bigger and more spectacular than the 1st waterfall requires some rock climbing and effort. Left of the 1st waterfall there is a rock face which used to have a ladder but the city removed it because they don't want people going past here.. If you're not very daring or physically able- do not attempt this...

It's not that difficult to scale this rock wall, just go slow and find your foot and hand points. Make your way up the rock wall (about 20-30 feet high) and continue along the now narrower path to the big waterfall. Do not go under the waterfall, falling debris will most likely kill you. I don't believe you can climb any further up the waterfall at this point. It is literally a vertical cliff. But there is a way you can get to the top of Crawford Falls!

...make your way back to the starting point by the fence at the beginning. Once you're back at the top, continue down the trail for about 10 minutes. It will go along the top ridge of the canyon and you can see the waterfalls below. It is extremely steep at the edges so be careful! You will be able to see a steep drop-off after a while to your right. This cleared area has thick ropes tied to the trees and you can make your way down to the top of Crawford Falls. It looks impossible but it isn't that difficult. Given that; going down is much harder than going back up afterwards. Once at the bottom you will notice you're at the top of the large waterfall! In the late summer (August) the river becomes a trickle and slowly runs off the edge. In the springtime it is a raging river!

In the summer we have hiked upstream a fair ways.. not sure how far you can go but you will have to do some rock hopping along the river. In the spring with the water being high and the current dangerously strong, I think it would be near impossible to hike upstream.

It is amazing to see how the river has carved out this deep vertical canyon over thousands of years and it is something you have to see for yourself to believe! This hike is highly underrated in my opinion and most people have heard about it but have never done it. It used to be a highly skilled difficult hike but the new path has made made difficult-moderate in my opinion.

TIP: The rocks near both the waterfalls are extremely slippery!!

TIP: the first hike down to the small waterfall is okay for adventurous kids probably 7-10 years and older. Dogs are okay I believe but it may be difficult for them with the terrain and the vertical challenge.

TIP: This canyon is near the Myra area and in the summer, thunderstorms can roll in almost instantly. Be careful and watch out for changing weather as it can flash flood and the small stream can easily fill up fast!

This can be hiked in the winter but just increase the difficulty by a ton because of the snow and ice! It is amazing though that if it cold enough, the waterfalls will freeze just like this year (2017).

Any questions feel free to message me!

Good luck, have fun and be safe!
