It's just a government building for passport and passport pics. Beautiful but no stores. There were very nice helpful security guard who gave simple directions.

Super fun here and got our new passports at the same time. Also had some food and drinks and conducted business here.

I’ve patronized the Sinclair Centre on and off over the years. In the mid-2000s, I occasionally came here for lunch with a work colleague because its proximity to the United Kingdom Building, where we’d have meetings, proved invaluable during the all too brief lunch hour. The relative quiet of the Sinclair Centre’s food court was a nice reprieve from the sardine-like crowds at Pacific Centre. In that same time period, I also recall coming here for a couple of Health-related meetings. After 2013, though, I didn’t actually enter this building for a good 5 years – I had no reason to. Then, in the Fall of 2018, I decided to amble over to the Sinclair Centre from the UK Building for a spot of lunch. Imagine my surprise when I arrived to find zero evidence of a food court ever having existed in the Sinclair Centre. Little did I know that the entire food court closed up shop sometime in 2014. So much for enjoying a quiet A&W “Buddy Burger,” but such is life, I suppose!

In any event, I don’t think anybody would dispute the heritage value of this building. Built in 1910, the Sinclair Centre is actually made up of four separate heritage structures that were amalgamated into one in the early 1980s. This new amalgam was rechristened the “Sinclair Centre,” after James Sinclair (maternal grandfather of Justin Trudeau), in 1983. The Edwardian style of architecture is a beautiful and stark contrast with the cosmopolitan city that has sprung up around it. As a shopping centre, though, there really isn’t much here: The Perfume Shoppe and Leone, though the latter is closing in “mid 2020.” There’s also a UPS Store, though I struggle with calling that a shopping destination. Beyond that, the Sinclair Centre is used primarily for government services – the CRA, Health Canada, Service Canada and Passport Canada. As such, I find myself agreeing with Chris D when he says the Sinclair Centre is better described as an “architectural treasure” than as a shopping centre.

That said, I did come here again in the Fall of 2019 with my dear grandmother to take care of some business. She had to renew her passport. Thank goodness she’s still pretty mobile because the elevators were out of service; thus, she had to navigate the numerous marble staircases. Despite that slight inconvenience, she very much enjoyed her visit, apparently having never been in the Sinclair Centre before. She marveled at the classic architecture; the brass fixtures; the vast amount of marble; and the intricate details that’ve gone in to making the Sinclair Centre a key landmark and heritage site in Vancouver. The fact that we had a very pleasant Passport Canada agent was probably the proverbial icing on the cake.

If you’re visiting Vancouver, I wouldn’t go out of my way to patronize the Sinclair Centre unless you happen to be a major historian of architecture. For most, simply viewing the high columns and iconic clock tower from the outside will do.

Well I went to the SinClair Center with my wife. We are both nomal people in our late 40's. Unfortunately we are homeless and went here 2 days in a row to sit in the lobby and use my laptop to get out of the cold and rain. All was going well as a few security guards walked around to maintain order sporadically and I used the internet. I noticed during the 2 days some real nastey, smelly, drug addicted, disrespectful ect. people decided to come to the Centre as well. This is when the problems started as I figured they would. Toilets overflowed, drug addicts walked barfoot through the building and people used needles in the washrooms. Some people smelled so bad I bet they hadn't showered in a month. The security had no concept how to deal with it or distingish good people from bad. So they made everybody leave including the good people such as me and my wife. A few bad apples. I was approached by security who told me to vacate the building along with my wife. With no arguement we left.
Although I let the security know I would leave along with everybody else as long as he didnt play favorites which he did not. I figured this would set new rules for the building. Apparently I was wrong becuse I stopped by again on now day 3 with the only intent of using the washoom. I was very surprised to see 6-8 people in the building obviously spending some time inside because of the cold and rain outside. My compliments to security and building management

Yes, this is an architecturally interesting building but the stores have left. Mainly it has a queue for the passport office and the post office.

This attracion has been billed as a shopping centre, when it is part government offices, part shopping. I saw NO ONE shopping, just a few suits rushing here and there, plus one maintenance person.
Rather, this edifice might better be described as an architectural treasure (see "historical treasure" below, who has done a great job of explaining what was, and what is) which was ruined (imho) by whatever the government had in mind when they tried to change some government buildings into ... I'm not sure what.
Check all the unfunctional space! Look at all the stairs! how does a wheelchair get around here? What were they thinking?
It may get archectural rewards from other architects, but as a retired property manager, I'm reminded of the adage: "a camel is a horse assembled by a committee.

Other than being an historical building with a good facade not a great deal to keep you occupied. Large Versace store but little else to warrant a visit

Four buildings were beautifully joined in a multi-functional mega-building which now houses federal offices, elite boutiques, and other complementary activities which now call this 1910 beauty their home.

We could see the gorgeous copper dome (with the huge clock) from our Delta Marriott hotel room and said a silent prayer of thanks to the powers-that-be who were responsible for not bulldozing 4 historic treasures into the scrap heap of history.

Joined together by a large glass atrium are the following Edwardian Baroque buildings:

1910 post office (the dome with the clock)
1911 Winch building
1913 Customs House
1937 Federal Building

The old buildings combine the English and French influences that define Canada. These beauties are the perfect counter-balance to the surrounding high rise landscape.
