Amazing day! We booked a 3 run taster pass based on our fitness which was the perfect number for us and a half day bike rental that came with full face helmet, gloves and elbow and knee pads. Everyone was so friendly and helpful with getting on to the gondolas and making sure we knew where we were going. The trails themselves are so well maintained, easily signposted and a huge variety for all abilities. Can't recommend enough! There's plenty of places to grab a drink in between runs and great atmosphere all round. The queue for the gondola goes down really quickly and you get to see other trails as you head up the mountain.
We rode the green trails which are equivalent to an easy blue in the UK but a lot more fun, so would recommend having some experience of mountain/downhill biking, and make sure you know the etiquette of being on the mountain, more for your own safety and that of others using the trails. But you'll see people of all ages and abilities up there so don't be put off!

Super fun experience. I had been 12 years ago, and decided to give it another try. I was impressed by the variety if trails. There are trails for the beginner to the master rider.
So, so, so fun for the active family. We were even able to rent a small full suspension bike for my 8 year old.
Keep in mind…this is a very exciting active but requires a great deal of caution. Respect the bike and the trails and you’ll have a wonderful time!

We road most of the trails on our Ebikes in Whistler - they were safe, clean, very well managed and excellent for all activities - up the mountains, around lakes, through single track trails dodging rocks, roots, trees and we had an absolute blast - have to return

As a family of beginner mountain bikers (two adults and a tweenager), we found there to be many green and blue trails to keep us occupied for an entire two weeks as we worked on our skills. The trails are well designed and well taken care of, and more importantly, well marked so you don't accidentally end up on a double-diamond! I know it seems expensive, but when you think of all the infrastructure and staff being used, it's akin to downhill skiing, so the price reflects that. I found if you bought the 5-day or longer passes during the early-bird window, it ends up being only about $60/day for an adult, which seems fair for being able to access the best mountain bike park on earth. My one piece of advice is that if you've never been downhill mountain biking, you should spend the money and get a guide for a few hours on your first day, as they will teach you a lot of useful skills that will help to keep you from doing anything too risky/dangerous. A few hundred bucks up front will most likely save you from the infirmary!

High prices. Many sections of the beginner trails are in really rough shape; excessive brake bumps, large loose rocks, crumbling surfaces. Too many riders bomb the beginner trails or blindly race into the many merge points. Sections where beyond the trail edge is a steep debris field.
Village is nice but some restaurants near the lift have recently adopted a policy of no kids after 2pm
Long trails with some great flow sections. Staff are generally really good.
They need a dedicated beginners section like Sun Peaks Progression Park.

A lot of trails were still closed (I think due to snow/mud) and the line up was very long (it took me 47 minutes to get to the lift). The second chair to the top of the mountain was not busy at all (no line ups) but on the top section, trails were a bit worn (dented) which again I think it was because of the early season situation and also mostly closed. :(

From beginner to advanced riders you will find trails to match your skills and progress. So much work goes into maintaining the trails, it is quite impressive.

First time to try mountain biking, so joined the Whistler Blackcomb bike school for a 3-hour private lesson., which comes with bike rental, helmet, safety gear, and lift pass. Instructor gave a quick explanation on how to ride bike, and what to do in turns, then off we went on our first green run. We tried a blue course on the last/3rd run, and it was a bit more challenging in the turns, and we fell off bike once, so not too bad :) Best part, we did not have to wait in line for the bike lifts... that alone, saved us a lot of time!

Hi! A group of friends and I are planning to go this summer to Whistler Bike Park and we want to buy the airplane tickets in advance. When are you going to release the 2020 opening dates?

I intend to go to Whistler from October 16th to the 23rd 2020, is it possible for me to still catch the Mtb season? And if the bike park is closed can I still do trail rides with my own bike?

Hi
We haven't released the Bike Park dates for next year yet. Last year the Bike Park closed on October 14th.
There are lots of trails still available to ride at the end of the summer in Whistler.
Thank you, WB.

I am heading to Whistler in January for a skiing trip with my family. Is there any winter mountain biking available at Whistler?. Can you hire fat-bikes anywhere?
WhistlerBlackcomb
Whistler, British Columbia14 bidrag
Hi
Thanks for your question. We don't have winter mountain biking on either Whistler or Blackcomb.
Some local shops might hire out fat bikes so you might still be able to ride on your trip, however you would need to research which other local trails are open as you will not be able to take bikes on the mountain in the winter.
Thanks. WB.

Hi
Whistler Mountain Bike Park is open until October 14th 2019. We haven't released our dates for summer 2020 yet. This year we opened Whistler Mountain Bike Park on May 17th, so that might give you a rough time. Keep your eye on our website for updates.
Hope that helps.

Is the Women's night ok for beginners? I've done a little bit of trail biking, but never downhill. The women's night seems like a good way to try it, but not sure if they cater to more experienced riders.

I am starting to plan a trip out west mt biking in August 2019. We are from the east coast (two boys 13/16 and 50 yr dad) and bike at mountain creek nj. We are intermediates at mt creek. I am considering Trestle and whistler. We want to go somewhere that we can enjoy beginner and int trails with lots of options and hopefully progress up to advanced by the end of the week. Where would be the better choice for us?

Hi, I’m planning a trip to whistler to cycle but what the best season/months to visit?
WhistlerBlackcomb
Whistler, British Columbia14 bidrag
Dear Jem.
Thank you for you question.
The Bike Park is typically open from the middle of May to the start of October. If you visit before September you benefit from lighter days and longer hours of operation. You can visit the Bike Park Hours of Operation section on our website for further information. It's possible in May that some trails may be closed due to snow and some lifts are closed until the middle of June. August is typically busy due to events like Crankworx with lots of bikers in town. Some people like to visit during this time for that reason as there is lots to see and do. I hope this helps you with your decision. We look forward to welcoming you on the mountain.
Sincerely, Whistler Blackcomb.

Hello the park is open? I was watching the news and they're talking about 600 fires near Whistler
WhistlerBlackcomb
Whistler, British Columbia14 bidrag
Dear Mco, thank you for your question and your concern. Yes the park is open and has not been closed due to smoke. During a wildfire, smoke conditions can change quickly over short distances and can vary considerably hour-by-hour so this is something our safety team are monitoring throughout the day. You can find updates and advice on the local website BC Air Quality.
Sincerely,
Whistler Blackcomb.

Im coming for the weekend from Alaska snd can only bring one bike. What should i bring? 8" DH or 6" Enduro?

I had more fun on my 6" Intense Tracer than I did on a rented V10 DH bike. Then again, if all you're going to do is "go big" in the park, a DH bike may be preferable.
