Would love to see this. Looked at the outside of the buildings but again, they are closed on the weekends. Maybe next time!

This was an excellent museum that gave a history of the area and highlighted the former school for first nation children. The museum is trying to raise funds to restore the school so that people can show something about the life of the children who lived there. It was not a pleasant place to be schooled.

This is by far the best Native History place I have ever been to. It is built right into the land and buikdings which held a horrible Residential School and have turned it into a beautiful and truthful history lesson. Many, many Objets d'Art on display for your viewing pleasure nd little videos are everywhere. A remarkable place, every Canadian should see it.

I lived in Brantford most of my life and I’d never been here, but I’m very glad I finally went. This museum was done to a great caliber and was very interesting. I also liked that it was Indigenous-run and so you can get a different perspective on the ideas on display.

The first section was pre-recorded history and covered the Neutrals that were in this area originally. Then it moves in to European contact, then on to assimilation.

The exhibit culminates in a celebration of contemporary Six Nations people who’ve become prominent in music and sports.

The very last room is an art gallery and it had the Historicity exhibit in it, it was awesome. My favourite piece (I don’t want to spoil it so I’m going to leave it vague) was very immersive and left me with a happy feeling. The whole art gallery was filled with poignant, interesting pieces.

Go here!

In seeking to understand the past, my husband and I are spending time to educate ourselves on the history of indigenous peoples of North America. The Museum at the Woodland Cultural Centre is a poignant reminder of how my ancestors did not bother to understand the culture and societies which were here before they arrived and how my ancestors made ill founded and unjust assumptions about the native peoples. I'm so sorry for our fellow humans were treated.
We spent nearly 2 hours in the museum and the special exhibit of some of Alan Michelson's work. Looking beyond the displays and artefacts, one realizes how much was destroyed and how little the aboriginal peoples have of their pre-contact history.

This is the old Residential School where Indigenous children were educated. Commonly called the Mush Hole, this place was the scene of much tragedy and misery for these children as the institution tried to 'beat the indian out of them'. Historical displays and indigenous artwork make for an interesting and thoughtful couple of hours.

This was an interesting path down the Six Nations history -- a number of thought-provoking displays on their culture.

While I enjoyed reviewing their fascinating history and culture, I also think much more could be worked into the displays to provide an even more in-depth view.

When we attended, there was an exhibition of modern FN art -- which was excellent.

The residential school building was closed for renovations so we could not view its interior, nor learn the stories that other visitors had heard in previous visits.

Will return when this building re-opens.

This museum gives you a very good overview of Six Nations culture and art. Both traditional and contemporary arts get some coverage. Watch for contemporary art exhibits.

Fantastic Heartbreaking and Eye Opening. A glimpse into the 'Canada' we need to know as educators too add our voices to those brave enough to speak of the past with raw honesty and a forgiving spirit.
