Road cyclists should be mindful of gravel. We started from Cambridge where the gravel was smoother but it became more close to Paris.
At Paris, we stopped at the lookout spot by the dam which was breathtaking and had a quick tour in the small and cozy town of Paris.

Took the trail one way from Paris trail head walking towards Cambridge trail head (next to Petro gas station).
Paris trail head starts at 58.2 km - finishing in Cambridge trail head at 77 km.
The trail is 1/3 part of the larger trail starting from Hamilton - Brantford - Cambridge.
Trail is very good and the path is well maintained - there are multiple stop points if required, trail remains busy during the day as there are people walking small sections or biking longer stretches.
Well shaded and great place to go for a walk/stroll in small sections or just take the whole day and make a nice day/afternoon out of it.
Parking areas (both sides) are small and it is a popular trail - so you want to either get here early or you might have to wait for a while.
Good photo stop points along the way include - Glen Murray lookout point, Old Abandoned mill (private property) and a bench lookout view closer to Cambridge end..
Total trail is of 18.8km and takes roughly 5 hrs to walk if you take breaks.
Nice trail and definitely worth walking when you want a nice relaxed walk and great way to exercise and get out.

The Old German Woolen Mill ruin near Glen Morris along the Cambridge to Paris rail trail is an unexpected encounter with history. It’s cut stone walls and raceway arches and overall imposing height are testimony to the skills of the stone masons who built it. Access is now signed as no trespassing, although it can be viewed from the rail trail or off a roadway in front of the ruins.

This is a easy trail with great views of the river and the forest. I've met many families with young children, what a great introduction for the youngsters.
Unfortunately many irresponsible owners of dogs have left it dirty and feces covered in the Paris area. One mess was within 20 feet of the parking lot garbage barrel. Unsanitary and a health risk to responsible pet owners and those children who use the trail.
A great walk spoiled for me and my dog!

We biked the trail, which was beauitful as well as challenging when going round trip. Before heading back to Cambridge we stopped in Paris for some lunch. It was a great day!

This trail parallels the Grand River, which is nice, but it runs close to busy highways in many areas. Better for a bike ride than for a quiet hike in the woods.

We walked from my house in Cambridge and stayed at the hotel in Paris - the historic one - it was fab. Had dinner in the pub across the street, but have dined at Stillwaters also - both were great. :) Walked home the next day, was a crazy silly idea to walk but reminiscent of the Camino Trail in Spain. :) lots of other paddlers putting in and taking out, walkers with kids and runners and bikers along the trail. Some there for a longer haul, some for an hour or two.

A good trail, but not exceptional. We had to get off our tandem several times because of soft gravel a d mud. Also, some areas of the trail were very narrow. We did, however, enjoy going into Paris and completing the ride back to Cambridge. One food thing is that the trail is mostly flat.

This trail supports both cycling and walking. I have a road bike and have no difficulty on this trail. We enjoy making a day of it. We leave from Cambridge and go to Paris for something to eat and drink and return on the trail. Lots of opportunities to get off the trail and enjoy the river that winds along the trail.
Great way to get your exercise in a beautiful environment. Good parking for your car in Cambridge beside the trail.

How long does it take to walk the trail from beginning to end?

We walked from Paris to Cambridge in about 4.5 hours. Just a leisurely pace, took time for photos, visit the lookout point and a few rest breaks.
FitBit put it at 30,500 steps and 21.2km (that’s with a side trip up to the Glen Morris restaurant that was unfortunately closed).

How long does the bike ride take from Cambridge to Paris at a moderate pace?

The ride from Cambridge to Paris takes an hour. It's 20K so depending on how slow you like to ride, it could take longer. We usually leave Cambridge at 9am and arrive in Paris just after 10 am to have coffee and then start the return trip at 11 am. We are back in Cambridge by noonish.
Where do u get on from Cambridge?

Yes there is a gas station on Hwy 24S just prior to Myers Rd. Just south of the gas station is a parking lot. The trail head is quite apparent with a map and some local information. There is a washroom at the gas station as well as across at the Tim Horton's towards Myers Rd.

Where do you get on the Trail in Paris?
Mary Z
Cambridge, Canada33 bidrag
To get on the trail from downtown Paris: from the main street called Grand River St N, cross over the Grand River using the bridge on William St. Go to the STOP sign and turn left onto Willow St. Follow Willow St slightly uphill - it's name changes to East River Rd. Watch for the sign saying "trail crossing". It will be on the left and follows all along the river. BTW there are two great places in Paris where we cyclists go for coffee - either the Brown Dog which has a deck overlooking the river, or the Blue Dog which is one block off the main street.
